Obama Administration Playing Games With National Security

I believe the Obama administration has already made our Republic less safe through selfish, politically motivated actions. So it was with great joy that I see Senator Mitch McConnell is taking the administration to task.

‘The question of where the terrorists at Guantanamo will be sent is no joking matter, and the administration needs to tell the American people how it will keep the terrorists at Guantanamo out of our neighborhoods and off of the battlefield’

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks Thursday on the Senate floor regarding Guantanamo:

“Today the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State will appear before the Appropriations Committee to support the administration’s request for funding to execute our combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. They’ll be explaining the need to expend more than $80 billion in our efforts to defeat the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and to preserve our security gains in Iraq.

“The administration’s request also includes $80 million to close the secure detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. Yet rather than appear before the Senate to explain why these funds are necessary, and what the administration plans to do with the terrorists housed at Guantanamo, Attorney General Holder chose to deliver a speech in Berlin yesterday in which he reiterated the administration’s intent to close it. McConnell Asks Gates What Will Be Done With Guantanamo Detainees

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Obama Administration is contemplating the release of “some” terrorist-trained inmates from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, into the United States, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing Thursday.

The comments came during questioning from Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell about the Administration’s plan for a specific group of detainees, Chinese nationals known as Uighurs. Asked if the plan was to simply “release them in the United States…not to be incarcerated, but just to be released,” Gates did not rule out the possibility.

“I’m not sure a final decision has been made,” Gates said, “[but] what I have heard people talking about is our taking some of the Uighurs” into the United States. [

Catholics on Notre Dame-Obama Flap

A Pew Research survey shows Catholics approve of the decision by Notre Dame to invite President Obama to give the Commencement address and receive an honorary degree by a decisive margin, 50-28. But the difference between practicing and non-practicing Catholics is profound. Practicing Catholics disapprove by a margin of 45-37 while non-practicing Catholics approve 56-23.

None of this is surprising. Practicing Catholics voted narrowly for McCain over Obama while non-practicing Catholics went big time for Obama. Those who don’t go to church too often tend to be pro-abortion and those who go to church on a regular basis tend to be pro-life.

Practicing Catholics, of course, are the ones who pay the bills. By definition, those who rarely go contribute little. Moreover, as Arthur C. Brooks has shown, the data clearly demonstrate that the most generous Americans are the most conservative and the most religious; the stingiest are the most liberal and the most secular. Meaning that even when non-practicing Catholics do go to church, they are not likely to give much.

Perhaps it’s time pollsters stopped counting non-practicing Catholics as Catholics. After all, those who rarely attend AA meetings aren’t a true reflection of the utility of AA programs. And vegetarians who regularly eat meat—save for occasions when they dine with practicing vegetarians—aren’t a true reflection of vegetarian sentiment on any given issue. In other words, non-practicing Catholics are not a true representation of Catholic opinion.

President Obama Likely to Pick Pro-Abortion Supreme Court Justice After Souter

by Steven Ertelt Editor
May 1, 2009

Washington, DC ( -- Now that pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice David Souter has announced his future retirement in June, speculation turns to President Barack Obama. During the presidential campaign, he made it clear he would only appoint a pro-abortion activist to the high court if given a chance to nominate a new judge. [

Texas Senate Gives Initial Approval to Allowing Ultrasound Viewing Before Abortion

by Steven Ertelt Editor
May 1, 2009

Austin, TX ( -- The Texas state Senate on Thursday gave initial approval to a bill that would allow women a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn baby prior to an abortion. Some sixteen states have such laws on the books that pro-life advocates hope will help lower the number of abortions further. [

Supreme Court Choice For Obama

This is exactly what we and other Conservatives warned about before the '08 election. That election was not just about the economy or making historical firsts; it was about placing the person who would be picking a number of the next Supreme Court Justices.

DR even warned that Supreme Court Justice David Souter could possibly leave an open seat. Well, now Obama's first opportunity is here and instead of getting the chance to replace a liberal justice with a conservative one we will now probably experience the placement of a justice with one of the most liberal and socialistic agendas, ever. God help the Conservatives and families.

