Governor Mark Sanford on CNN

Serve Your Country Then Serve Your Time?

Will veterans have to worry about serving time for their service in the US military? It appears it may be possible for some with the FBI conducting operations naming veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan as extremists. How dare a governmental department target its own citizens as extremist threats simply for being political opponents or having differing views than their own agenda while purposely keeping our borders open so illegal aliens with any motive, including terrorism, can freely cross over. And, how dare they act like it is not as bad as conservatives are taking it! Now we are not only extremist and a threat, but we are also paranoid. Not only that, but if you stand up to a true extremist/terrorist threat you are persecuted for it. They are trying to scare their opposition into quiet submission. It is time for this to stop.

Secession Over Socialist Slavery?

According to a Rasmussen Reports poll 75% of Texans would vote to stay in the Union if the choice were put on a ballot. It also finds that 31% of Texans say they have the right to secede. These are just numbers, numbers from every day people who may or may not tell you what they really believe.

What is most important to remember is that when push comes to shove and when government becomes too oppressive Texans (and a lot of other Americans) don't just lie down and take it; they will push back. If given the right incentive their opinion changes and they will demand the liberties and freedoms that is their birthright as Americans.

Of course, everyone's first and foremost choice is for our Republic to remain the way our founding fathers instituted it. The best scenario is for the federal government (not just the Obama administration) to back off, give back state's rights, and fulfill their role the way it was intended.

The N.S.A. Tarets Americans

In the wake of the N.S.A.'s being outed for surveillance of American citizens and breaking the legal limits set by Congress the Obama administration goes into CYA mode and scolds the N.S.A. for those surveillance activities. The targeted Americans had their private e-mail messages and phone conversations intercepted by big brother.

There is a growing trend under the Obama administration of conservatives and conservative principles being dubbed terrorist or security threats. How much do you want to bet the targets were pro-life, pro-gun, pro-Constitution, Christian, anti-stimulus, and anti-tax? Obama's political opponents seem to have a way of ending up on these "potential threat" lists and someone always claims to not know about it.

Governor Rick Perry Stands Up For Texans

Gov. Rick Perry attended tea parties and while addressing his fellow Texans clearly articulated just where Texas stands. Texas has a history of fighting for it's rights and freedoms and that has not changed. Even today Texas is ready to stand up for sovereignty and individual's rights and freedoms.

Gov. Perry has made a stand against Obama's stimulus money and the slow bleed of power and freedom that our glutenous government has been syphoning from the states for decades. Not only do we need to support governors willing to stand up to the Obama administration, but we need to encourage those who are not to do so.

Support Our Law Enforcement Heroes

What is criminal about these stories is that good law enforcement officers and veterans are being persecuted for fulfilling their duty. Our government employs and deploys these men and women to protect this country and when these brave people do their jobs our government can't move fast enough to prosecute them. What is going on here is nothing more than political persecution and these heroes have become victims and political prisoners of a government that has become power hungry and is turning on its own. Please read their stories and support them whatever way you can.

Governor Rick Perry: Texas Sovereignty

I have disagreed with Gov. Rick Perry on a few things, but on this I could not agree with the man more. He is dead on in his speech and I was encouraged by the firmness with which he gave it. Every state in the Union needs to make this very same stand and put the federal government back in its proper role. Watch the video and see for yourself what a strong politician can be. Today, many of our elected officials have forgotten who they work for and the federal goverment has forgotten what the 10th Amendment is. Thank you Gov. Perry for reminding us all.

Catholic League News Release

New York Governor David Paterson will introduce a bill legalizing gay marriage tomorrow. Commenting on this is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

“In a Quinnipiac poll taken two weeks ago, New Yorkers resoundingly rejected gay marriage by a margin of 59-41 percent; even a majority of Democrats don’t support it. So why is Governor Paterson trying to force feed legislation the people don’t want? Moreover, this is not just another bill before the people—this is a bill that would radically alter the most basic and important institution in the nation.

