Packers' Game Day

The Packers are getting ready to play the Giants. This will be an interesting game to see how our defense handles the talented offense of the Giants. Of course, Eli has got a sore shoulder so that may affect his passing. The Giant's defense last week against the Cowboys was horrid, so I am hoping that our offense can actually get something accomplished this week. I will post an update around 5 PM on my thoughts about the game. Go Pack!

Here is the Wisconsin State Journal's breakdown and prediction:

If the Giants' defensive scheme looks familiar that's because it's essentially the same one the Packers saw last week against Philadelphia. During the offseason, Giants coach Tom Coughlin fired defensive coordinator Tim Lewis and replaced him with Steve Spagnuolo, who worked under Eagles coordinator Jim Johnson from 1999 through 2006. Like Johnson, Spagnuolo likes to blitz and play bump-and-run, although that didn't work out so well against Dallas, which hung 478 yards and 45 points on the Giants last week. Plus, the Giants lost their best defensive player, end Osi Umenyiora, to a knee injury. The Packers have to get better line play and more production from the running game, which managed 48 yards. The expected return of Vernand Morency in a limited role should help. Otherwise Brett Favre, who had 42 attempts last week, will be slinging the ball all over the field again. [read more]