After seeing what happens when RINO's win primaries I have decided to get into the endorsement and support business early this time. The first two endorsements we are making are for Pat Toomey and Michael Williams. Both of these men are solid Conservatives. If you have a blog I would like to encourage you to openly support these gentlemen. If you don't have a blog you can still get involved. Let's take our Party back from the RINO's.

I think most of you know Pat Toomey thanks to his excellent leadership at the Club for Growth so I am just going to post, for now, his release on Senator Specter's defection.

Pat Toomey’s Response to Senator Specter’s Party Switch
APRIL 28, 2009:

“Senator Specter’s decision is in keeping with his record. He is more at home in the Democratic Party than the Republican Party. That has been true for decades, not just true today.

In recent weeks, Senator Specter has made numerous statements about how important it is to deny Democrats the 60th seat in the U.S. Senate and how he categorically intended to remain a Republican to prevent one-party dominance in Washington.

What Pennsylvanians must now ask themselves is whether Senator Specter is in fact devoted to any principle other than his own reelection.”

Since Michael Williams may not be as well known I am going to post his stands on some of the issues.

Michael Williams on the Issues

Michael on the role of government:
We are made in the image of God and endowed with rights inherited from Him. Government’s primary responsibility is to advance the cause of freedom and promote, protect and secure the inalienable rights that were endowed to us by God. As such, the proper role of government is both limited and subordinate to man. In its proper role, the federal government would refrain from usurping the proper functions that should be performed by state and local governments—who are closer to the people. The federal government would assist individuals and institutions more immediate to the people only when the latter cannot fulfill their proper functions.

Michael on immigration:
America is a nation of immigrants. We value legal immigration, control of our borders and ending illegal immigration. Border control is a matter of national security. Amnesty is an affront to the rule of law. To reduce illegal immigration, we must secure the border first with both physical and virtual fences as well as more patrols; aggressively enforce sanctions against employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants; immediately deport immigrant felons; require applicants for a temporary work visa to return home and maintain a tamper-proof identification card. We must end the cover provided by lawless sanctuary cities to illegal immigrants.

Michael on citizenship:
Coming to America should be about more than just coming for a job. Coming to America is about coming to be an American. In order to gain citizenship in the United States, new immigrants should be required to learn English.

Michael on the environment:
We have a moral duty to be good stewards of God’s creation. We can have a strong economy and a healthy environment. But that requires pro-growth energy and environment solutions. Pro-growth energy and environment solutions – those that rely on innovation, entrepreneurship and new technology—will yield more clean, affordable and reliable energy for America’s families and businesses.

Michael on energy security:
On energy, our motto should be “all of the above”. We should drill for more American oil and natural gas here in America. We should accelerate the commercialization of clean coal technologies with carbon capture and storage, build more nuclear plants to reduce carbon emissions, and expand the utilization of alternative and renewable energy sources. Energy efficiency and conservation advances our energy security because every kilowatt we do not consume is a kilowatt we do not have to generate.

Michael on the federal income tax:
The federal income tax system is unfair. We should eliminate death and capital gains taxes, move to an optional single rate flat tax, allow the investment in new equipment to be written off in one year and make permanent the research and development tax credit.

Michael on faith in the public square:
The separation of church and state does not mean that there can be no reference to God in government-sanctioned activities or on public grounds. Our children should be allowed a moment of silence to pray if they desire. Crosses or other religious symbols should be able to remain on public property and the phrase “One Nation Under God” should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Michael on the Second Amendment:
The 2nd amendment is clear. I have never understood the wisdom of restricting access to firearms by law-abiding citizens as if that will also keep guns out of the hands of people already predisposed to committing crimes. The 2nd amendment, and its free exercise by law-abiding citizens, makes our communities safer. And I am proud to be a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Michael on math and science learning:
In 2001, the bipartisan Hart-Rudman Commission on American National Security stated that the second greatest threat to national security, following only the use of weapons of mass destruction against American cities, was the failure of math and science education. Inspiring the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians (STEMs) is central to American prosperity and our national defense. American students must, once again, lead the world in math and science.