“Paterson has received bad advice on many matters, and that is why his poll numbers are at record lows. But this advice is the worst yet. If two guys can get married, on what principle can the state deny three guys? It can’t. Marriage is not for men or women: its function is to provide for procreation and the establishment of a family. Nature limits that function to a man and a woman, and society ought to ratify nature, not try to best it.

“For all the happy talk about inclusion, gay marriage is positively exclusionary in its effects. How so? Next month we will celebrate Mother’s Day. How do two men tell their legally acquired children that they are excluded from celebrating this special day? How do two women tell their legally acquired children that they are excluded from celebrating Father’s Day? One way to do it is to ban these special days, and that is exactly what has already happened in some gay-friendly schools in New York City.

“So not only will New Yorkers be force fed gay marriage, they can look forward to the time when the despots censor Mother’s Day and Father’s Day in the schools. All in the name of tolerance, of course.”

Catholic League News Release

The Associated Press reports that in documents it recently reviewed, President Obama’s choice to head the department of health and human services, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, received three times as much money from late-term abortionist Dr. George Tiller than she previously acknowledged.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue weighed in on this issue today:

“The name Dr. George Tiller is synonymous with death. By his own admission, he has performed over 60,000 abortions. His specialty is killing babies in utero who are nearly born, or are already partially born. He is a master at that. This is the same guy who lavished Kathleen Sebelius with cash when she ran for office in Kansas: he knew what he was buying—a public official he knew wouldn’t betray him. Now we know how really generous he was.

“Sebelius testified that she received $12,450 from Tiller between 1994-2001. Here is what AP is reporting today: ‘What Sebelius left out: Campaign finance documents show that Tiller also contributed $10,000 to Sebelius’ Bluestem Fund PAC in September 2000, and his clinic, Women’s Health Care Services, contributed $8,000 to the PAC in December 2001 and another $5,000 in March 2002.’

“The real problem is not Sebelius’ habitual underreporting (she also had to pay more than $7,000 in back taxes): the real problem is the source of her PAC money. Tiller has to kill kids—he admits to killing 100 per week—in order to get the dough he needs to grease Sebelius. No wonder the last three archbishops of Kansas have publicly criticized her.

“If I were to inadvertently shake Tiller’s hand, I would immediately repair to the bathroom for a cleansing. I can’t imagine what kind of person would take tens of thousands of dollars from him, year after year, as well as throw parties for him in the Governor’s Mansion. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it.”

The F-22 Is Under Assault From The Obama Administration

Obama has no problem leveraging our children's future in an attempt to pay off all his supporters, but apparently he has no money left for the F-22. I must admit, I fell in love the first time I saw the fighter. She is sleek, agile, and powerful; a deadly combination.

I have already signed the petition in support of the F-22 and I encourage all of you to ask your senators to support the F-22 program. Hot Air has a worthwhile read on the jobs connected to the program. The bottom line is, why give up our greatest edge in air to air combat?

Since I finally found an excuse to post it, here is one of my favorite F-22 videos:

Chaotic Thoughts

I am sorry, the blog has been neglected lately. You know, when you have three kids and you go to four there is really no difference. But, when you go from four to five it seems as if the work and responsibility increases by a factor of ten. I still haven't been able to adjust my schedule so that I can get everything done. I need to help out with the upcoming campaigns, one current one is headed for recount, blog, and take care of the children. I plan to keep everything up to date so just bare with me for now.

The last couple of months have been frustrating, watching the new administration attempt to destroy our moral foundation as fast as possible. All of a sudden, I am hearing people say "can you believe Obama is so extreme on abortion?" and I am left wondering, were they asleep during the campaign?

In the local election I have been involved in I have witnessed a good conservative get slandered for starting his own business and not immediately being successful and then repeated attacks on him because of his superior education and conservative approach to government. Of course, these are the same uninformed citizens who will complain when jobs leave the area and corruption crops up at the local level.

