Catholic League News Release

Pastor John Hagee has pulled his endorsement of Republican presidential candidate John McCain; McCain subsequently renounced Hagee’s endorsement. Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on this development today:

“One week ago today, I met with Pastor Hagee in my office. I found him to be sincere, apologetic and friendly. I also found him to be the strongest Christian defender of Israel I have ever met, and that is why attempts to portray him as anything but a genuine friend to Jews—one for whom the Holocaust is the horror of horrors—is despicable.

“Hagee’s decision to sever all ties to McCain is noble: He knows he has become a liability to McCain, even after he has made amends to Catholics. What this proves is that Hagee, unlike Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is not an egocentric man. He is also not like the partisans at the Interfaith Alliance which today called on McCain to reject Hagee: when it was founded, the Interfaith Alliance received $25,000 in seed money from none other than the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

“Pastor Hagee can now move in the religious circles he has become accustomed to, and continue his ministry without distraction.”

An attorney and top foreign policy adviser to Sen. Barack Obama is coming under fire for representing controversial figures, including an accused human-rights abuser, an alleged murderer of a U.S. soldier and even the would-be assassin of former President Ronald Reagan.

Greg Craig, who has been termed the "lawyer of the left," represented John Hinckley, Jr., who attempted to assassinate Reagan in 1981 by firing six bullets at the president as he left a hotel. Craig was reportedly the architect of Hinckley's successful defense in which he was found not guilty by reason of insanity, even though reports by the federal prosecution found Hinckley sane.
As a partner in the high-powered Washington, D.C., law firm of Williams & Connolly, Craig represented Former Bolivian Defense Minister Carlos Sanchez-Berzain in a federal lawsuit of "crimes against humanity" due to his alleged role in the suppression of labor union riots in 2003 that resulted in the deaths of 67 people. 15 Steps Towards A Lawful Immigration System

Jeff Sessions has been the leading advocate for creating a lawful immigration system in America. In a major policy address to The Heritage Foundation recently, Jeff laid out 15 steps towards reaching that lawful system and challenged the candidates for President of the United States to commit to following them. The president is the Chief Enforcement Officer of the land who alone has the power to truly fix our broken immigration system. From completing the Border Fence to ending Catch and Release and moving toward a Merit-Based immigration system, these 15 steps are a roadmap for demonstrating to the American people that our future president will be committed to moving toward a lawful system.

A Roadmap for Demonstrating Presidential Credibility on
One of America's Most Important Issues

Secure The Border

1. Border Fence and National Guard: Secure the border, including completing construction of the 700 mile southern border fence required by the Secure Fence Act, construct more miles if needed, and keep the National Guard on the border until it is secured.

2. Border Prosecutions: Deter illegal entry by expanding the already successful Zero Tolerance Prosecution Policy (Operation Streamline) from 3 to all 20 border sectors, and support statutory mandatory minimums for the crimes of illegal entry, reentry, and reentry after deportation for any felony

3. Control Visa Overstays: Give our immigration system integrity by completing the 10-year past due exit portion of The USVISIT (Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology) system and eliminate other weaknesses in the system so that future visa overstays can be identified [

Buddy Witherspoon On Immigration

Immigration - I believe illegal immigration is one of the gravest problems facing this country. Open borders cause crime, depress wages, compromise our sovereignty, swell our welfare state, jeopardize national security, overwhelm schools and hospitals, weaken our common culture and national identity, and is an affront to the rule of law. This is not a complicated issue. Illegal aliens broke our laws to come into this country and have absolutely no right to stay here. English should be the official language for our country, and all legal immigrants should be required to both read and write it with proficiency before earning citizenship. As Senator, I will work aggressively to solve the immigration problem that exists. First and foremost, I oppose any form of amnesty for illegal aliens. We need to immediately reduce the size of our illegal population by increased spending on border security and build a fence. Local law enforcement and immigration authorities must work together by sharing information and be given full authority to arrest and detain illegal aliens. In addition, we must require employers to verify their employee’s citizenship status and prosecute employers caught hiring illegal aliens. Finally, we need to cut government services that are currently being given to illegal aliens, and deport all illegal aliens convicted of any crime.

Sarah Palin - Alaska's Real Politician

Governor's around the US sit up and take notes; you are about to be schooled in real politics. Sarah Palin has proven, once again, that she has earned her well over 80% approval rating. She has accomplished this by knowing what a real politician's duty is; to serve and represent the PEOPLE.

Not only has she promoted and represented families, and the everyday citizen in her state, she taken it upon herself to help relieve some of the suffering brought upon them by an overstepping and increasingly liberal federal government. She has taken the state's surplus and is giving it back to the people. What a concept, instead of borrowing and adding to an already grotesque deficit to hand out a false stimulus, she is taking a well managed surplus and putting it back into the pockets of the people where it belongs.

No surprise, Democrats and RINO's, are whining about the lining in their pockets being given back to the people:

"It's taking my breath away," said Anchorage Democratic Rep. Harry Crawford. "I don't know what to think about it, it's so huge."

House Speaker John Harris has been pushing for energy cost relief but wasn't sure about debit cards.

"That would be hard to implement," the Valdez Republican said. "I think you'd have a lot of potential for fraud."

Harris said a person could sell their debit card and use the money to buy something else

Give me a break! Talk about Nanny State! Listen to what they are saying about you. That you are not responsible enough to handle your own money, that it would be better managed in their pocket, that you don't have a right to decide how to spend your own money.

First of all, this is not a hand out from the government, this is a surplus that is being given back to the people whose pockets it was taken from to begin with. Not to mention that the government gives out debit cards for many socialist programs (food stamps, Medicaid, and child support) and put the responsibility into the hands of the people all the time. People are not going to sell a debit card that gives them money each month for each eligible member of their family.

Congratulations Sarah Palin for getting what a politician really is and for not backing down to those who would be thieves. The majority of politicians out there should take a lesson from you. A final note: She even opposes the insanity over polar bears.

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments today on last night’s episode of the ABC program, “Boston Legal”:

“There is no one in Hollywood more fascinated—and angry—about the Catholic Church than ‘Boston Legal’ creator David E. Kelley. Last night he shared with us once again his wish list. The episode focused on the plight of yet another terribly oppressed woman. The source of her oppression, of course, is the Catholic Church. She wants to become a priest, but she refuses to walk down the block to join the Episcopal church. So she realizes Kelley’s dream by evincing a hatred for diversity and tolerance: she sues the Church for discrimination.

“Orthodox Judaism, Mormonism, Islam and Orthodox Christianity merit honorable mention in the show (they have the same clergy strictures), but they don’t really count: it is the big bad Catholic Church that Kelley wants to knife. For example, in the courtroom lies are told about the Catholic Church’s alleged support for slavery, the execution of witches and the Inquisition. [Note: It was the Catholic Church—not any other religion—which first opposed slavery, and it was St. Patrick who was the first public person in history to fight against it; and for the most part, it was the civil authorities, not the Church, who punished witches and were responsible for the Inquisition.] In the end, Kelley’s biggest fantasy is realized—the Catholic Church’s tax-exempt status is revoked. Oh, yes, Kelley also speaks vicariously about sodomy: it should not be a sin.

“In the real world, now that imperial judges in California have overturned the express will of the people by allowing Sam to marry Steve (they have not ruled on whether Sidney can make it a trifecta), Kelley must be gushing. But it won’t last: he’ll get another reality check in November.”

Contact ABC’s Francie Calfo at and ask her if any of Kelley’s friends dying of AIDS has ever been serviced in one of those tax-exempt Catholic hospitals.