Michael on abortion:
The Declaration of Independence states, “we hold these truths to be self evident”, namely, that we are all created equal and are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, the first of which is the right to life”. Life begins at conception. We should vigorously oppose abortion on demand, embryonic stem cell research, partial birth abortion, and allowing babies who have survived an abortion to die. As people of compassion we must defend the rights of the most vulnerable, the unborn. With millions of couples seeking to adopt a child, we must do everything possible to encourage life.

Michael on the war on terror:
Al Qaeda, Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas and similar terrorist organizations pose serious threats to the United States. We must help defend America and our allies, remain vigilant to survive an attack on our soil and defeat our enemies.

Here is Michael Williams at a Texas Tea Party:

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a revealing news story about the upcoming movie, “Angels & Demons”:

“There will be no Muslim assassin in the film version of Dan Brown’s book,
Angels & Demons
; director Ron Howard has seen to that. But, of course, he has no problem culturally assassinating Catholicism. And it’s not just Howard who is the hypocrite: co-producer Brian Grazer, and the production studio, Sony, are guilty of giving Muslims a pass while sticking it to Catholics.

“After 9/11, NBC toyed with the idea of doing a mini-series on the events of that tragic day. Grazer was to produce the film, but it never materialized due to its controversial nature. More important, Grazer said it was his goal to ‘humanize’ Muslims, specifically denouncing any attempt to ‘demonize’ them. Evidently, it’s just Catholics who are worthy of being demonized: Grazer co-produced ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and now he is co-producing ‘Angels & Demons.’

“Last year, with less than four days to go before Sony released a video game, LittleBigPlanet, it recalled every copy before it hit the stores. Why? One of the background songs contained two Arabic expressions found in the Koran, and that was considered a no-no. ‘We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense this may have caused.’ But there will be no action—immediate or delayed—to rectify the propaganda against Catholicism in ‘Angels & Demons,’ and there most certainly will be no apology.

“It’s all so sick. Radical Muslims fly our planes into our buildings, killing thousands, and Muslims across the board are afforded more respect than the rescue workers—most of whom were Catholic—who lost their lives on 9/11. The cultural inversions continue to multiply, and the level of hypocrisy is at a record high. If only Hollywood thought of Catholics as if they were Muslims! If it did, the Catholic League would fold in a New York minute.”

Wisconsin, Just Give Doyle Your Pay Checks Now

Gov. Jim Doyle just blasted away at Wisconsin workers' pay checks again. His insistence on increasing taxes and fees rather than cutting spending is going to take major bite out of our ever dwindling ability to provide for our families. On top of running out businesses and jobs by the boat load because employers cannot afford the taxes they now want those who are suffering the most to make up for it. How do you like Doyle now?

Border Patrol agents ordered NOT to wear protective masks against Mexican swine flu!

The Swine Flu Hoax

The swine flu has “officially” killed ONE person in the United States who wasn’t even a US citizen, but from Mexico. First of all, if our borders were secured by Bush we would not have people crossing into the United States carrying this flu and those traveling across the border legally would be properly evaluated.

Second of all, if this flu was as big of a threat as VP Joe Biden is making it out to be then Obama would have immediately secured the border himself; he didn’t. Obama’s excuse is that the flu is already here. Wow what a line of complete insanity. The fewer epicenters you have for a disease the easier it is to control it.

When something breaks out that is a true serious concern there will be no question; there would be security and quarantines enforced by the military and law enforcement agencies. You don’t see this because they are hyping the danger.

Regular strains of flu that we see in the US everyday kill over 30,000 people a year, yet they are not calling this an epidemic, they are not warning people to stay off of subways and planes and they certainly do not issue travel advisories. So who is the boy crying wolf?

