Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments today on an article by Robert S. McElvaine, a professor at Millsaps College, that is posted on the joint blog site of the
Washington Post and Newsweek
, “On Faith”:

“Does Pope Benedict XVI hate women, Jews and Muslims? Or is he just insensitive? One thing is for sure, we know he presides over a religion that holds ‘immoral’ teachings on sexuality.

“Now this is the kind of rant we would expect to find on the bathroom wall of a summer camp in Martha’s Vineyard, but, alas, it appears in the pages of Sally Quinn’s blog. This is her idea of dialogue.

“Want to read hate speech? Read the voluminous comments attendant to McElvaine’s article. If we have room we will reprint some of them in the May edition of our monthly journal,
Catalyst
(there is a lot of competition among bigots so only the best make the cut). In any event, we will surely reprint some of the really choice remarks in next year’s annual report on anti-Catholicism. Either way, we will be fair to Quinn and note the central role she played in fomenting intolerance.

A Worthwhile Draft Movement

Rett Hatcher informed me of the Draft Gilbert Baker for Senate movement. I have been informed he is pro-life, has an A+ rating from the NRA, and is opposed to illegal immigration. I support this draft movement. If you would like to get involved, especially if you live in Arkansas, then visit Draft Gilbert Baker for US Senate.

I don't need to tell you how important it is that the Republican Party retake the Senate and the House, but to make that worthwhile we have to win with Conservatives who are willing to support the Constitution and move America back to her founding principles. 2010 is not that far away, get involved early to make sure the right people win the Primaries and the General Election.

POPE INGITES CONDOM DEBATE

On his flight to Cameroon yesterday, Pope Benedict XVI was asked about the Catholic Church’s position on fighting AIDS. He said, in part, “One cannot overcome the problem with the distribution of condoms. On the contrary, they increase the problem.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue had this to say:

“Last year, Edward C. Green, director of the AIDS Prevention Research Project at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, wrote that ‘In every African country in which HIV infections declined, this decline has been associated with a decrease in the proportion of men and women reporting more than one sex partner over the course of a year—which is exactly what fidelity programs promote.’ As for condom use, Green said, ‘Many countries that have not seen declines in HIV have seen increases in condom use, but in every country worldwide in which HIV has declined there have been increases in levels of faithfulness and usually abstinence as well.’ The Catholic Church, it is well known, has been at the forefront of such programs. It also operates more hospitals and related medical centers for AIDS patients than any other private institution in the world.

“If condoms were the answer, then why is it that New York City, which under Mayor Michael Bloomberg has given away
tens of millions of free condoms, has an HIV rate three times the national average
? Furthermore, the promiscuous distribution of condoms in New York has coincided with a spike in sexually transmitted diseases of all sorts. Isn’t it time we learned that condom worship is irrational?

“Anyone who thinks that condom distribution, education and/or research is going to solve a problem which is mostly a function of behavioral recklessness is positively clueless. Not only that, such persons unwittingly contribute to the problem by distracting attention and resources away from that which works.”

House Republicans Push for Congressional Inquiry on Treasury Role in AIG Fiasco

Prepare For Census Fraud

It is pretty bad when you can predict the likelihood of Census fraud before the Census even begins. We all know that voter registration fraud was rampant, even though ACORN was never charged with a crime. Now, ACORN and NAACP, among others, will be helping the government hire Census workers.

ACORN flaunts they were never charged with a crime, as if that absolves them from guilt and gives them the credibility to have anything to do with the Census. They hired and trained the workers who are now taking the fall for voter registration fraud, do you really think it will be any different with the Census? I wonder how many dead and non existent citizens will be counted in 2010?

Obama Wants Vets To Give An Arm And A Leg In Service And Then Pay For It Themselves

With no conscience and no moral core Obama has stated he plans to move forward with a budget proposal that would require wounded veterans to pay for their own private insurance. Obama apparently feels that Americans should pay for their own care for injuries received while working for the government, that the government shouldn't be responsible to those who sacrificed to serve it and keep it free. How many families will be forced into bankruptcy and poverty because of Obama?

I want to personally thank each and every veteran and their families for the incredible sacrifices you have made. Nothing we could do or give could ever be enough and I personally apologize for this weasel, who happens to be the President of the United States, and the destruction he has mounted upon your lives.

