This post has been a long time coming and I felt that it needed to be said before the Iowa caucus. I have been watching the MSM (Main Stream Media) and cringe every time they use the word conservative. They have twisted and perverted it so much it is unrecognizable to the average viewer that does not get involved in politics other than to vote or have an occasional conversation. They use it as a label for Republican. They have no clue what conservative really means. This is evident every time they use it to describe Presidential candidates Giuliani, McCain or Huckabee.
Conservative defends America's borders and sovereignty, upholds the Constitution and Bill of Rights as they were meant and not by the mutated interpretation of today, defends all life unborn and so called vegetative, supports and builds up the military that defends this country, punishes traitors and puts God above all. Conservative is many more things, but what it is not is pro-abortion, allowing illegals to steal American taxpayers benefits and hard earned money, allowing criminals to prey upon innocent citizens or allowing foreign enemies to dictate our own laws.
I am tired of the constant attacks by judgmental liberals and hypocritical evangelicals whose litmus test God could not even pass. They cry out that Christians are being persecuted while they ruthlessly condemn and encourage prejudice against Mormons, Catholics, Jews and Muslims. While extremism in any religion is dangerous and violence should not be tolerated, neither should discrimination.
God teaches us through a book we call the Bible that he created man in his own image, that we are his children. That makes all of us sisters and brothers in Christ. As a parent do you allow one of your children to treat another disrespectfully or call them names because the other child has different beliefs? No, you lovingly teach the child to respect and love the sibling regardless. The guilty Evangelicals should have been taught this by their churches, I know that is what my parish teaches.
Liberals will always attack the candidates they believe are true conservatives, they cannot stand the thought of having a true conservative as the leader of our country. Notice the push of the MSM for liberal Republican candidates Giuliani, McCain and Huckabee. They always have a liberal motive for what they do, it is calculated. They believe that any of these men, if nominated, could be destroyed while campaigning for the general election and would lose to any Democrat candidate.
When the MSM likes and pushes a Republican the people should look very closely; they are not conservative. You can be a Republican and not be a conservative, so stop using conservative as a label for Republicans. It is deceiving and unfair to true conservatives because it distorts what they really are. Or, is that the calculated intent of the MSM; to dilute the reputation of the conservative therefore mutating the Republican Party. The Republican Party has made such a hard turn to the left it no longer represents the beliefs of the majority of its members. The Republican Party has really become two parties now.
I keep hearing that McCain has surged in New Hampshire and the MSM is once again pushing him as the potential winner. Of course his numbers are picking up his liberal views more closely match those of New Hampshire. Not to mention that New Hampshire allows Independents to vote in the Democratic and Republican Primaries. If they are not willing to commit to either party then they should not be voting in the Primary to begin with. If they are true Independents they are not going to vote for either party's candidate as president anyway; otherwise they are simply undecided.
In the big picture of the rest of the country this is insignificant, there is no McCain come back. It is figment of the MSM's imagination to cover for the fact that Huckabee is losing numbers. If Huckabee can't win they have to push McCain, he is the next in line on their list of beatable Republican candidates and uninformed voters are lapping it up.
Conservatives have a mind and a voice of their own and they are going to show it. I believe that Fred Thompson will come in at least third in Iowa, which in retrospect is huge because Iowa voters are traditionally more liberal than most other states. His numbers will continue to pick up as Huckabee's numbers drop. The more Huckabee shows what he is willing to do to win the vote the more voters dislike what he has to say. His unwarranted attacks on Romney and his religion, including calling him a liar and a badly choreographed stunt of pulling an attack ad and trying to get the media to spread the ad. McCain is not a conservative and cannot get enough votes from the conservative majority of the Republican Party and Giuliani is not even a contender anymore for the same reasons.
That leaves Romney and Thompson. Romney does not understand federalism or the 2nd Amendment they way I believe a President of the United States should, but ]I believe the majority of the Republican Party is willing to look past Romney's religion and smart enough to see through Huckabee's attacks against him and that Thompson's strong stands and principles for the sovereignty of life and America will push them to the front of the race rather quickly.
Thompson is pro-life (leaving it to the individual and self-governing states to decide is the way this country was founded. Each state must decided whether or not to outlaw abortions); he believes in closed and secure borders and deportation through attrition; he knows and respects the virtue of the 2nd Amendment; he knows the importance of tax, health care, education, and energy reform. He not only acknowledges all of this, he has detailed plans.

I hear the word Reaganism being used all the time and this bugs me as bad as the misuse of the word conservatism. Most people who use this word once again have no clue what it really means. Reagan was the most influential American conservative President in the 20th century he stood for
moral order, respect for Western civilization, the legitimacy of old institutions, the force of custom, property rights, and a narrowly defined foreign policy. From the latter he championed individual freedom, equality of opportunity, the rule of law, constitutional government, lower taxes, and less regulation of business. Unless a candidate shares these same beliefs they are not Reagan like, only Fred Thompson can be compared to this honor.