I think the Obama administration has a specific agenda behind their “CONCERNS AND WARNINGS!” and using fear of something that is not the eminent threat the media is helping them make it out to be; getting Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius confirmed as health and human services secretary and the Senate fell for it yesterday and getting socialized medicine pushed through. What a pathetic excuse for a government that needs to use hoaxes and elementary school games to get what they want.

Do You Feel Safer?

Random Thoughts Of A Determined Mother

I am a mother of 5, I work a 40'ish hour full-time job and a 30'ish hour part-time job and I make it a priority to stay on top of what is going on. I believe I cannot afford to let things slip by without taking notice, because this busy life of mine could disappear; along with everything I know and am comfortable with.

Our founding fathers purposely set up our government to be continually challenged and changed by the people. If people become too wrapped up in their lives to tend to their government, will that government not grow out of control with greed and power?

I am in no way judging anyone or letting accusations fly in any direction, only trying to wake a sleeping giant that has hibernated too long; that of the American people.

Here is what I think about what is going on:

Obama has reached too far too fast. He is on a fast track to stripping away subtle rights from all of us, while speaking with a forked tongue; convincing America he is the hope and change they have been waiting for.

He has mortgaged away ours, our children's, and our grandchildren's chances at prosperity. They will all be born into debt thanks to the leftists' glutinous and unbacked spending. He has placed us into the debt of China, one of the biggest threats America has.

He has stripped away two of the only reasons God has blessed this Republic so immensely; the sanctity of life and our protection of Israel. He has taken our Constitution and convinced the crowds that it is no longer pertinent and shredded any validity that was left of it.

He has placed us one step away from centralized medical records, leading to socialized medicine, and government control of who is worthy of medical care and who is a drain on society.

Obama has done all of this, with the help of the Democrat controlled Congress, and to pay for it all he is about to raise everyone's taxes. The masses who believed they were getting a tax credit overlooked the new fees, fines, and taxes that were popping up in their everyday lives and believed his spin that they would not see an increase in their income tax. He even gave away a false tax break in the workers' pay checks to keep up appearances. BTW, this tax break amounts to about $7.00 a week for most people. Wow, that would even put a dent in the higher taxes I will be paying because I work two jobs.

This is why the Tea Parties not only happened, but are continuing until our government gets the message and changes it. It is not just a protest against increased taxes, but a protest against a rogue president and Congress removing "We the People" from the picture.

We will have to make some sacrifices and we will be inconvenienced. We will have to make leaps of faith and become uncomprimising in our principles. We will have to remind our government who the boss really is; it is essential that we reign in the beast of the Obama administration and this Congress.

Just a few thoughts;-)

The NRSC Still Has Not Learned Its Lesson

I was shocked when I read at Hot Air today that the NRSC may not support Pat Toomey and may instead back another RINO candidate. I immediately called them and in very polite terms said I was disappointed and that I hoped they would change their mind and support Toomey; otherwise I would not support them in any way.

The guy who answered was extremely rude and hung up on me. I called back and got through to a woman this time. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she refused. She asked what my problem was. I went through the whole ordeal with her and again repeated my request to speak to a supervisor. She told me no, that she would handle it, and that my concerns were unjustified because the NRSC was supporting Toomey.

I read the quotes from Senators Hatch and Cornyn in the Hot Air article that stated otherwise. She then put me on hold, came back on, and said they have not decided who they will support, but that they needed to go with someone who could actually win.

I said something to the effect of 'fine, if you go with a RINO I will not support the NRSC in any way.....'. She addressed me like a parent does a little child and promptly let me go. That is the legist of the call. I was raised to say sir and mam so I assure you I was polite.

I am done with the NRSC. I will never support them. This is the arrogance and ignorance that lost us the last two elections. A conservative candidate can't win because their own Party trashes them every chance they get.

From now on I am going to just stick with my practice of supporting conservative candidates directly and I have a couple of suggestions for anyone who feels like joining me. First of all, the Senate Conservatives Fund supports only conservative candidates and Texas has a great Conservative running for Senate, Michael Williams. I cannot wait to support him. I will officially be endorsing him either tonight or tomorrow; along with Pat Toomey.