Obama Almost Endorses Criminalizing Those Who Criticize Homosexuality

Obama is walking on a thin line with the subject of homosexuality and we may get more than was bargained for. The UN attempts to deal with countries who put homosexuals to death by decriminalizing it they may be opening a Pandora's Box on those who don't agree with the lifestyle, and the Obama administration has endorsed the statement.

I am incensed by the lack of knowledge or interest Americans have of their founding documents and of their freedoms and liberties. I ask that you take the time to read through the Constitution and the following posts. Although time consuming, it is worthwhile. WORTHWHILE, our Republic and our future is worthwhile.

The Obama administration and the Dems would love for you to believe that you cannot learn from the past, that history has nothing to offer us, that the only way to progress is through change and big government. Change and big government is what has gotten us where we are, in a state of ruin, and rot, and socialism. Because America has allowed liberal thinking to convince her that her very founding is somehow outdated or defective and in need of repair she has allowed herself to become damaged and mutilated by political agenda and greed.

THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

RESOLVED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, two thirds of both Houses concurring, that the following Articles be proposed to the Legislatures of the several States, as amendments to the Constitution of the United States, all, or any of which Articles, when ratified by three fourths of the said Legislatures, to be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of the said Constitution; viz.

ARTICLES in addition to, and Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, proposed by Congress, and ratified by the Legislatures of the several States, pursuant to the fifth Article of the original Constitution.

Amendment VII

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. Words To A Miscreant Government

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope that it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen, if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.

This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty towards the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren, till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation?

For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth -- to know the worst and to provide for it. I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years, to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House?

Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received? Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer not yourselves to be betrayed with a kiss. Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with these warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation -- the last arguments to which kings resort. I ask gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array, if its purpose be not to force us to submission? Can gentlemen assign any other possible motives for it? Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies?

No, sir, she has none. They are meant for us; they can be meant for no other. They are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which the British ministry have been so long forging. And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer on the subject? Nothing.

We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain. Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication? What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves longer.

Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament.

Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne. In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope.

If we wish to be free -- if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending -- if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained, we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of Hosts is all that is left us!

They tell us, sir, that we are weak -- unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance, by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

Sir, we are not weak, if we make a proper use of the means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. Three millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us.

The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable -- and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come!

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, "Peace! Peace!" -- but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!

The Dictatorship Grows

You think it can't happen, but it is; your government is plotting against you. At least if you are Conservative, that is. Troops are being placed in U.S. cities, Obama is preparing to take your children away at birth to indoctrinate them, homeland security is spying on U.S. citizens, police are targeting millions of Americans as potential “domestic terrorists”, and citizens are encouraged to report people as potential “terrorists”.

A secret police report targets millions of Americans as potential “domestic terrorists” if they support the Constitution, oppose unlawful taxation, supported 2008 presidential candidates Republican Ron Paul, Libertarian Bob Barr or Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin (Seen here on Lou Dobbs program), or if they are opposed to abortion, are against unconstitutional gun control, if they display pro-Constitution bumper stickers or own copies of certain books and documentaries.

Are you a Conservative? Then according to the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) you are a potential "domestic terrorist". This boils down to the liberals' way of shutting down their opposition, you. How long before the "KGB" comes for your family?

Health Talk

On a different subject than normal I wanted to talk about health, fitness, and dieting. Since having a baby three weeks ago I am now ready to get back in shape. I have some tips and resources to share with you and I would like to hear what works for you.

My last "official" pregnancy weight was 199 lbs (Whew! That took a lot to admit). I am 5' 7" so I carry the weight pretty well, but my first goal is to lose 49 lbs. or fit into a size 8 jean, which ever comes first. I don't have to be a size 2 to be happy (besides I would be a walking skeleton at that size) just fit and healthy. At my last annual checkup my doctor said my bad cholesterol was a little high so my second goal is to get my cholesterol under control.

Since I don't believe in relying on prescriptions, but rather habit and nature, I am going to start by breaking my golden rule about exercise: If you have to work for it, it ain't worth it. I plan on starting small with stretching, then adding a little weight. I will increase the amount of weight as necessary and will concentrate on toning. Using small weights and repetition I can achieve a toning affect rather than tearing and building muscle (not too becoming on a woman). I have an advantage, my husband is a strength training guru so I will have plenty of advise and motivation.

