BREAKING NEWS: Gov. Sarah Palin Stepping Down - UPDATED

Michelle Malkin has all the details, and there aren't many. Apparently, Gov. Palin is not running for re-election, but she is also stepping down; which makes no sense. I guess it is being reported that this will help her run for President in 2012.

That makes absolutely no sense to me. How does not completing her term as governor help her politically? There is more going on here. I just hope it is good news. The Party doesn't need any more bad news. We will keep you updated.

UPDATE 2:20 PM CENTRAL:

KTUU.com in Alaska is reporting that she will step down July 26th. Unfortunately, I don't have a TV in front of me today, but they are playing her speech on the radio and so far it is a powerful and uplifting speech; like we have come to expect from the Governor.

It appears that I was wrong; it is connected to 2012. I love what she is saying right now about personal freedom, limited government. We will be updating all day. Check back often.

UPDATE 3:30 PM CENTRAL:

On the Sean Hannity Show the guest host just announced that on Twitter Gov. Palin announced that details would be forth coming and that it was good news.

SR'S UPDATE 3:55 PM CENTRAL:

Everyone is talking about Andrea Mitchell's claim that she has a source close to Gov. Palin that says she is going into the private sector and leaving politics. Listen to what Gov. Palin herself said, in her own words. Sure she may be going into the private sector; to raise funds to run for President! She twittered herself to say "it is good". She doesn't mean just for herself and her family.

Another point people seem to be missing is that stepping down is the wrong thing to do for a Presidential run, therefore she must not intend to run. That could not be further from the truth. By stepping down she removes herself from the office and the frivolous ethics attacks from liberals seeking her destruction. Also, by stepping down she puts Alaska first, and puts the Lt. Governor into the office with a leg up for the upcoming election.

Does anyone remember that Gov. Huckabee went into the private sector now with his own show and is fully expected to make a run for the Presidency?

UPDATE 4:33 PM CENTRAL:

Here is Alaskan blog Way Up North on Gov. Sarah Palin decision.

The op ed writers, pundits, commentators, and reporters all began to put their spin on the news. But in the quote above, she said something that seems the clearest, to me: "...I am willing to change things, so that this administration ... can continue without interruption ..."

Sarah Palin has been called many things since last year's run for the V.P. slot. "Quitter" is not one of them. [

SR'S UPDATE 6:00 PM CENTRAL:

For all the liberals trying to use the pathetic attack that Gov. Palin is not finishing her term as Governor, give it up; Obama didn't finish his term in the Senate and he certainly didn't have any relative experience that made him in the slightest qualified for president. Guess what? The Conservatives are coming, THE CONSERVATIVES ARE COMING!

Anyone who counts Sarahcuda as "down and out" simply doesn't know Sarah Palin. And it's EXTREMELY unlikely that anyone "close" to NBC News has any inside info from Sarah. Most of us, here in Alaska, view the national media as we would a rattlesnake (if there were any snakes in Alaska).

She's not gone; she's putting Alaska first & allowing the new governor to concentrate on Alaskan affairs, instead of spending its time and energy fighting the six people who filed all the complaints.

Sarah's not gone from politics, and you may quote me on that.

Rev. Paul,

HALLELUJAH! It is obvious that she has always been principled and always will be. This was the principled thing to do for Alaska. Boy, the libs are not going to know what hit them. In their vain and ravenous attempt to destroy her they may have just made her. By being willing to step down in the best interests of Alaskans she is now free to run for President of all Americans. She may not be active in the public about it immediately; I believe she will help out conservatives in the prior elections first. But, mark my words she is gearing up to take this administration down. Woo Hoo!

DR wants to know if it is true that there are no snakes (literal snakes) in Alaska? If so we may forego moving down South to move to Alaska;-)

Found this lovely piece over at HotAir (from the HuffPo): Apparently, no low is too low for the democratic left.

Anonymous,

Is nothing beneath them anymore. They truly are sick and without emotions.

They just cannot stand that she dares to be pro-life and actually live her example.
