Prayers Needed For Senator Vitter's Family

It came out a little after 10:00 PM ET last night that one of our conservative heroes, Senator David Vitter, R-LA, had his phone number located on the phone list of the DC Madam. Senator Vitter immediately acknowledged that it was true and that he, several years ago, had confessed to his wife, attended marriage counseling, and asked for God's forgiveness. As a strong supporter of the Senator's I felt like I had been sucker punched, but we will never imagine the hardship his wife and family must be going through. Especially since, no doubt, the liberal media will plaster this everywhere. I would like to ask for prayers for his family to get through this time. Only God knows if the Senator is truly repentant, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt and a second chance, especially since this appears to have happened years ago and not recently and the Senator has become accountable to his wife over what he admits was a serious sin in his life.

I can't help but wonder if you gave President Clinton the same benefit of the doubt you're giving Vitter.

Prostitution is a serious crime.

Absolutely, prostitution is a serious crime and if he gets charged I have no problem with that. The difference, that I think you fail to see, is Bill Clinton lied under oath and to his wife; where Vitter has been honest and was accountable to his wife. To directly answer your question, while I have never supported Bill Clinton in anyway, I have routinely prayed for him and that includes after it came out that he was still cheating on his wife. I think the inability to keep your marriage vows is a serious character flaw and is one of the reasons that I support Gov. Huckabee over waiting for Newt Gingrich to announce.

This isn't the first time that this has happened with Vitter. In 1999 New Orleans prostitute, Wendy Cortez contacted former Governor Treen's office during the 2002 campaign for governor that year, because she was unhappy Vitter was claiming to be a family values candidate and cheating on his wife with her.

Seems like he's a repeat hypocrite.

CV Rick,
As I understand there is no proof of the second allegation and there is an unconfirmed report that the woman making the accusation is a registered Democrat. He is still responsible for his actions and if he did it he deserves everything he gets.

This was perhaps the funniest thing I have read regarding David Vitter. A letter to the Senator from Ignatius J. Reilly of A Confederacy of Dunces.