Support for Republicans went up two points and Democrats lost a point. As the Democrats lose more and more support from voters the GOP has benefited. To keep their gains the GOP must accept that they must return to conservative principles or risk losing any benefits from falling support for their political opponents.

Specter's Wishy Washy Record

Specter has a long history of switching sides. He has never had the fortitude to stick to a principle so it is no surprise he committed his latest sin. However, I personally believe there is no loss whatsoever for the Republicans. He voted with the Democrats anyways so this changes nothing. I like the points Pat Toomey makes in this piece and call on those making a huge deal out of this to let it go; we are better off without him and can quit wasting time and stress on a RINO.

Thomas Sowell On The Housing Market

Thomas Sowell hits the nail on the head in this article on the housing market. The saying is that the road to hell is paved with good intentions and we are definitely in a housing market hell. Why is it that renting is so frowned upon. It is what responsible people do when they understand that they do not have the disposable income to maintain a home without abusing credit.

REPOSTED: Meet The Real Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, And The Democrats Who Support

This piece is also being reposted by request.
How does it not surprise me that the true foundation of Planned Parenthood, a big part of the Democrat agenda, is socialist; as was it's founder, Margaret Sanger. A woman who obviously was not reconciled with her mother's life and death and was raised by a socialist father; she strayed down the notorious wrong path blaming God and tragedy for the circumstances of her life. Instead of relying on God for understanding she turned from him in the most hateful and vile ways.

This woman did not happen upon her beliefs and opportunities; she sought them out with contempt. She believed in purification of the races. She inspired Adolf Hitler in his views of eugenics and "murdering socially undesirable people." This included those who were poor, handicapped in any manner, and African-Americans.

This master-mind of hate, murder, and racism pushed her agenda in a time when her views were considered a crime, yet she was partially successful in instituting part of her beliefs in our society; the devil is live and well. You should read and learn more about her for yourself. It is truly horrifying, especially knowing this is part of the platform of the Democrat Party. If you doubted that Nancy Pelosi and Barrack Obama were socialists, you will finally be exposed to the truth.

Here are some of Margaret Sanger's own quotes to chill you to the bone:

"The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."Margaret Sanger (editor). The Woman Rebel, Volume I, Number 1. Reprinted in Woman and the New Race. New York: Brentanos Publishers, 1922.

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."Margaret Sanger's December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts. Original source: Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College, North Hampton, Massachusetts. Also described in Linda Gordon's Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America. New York: Grossman Publishers, 1976.

REPOSTED: Margaret Sanger: The Evil Behind Planned Parenthood In Her Own Words

Because this has been a topic in the news recently and due to a request from my husband and a question from Lara I am reposting this Margaret Sanger piece.
The information available on Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, is endless. Her agenda was evil, selfish, and racist. Although Planned Parenthood likes to hand pick what parts of Sanger's agenda they are willing to admit they cannot hide the truth. Her beliefs in eugenics are/were shared by many who practice it to the point of genocide, like Adolf Hitler. She was so twisted she actually warped Biblical verses and was so racist that she believed minorities were human waste and diseases the needed to be completely eliminated from the human race.

She spent her life pushing Eugenics and the world willingly dove into the den of lions that despised them and would devour them and their children. I previously posted a couple of her quotes; here are more of her outrageously demented beliefs that the uneducated and immoral have been more than happy to climb into bed with. I find it ironic that many of the people she sought to wipe from the face of the Earth naively espouse and advocate her agenda.

When you place your vote in November, remember that Barack Obama holds several of these views and believes so strongly, to the core, that abortion should continue he would rather vote that a child born alive after a botched abortion should die, whether directly or by neglect, than put abortion rights at risk. This is infanticide in the name of eugenics. No matter what name you give it, abortion or birth control, it is genocide; it is murder.

"Eugenics is … the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems."

Margaret Sanger. "The Eugenic Value of Birth Control Propaganda." Birth Control Review, October 1921, page 5.