I recommend buying "Wonder Foods & Juices" by Dale Koppel, Ph.D. which outlines foods to add to your daily diet to improve health. Just by adding the foods mentioned it will give any diet the added boost to rid your body of unwanted fat. Occasionally you can find it in the magazine rack in the checkout at your local grocer, with the mini mags. I used this method 10 years ago and dropped four pant sizes in three months without even exercising! Mind you, I was single then so I had a lot more money and time, but I am going to give it a try again. Adding a Chromium Picolinate supplement to your diet can also be beneficial, it helps to suppress your appetite and helps breakdown sugars, protein, and fat.

Of course, drink a lot of water; I found that adding a packet of flavored drink mix can help make drinking water easier. You have a wide variety of choices now with vitamin, herb, and fiber enriched options. Water flushes toxins from your body and can help reduce the amount of food you eat when drinking it before and with a meal.

To help lower my cholesterol I will add more fiber; whole grains, beans, carrots, oranges, and bananas. If getting enough fiber is a problem you can supplement with fiber capsules, which are good for heart and digestive health.

Finally, I recommend that once a year you do a juice fast. This is a very intense process that can have dramatic results. It detoxifies your body and aides in weight loss. JUICE FASTING:

Days 1 - 2) Prepare by eating raw vegetables and nuts

Days 3- 7) Juice with raw vegetable and fruit juices. Add fiber supplements, decaffeinated green tea, and water. Avoid citrus fruits, tomato juice, and caffeine or stimulating herbs as these can have adverse effects.

Day 8) Gradually introduce solid food back into your diet with non-citrus fruits.

Day 9) Introduce steamed vegetables back into your diet.

Day 10) Introduce dairy and grains back into your diet.

Day 11) Introduce meats back into your diet.

Of course, design and maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine to reduce the build up of toxins and maintain weight.

Ms. McCain is embarrassed having to explain Ann Coulter to her friends? She is apparently oblivious to the embarrassment Conservatives endure trying to explain RINO's such as herself. Thomas Sowell's article does a great job of calling RINO's out for their liberal tendencies:


Our children have been so indoctrinated by government controlled public schools many don't even know what Republic or Republican mean anymore. Thank God for true Conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Thomas Sowell who are willing to keep beating the drum of truth despite attacks from the elite and uninformed puppets that have infiltrated our Party.

In my opinion, the Party has betrayed and turned its back on Conservative principles and has changed itself into the Democrat Party's Mini-Me. Maybe the problem lies in Conservatives not being willing to let go of the idea of a Party that no longer exists.

There are other options; if all Conservatives stood together, RINO'S would be eliminated from leadership and from power. They would be forced to come back to Conservative principles, or be doomed to becoming Democrat, if they want to be relevant again.

NEWSDAY IS MORALLY BANKRUPT

Catholic League president Bill Donohue offered the following comments about
Newsday, the Long Island daily:


“There are two bills before the New York State legislature that address the sexual molestation of minors. One is sponsored by Margaret Markey; the other is by Vito Lopez. The Catholic Church favors the Lopez bill, and that is because, unlike the one that
Newsday likes, it does not discriminate on the basis of location: it applies to private and public institutions alike; the Markey bill gives public institutions a pass.

“Over the weekend,
Newsday ran several stories on the bills, and in every one of them it failed to tell the truth. Never once did it tell readers that the Markey bill does not apply to the public schools. The closest it came was in a news story that mentioned that Sean Dolan, spokesman for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, took issue with those like Michael Armstrong, a spokesman for the Markey bill. ‘While Dolan said the bill unfairly targets the Catholic Church, Armstrong said it would apply to victims in any institution—private or public—including schools.’ Armstrong is wrong. And since when does an unsubstantiated opinion substitute for accurate reporting?

“Paul Vitello wrote the following last week in the
New York Times about the Markey bill: ‘The disparity is built into the legal protections granted under existing state law to all public workers and agencies: to sue a public employee or agency for damages of any kind, a person is required to file a claim within 90 days of the alleged injury. A victim of childhood sex abuse by a public school teacher, for instance, has 90 days after turning 18 to file notice of a claim.’ Moreover, under Markey’s bill, someone who alleges he or she was molested in a Catholic school when JFK was president could now do so. Newsday knows this, but fails to say so. Instead, it publishes a piece by Joye Brown telling the Rockville Centre Diocese ‘to do nothing to stand in the lawmakers’ way.’ In other words, roll over and drop dead.

“We are contacting every parish on Long Island telling them about the lies and the anti-Catholicism of
Newsday.”
