Boston, MA – Today, Romney for President Campaign Manager Beth Myers issued the following statement regarding the outcome of West Virginia's Republican Party convention:

"Unfortunately, this is what Senator McCain's inside Washington ways look like: he cut a backroom deal with the tax-and-spend candidate he thought could best stop Governor Romney's campaign of conservative change.

"Governor Romney had enough respect for the Republican voters of West Virginia to make an appeal to them about the future of the party based on issues. This is why he led on today's first ballot. Sadly, Senator McCain cut a Washington backroom deal in a way that once again underscores his legacy of working against Republicans who are interested in championing conservative policies and rebuilding the party."

So all of McCain's people went for Huckabee and all but a few of Ron Paul's went for Romney?? That's laughable.

Go to the Ron Paul message boards and you'll see they have much more respect for Huckabee than they do for Romney. To suggest that there was some sort of deal made that secured McCain's supporters (and Huck getting NONE of RP's), is ridiculous and desperate spin.

Besides, what would Huckabee promise the McCain campaign? That he would purposely LOSE in another state? What could McCain possibly gain in this supposed "deal"?

Ludicrous conspiracy theory there, Oliver Stone.

Do you actually research before you leave these comments? You obviously don't understand how politics work. The vote total in West Virginia is plain as day, plus the eye witnesses on the ground; McCain's people actively switched to Huckabee in mass stealing West Virginia from Romney and giving it to the Huckster.

As for what would McCain gain, that is obvious; a win for Romney would have hurt McCain, while a loss to Huckabee made the news story that Romney had lost. The only threat to McCain is Romney. Huckabee can only win in the South so he is no threat nationally to McCain. The bottom line is that Huckabee has sold out all of his supposed principles to praise McCain in every news interview and to attack Romney.

Just a quick note on the Ron Paul supporters. Many of them read our blog daily and I remember having received one inappropriate comment from them, because the bottom line with them is they support the Constitution. I wish everyone did. Huckabee supporters constantly leave anti-Catholic and anti-Mormon comments on this blog. Apparently they have not figured out that anything that attacks another person's religion will not be posted on this blog; we deal in facts and personal opinions and we are open to people of all faiths.

This is why Huckabee doomed his own campaign. He decided to cow-tail to a small minority of Christians who have no tolerance for anyone who does not share their belief system. Ron Paul and Gov. Romney have not done that and that is why they get support consistently through out the entire country. The only thing that is reassuring is that I do know these hateful, bigoted Huckabee supporters are probably the same 100 people sitting at home angrily writing their vicious comments all day.