"More children from the fit, less from the unfit -- that is the chief aim of birth control."
Birth Control Review, May 1919, p. 12

As an advocate of birth control I wish ... to point out that the unbalance between the birth rate of the 'unfit' and the 'fit,' admittedly the greatest present menace to civilization, can never be rectified by the inauguration of a cradle competition between these two classes. In this matter, the example of the inferior classes, the fertility of the feeble-minded, the mentally defective, the poverty-stricken classes, should not be held up for emulation....
On the contrary, the most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective.

Margaret Sanger. "The Eugenic Value of Birth Control Propaganda." Birth Control Review, October 1921, page 5.

“Organized charity itself is the symptom of a malignant social disease. Those vast, complex, interrelated organizations aiming to control and to diminish the spread of misery and destitution and all the menacing evils that spring out of this sinisterly fertile soil, are the surest sign that our civilization has bred, is breeding and perpetuating constantly increasing numbers of defectives, delinquents and breed out of the race the scourges of transmissible disease, mental defect, poverty, lawlessness, crime … since these classes would be decreasing in number instead of breeding like weeds....such a plan would … reduce the birthrate among the diseased, the sickly, the poverty stricken and anti-social classes, elements unable to provide for themselves, and the burden of which we are all forced to carry”
Margaret Sanger quotes (American Founder of the birth control movement in the United States and an international leader in the field. 1879-1966)

"Our failure to segregate morons who are increasing and multiplying ... demonstrates our foolhardy and extravagant sentimentalism ... [Philanthropists] encourage the healthier and more normal sections of the world to shoulder the burden of unthinking and indiscriminate fecundity of others; which brings with it, as I think the reader must agree, a dead weight of human waste. Instead of decreasing and aiming to eliminate the stocks that are most detrimental to the future of the race and the world, it tends to render them to a menacing degree dominant ... We are paying for, and even submitting to, the dictates of an ever-increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all."
Margaret Sanger. The Pivot of Civilization, 1922. Chapter on "The Cruelty of Charity," pages 116, 122, and 189. Swarthmore College Library edition.

“Every single case of inherited defect, every malformed child, every congenitally tainted human being brought into this world is of infinite importance to that poor individual; but it is of scarcely less importance to the rest of us and to all of our children who must pay in one way or another for these biological and racial mistakes"
(Pivot of Civilization, p. 274).

"The third group [of society] are those irresponsible and reckless ones having little regard for the consequences of their acts, or whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers. An Opportunity To Turn New Mexico Red

Last night I did a post where I mentioned opportunities for the Republican Party. Well, here is one in New Mexico. This is just another example of Democrats in leadership failing. I, however, would like to hear more about how Conservative principles will help the state. We definitely have to point out Democrat failings, but that should be secondary to our Conservative vision and principles. I have faith New Mexico will go red.

Conservatives Vs. Liberals - Warm Fuzzies And Cold Pricklies

If you have any doubt about which political party is the true racists and bigots all you need to do is go to any thesaurus and reference the terms conservative and liberal. This widely used and liberally written resource tells a lot about those who articulate fake sediments like warm fuzzies and cold pricklies and tolerating others (except Christian, Conservatives, and anyone from the South).

When I stumbled upon the entry for conservative and noted the bigoted, hateful, and racists way the referred to conservative I had to see what niceties would ooze from the entry for liberal; and I was right. Read them for yourself and tell me liberals are not the very things they accuse conservatives of being.

Arlen Specter's Defection, A Blessing In Disguise

When the news broke today that Arlen Specter finally owned up to what he was and officially joined the Democrat Party a couple of things happened. One, the MSM rejoiced and started proclaiming the downfall of the Republican Party. Two, the same party officials who had been actively supporting Specter over Conservative Pat Toomey are now calling him everything under the sun.

I don't know why they are so shocked. Anyone with a brain could have told them that Specter has never been a Republican. He is a Democrat who jumped on the Reagan bandwagon because it was politically expedient; just ask Judge Bork. He has first hand knowledge of Specter's disloyalty.