We live in a very beautiful city that is starting to rot. Everyday the newspaper headlines are filled with job losses and sexual predators. Most people are under employed and with Gov. Doyle planning new tax hikes it appears things are only going to get worse. On top of all that, the number of illegal aliens living in our area has increased dramatically. Some haven't noticed yet because they live in the right neighborhoods, but in the not too distant future even the most disconnected won't be able to ignore it.

I am left to wonder if people are ever going to wake up. How far to the left does this Republic have to go? How many jobs do we have to lose? How many crimes do illegal aliens have to commit? What is the pain threshold before people finally decide to educate themselves? The older my children get the more concerned I am. What will the United States look like when they are older? will I even recognize it? We all can only do our part and I am trying to do mine. But, some days I wonder if it is even making a difference.

Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)

RSC Update: Monday, April 13, 2009

From the Chairman
Every American knows what happens on April 15th each year. Tax Day forces many to spend hours sweating over bank statements, tax forms, and financial calculators. It’s a day that embodies the frustration of hard-working Americans who’ve seen their tax dollars thrown into a never-ending stream of government bailouts, backstops, and non-stimulus spending sprees.
This year is different. The hours spent poring over tax forms may not have changed much, but for many Americans the level of frustration has reached the boiling point. They’ve been Taxed Enough Already (TEA)!

Organized by ordinary Americans, the TEA Party movement has swept across the country over the last several months. On April 15th, 2009, the movement reaches a crescendo. This year, Americans are coming together in a tidal wave of TEA Parties in hundreds of cities throughout the country. This grassroots movement is in the finest tradition of American civil protests. I strongly encourage you to take part. Your visible participation will inspire our nation to correct our current fiscally irresponsible path.

The time has come for Americans fed-up with the ‘leadership’ in Washington to let their government know that the status quo will no longer be accepted. It’s time Democrats in Congress learned that the American taxpayer is not a piggy bank for their reckless and destructive spending.

Visit or to find the TEA Party nearest you or to organize your own. Make this April 15th different.

RSC Media Activity
Every week, Republican Study Committee members work hard to ensure that the conservative viewpoint is well-represented in all corners of the media.

· Rep. John Campbell (CA-48): Obama, Pelosi Redefine Big Spending; Orange County Register, April 6.

· Chairman Tom Price (GA-06): Time to Pick Up the Pieces; Human Events, April 6.

RSC Policy Briefs
The RSC is constantly analyzing current public policy issues from a conservative perspective with an eye on future legislative developments.

· Unless Congress takes action, a number of tax increases will automatically occur in coming years.

· As Tax Day approaches, this information might be useful in helping others understand the enormous burden of complying with the federal tax code.

· President Barack Obama and the Democrat Leadership in Congress have imposed an exorbitant spending plan on the American people. But there is one part of the budget that is going to take a cut—our national defense, and especially, our ballistic missile defense system (BMDS). In light of these facts, the RSC’s National Security Working Group in coordination with Congressman Trent Frank’s office has prepared this document.

Catholic League News Release

A new television promo for “Angels & Demons” features actor Tom Hanks, who plays Harvard professor Robert Langdon, discussing “the 400 year myth of the Illuminati”; he says they “have come for their revenge” against the Vatican. Commenting on the video, and some recent comments by Hanks, is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

“Tom Hanks is on record saying he doesn’t believe in conspiracy theories. Yet that hasn’t stopped him from playing the lead role in two back-to-back conspiracy tales, both of which target the Catholic Church. ‘Conspiracy theories, I think…conjured up by people who can then sell their books about conspiracy theories,’ says Hanks. People like Dan Brown, author of
The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons

“Here’s more doublespeak. On Brown’s website he addresses the conspiratorial Illuminati: ‘It is historical fact that the Illuminati vowed vengeance against the Vatican in the 1600s.’ Wrong. It is an historical fact that there was no Illuminati until 1776; it folded in 1787.

“Were it not for savaging Catholicism, few would care about the duplicity of Brown and Hanks. But they are obviously not content to spin mysterious tales absent an anti-Catholic animus. That is why the Vatican denied them the opportunity to film on its grounds. It also explains the Catholic League’s on-going campaign to educate the public about their agenda.”
