Some good news out of NASA Ares may be operational sooner than originally thought. Unfortunately, this still leaves around 4 years between the shuttle going offline and the start up of Ares. This is yet another example of NASA underachieving. They have been talking about a shuttle replacement for years now and now that the time is almost upon us, they are not ready.It is a national humiliation that we are going to have to rely on Russia to get to the international space station. This is just part of a larger problem at NASA; they have lost the ability to dream or lead. They are more concerned with so-called man made global warming than reaching for the heavens and attaining the unimaginable.
I hate to criticize NASA so often and I know there is a lot of good people doing incredibly good work, but the leadership has been inept for years. I want my kids to grow up dreaming of space exploration like I did and that is why I am so concerned.