Specter has already been voting with the Democrats and helping them push their agenda. All that happens now is they changed the R at the end of his name to a D and we no longer have to waste our credibility and resources on re-electing him. This is a positive for the Party and a chance to move forward and we all have to get that point out or we will lose this opportunity.

Some of the RINO's are already complaining that the Republican Party is too Conservative. The truth is, the Republican base is just as conservative as when Reagan was President, but the elected officials that represent the Party are all-to-often with the Democrats they should be opposing.

The narrative is the Republican Party is too Conservative and will keep losing elections until we learn to be like the Democrats and embrace big government. Well I hate to break it to you, that is what the Republican Party did and it is why we lost.

Conservatism is the way back to the majority.

Too many, in our own Party, will not even attempt to support true Conservative candidates. They claim a Conservative can't win; we will just be giving up the seat if we support the Conservative.

The problem is too many who claim to be Conservatives simply are not.

I know a lot of my readers liked President Bush, but let's be honest he was a big government Republican not a Conservative. Sen. Bill Frist, nice guy, but again a moderate Republican. We haven't had a Conservative in leadership and it shows and by so many idly sitting by and saying nothing we encouraged it.

By allowing Conservatism to be applied to RINO's we allowed their big government and out-of-control spending policies that have nothing to do with Conservatism to tarnish it. Liberal policies fail, they always have through out history and they always will. Some of our elected officials can whine all they want, that is the lesson learned from the last couple of elections.

There are no blue and red states, let' be honest. Most people don't vote and don't follow politics. It is up to us and the candidates who run to energize and educate these people. In the ideal world people would self educate, but this is not an ideal world.

Conservative ideals are American ideals. It is what we were founded on. The majority of the country will be with us if we show them effective leadership deals with the issues facing them, while at the same time limiting the government impact on their lives; so that they can be free to live their lives as they see fit. Which is the whole reason our founding fathers fought so hard for their independence.

Obama won because we were a failure at governing. Most of our elected leadership had no interest in actually fixing problems. The Bush tax cuts were not made permanent because they wanted to be able to run on that issue. The border wasn't secured because Bush wanted cheap labor. The flat tax was never passed because too many interests want their deductions.

The bottom line is 2010 and 2012 can be very good years for us. Arlen Specter's defection is just the latest blessing. It is removing the deadwood to allow for new Conservative growth.

Obama and the Democrats have gone too far to the left and there will be a consequence at the ballot box if we provide a true Conservative alternative. We can start by not attacking Conservatives who run for office with "they can't win". I cringe every time I hear one of our talking heads repeating that. You don't see the Democrats on the air saying their socialist candidates can't win. Instead they talk about how they are going to win and that is what we should be doing.

Reagan's landslide win was not that long ago.

Let's make it happen again.

Arlen Specter Drops All Pretences And Joins Democrat Party

I am going to have a lot more later, I just don't have the time now, but here is the article. What a waste of time. The Party was just recently defending him. I say good-riddance. BTW, if you want to support a true conservative in Pennsylvania support Pat Toomey.

Founding Fathers Quote

We have heard of the impious doctrine in the old world, that the people were made for kings, not kings for the people. Is the same doctrine to be revived in the new, in another shape - that the solid happiness of the people is to be sacrificed to the views of political institutions of a different form? It is too early for politicians to presume on our forgetting that the public good, the real welfare of the great body of the people, is the supreme object to be pursued; and that no form of government whatever has any other value than as it may be fitted for the attainment of this object.

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on President Obama’s selection of Dr. Eric Goosby to be the new U.S. global AIDS coordinator and director of the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief:

“The problem with this selection is not so much Dr. Goosby, it is the pressure he will be under to deny conscience rights to those who work for such agencies as Catholic Relief Services. Moreover, the progress that the Bush administration made in combating AIDS in Africa is now in jeopardy.

“Dr. Mark R. Dybul was in charge of this office under President Bush. An openly gay man, he worked to insure conscience rights for Catholic workers and made certain that abstinence programs were not gutted in the fight against AIDS. On January 9, he was told that he had been asked by President-elect Obama to stay on in this job. But as soon as Obama was sworn in, he was thrown out: on January 22, one day after Hillary Clinton was confirmed as secretary of state, he was notified by her staff to find another job. Why? News reports show that Dybul was accused of working too closely with the Catholic Church. Goosby’s name was then floated, but because it seemed like a rush to judgment, many complained that the process was unfair. So Goosby’s appointment was held up.

“Right now, agencies like Catholic Relief Services can opt out of programs that provide for condom distribution. But under Goosby, this may change. He will be under enormous pressure by radical feminists, gay activists and assorted sexologists to force faith-based organizations to get on board or get out.

“The scientific evidence on AIDS prevention in Africa shows that nothing succeeds better than partner reduction; the Catholic Church has led the way in this effort. As recently demonstrated by Helen Epstein in
The Invisible Cure: Africa, the West and the Fight Against AIDS, partner reduction has been more effective than condom use in fighting AIDS in Africa. Yet condom worship continues unabated, especially in the White House.”

New Jersey Gov Candidate Chris Christie Leads Polls, Has Pro-Life Backing

by Steven Ertelt Editor
April 27, 2009

Trenton, NJ ( -- New Jersey is one of just a handful of states with significant elections this November and the latest polls show a candidate, Chris Christie, who is running as a pro-life advocate, leading in both the Republican primary and the potential general election matchup. There are six weeks to go before the June 2 primary contest.

A Qunnipiac University poll conducted in mid-April showed Christie, a former U.S. attorney, ahead of his closest primary competitor, pro-life former Bogota mayor Steven Lonegan, by 9 points. [

Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)

RSC Update: Monday, April 27, 2009

From the Chairman

The first 100 days of a president’s term mark a milestone by which we try to evaluate the administration’s agenda and the direction it aims to take over the coming years. With President Obama’s 100th day approaching on April 29, it’s safe to say we’ve never seen anything quite like this before. The President has wasted no time in implementing his runaway spending agenda, passing numerous bills that mortgage the country’s future and pile mountains of debt upon future generations – all under the guise of economic recovery. Meanwhile, we continue to see higher unemployment numbers, bank lending remains stagnant, and the “shovel ready” projects that were touted by a host of voices in Washington are blocked by lines of red tape.

In less than 100 days, President Obama has managed to rack up more new debt than any of his predecessors accumulated in their entire first YEAR. It has taken only 3 months for him to add over half of a trillion dollars in NEW debt.

Fortunately, all has not been lost. As President Obama continues to push his radical agenda on American taxpayers, the Republican Study Committee has focused not only on opposing this spending spree, but offering positive solutions that can help put the country back on the right track. Over the last few months, we have introduced legislation that would have balanced the budget, stimulated the economy through tax cuts and less government spending, protected a worker’s right to a secret ballot, and protected welfare reform.

Just as this is only the beginning of President Obama’s reckless spending agenda, this is also only the beginning of the RSC’s battle for fiscal sanity. We will continue to press forward with positive conservative solutions, but we can’t do it without your support. If someone you know wants to join our fight, please send them to and have them sign up for our news and alerts.

Thanks for your support!

Congressman Tom Price, M.D.
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

RSC Media Activity
Every week, Republican Study Committee members work hard to ensure that the conservative viewpoint is well-represented in all corners of the media.

· Rep. Michele Bachmann (MN-06): MIT Professor Sets the Record Straight on Ca-and-Trade; Townhall, April 22.

· Rep. Pete Hoekstra (MI-02): Congress Knew about the Interrogations; Wall Street Journal, April 23.

· Rep. Buck McKeon (CA-25): Let the Tea Parties Continue; Flash Report, April 23.

· Rep. Joe Pitts (PA-16): Cap-and-Tax is a Wealth Transfer Program; NetRight Nation, April 24.

RSC Legislative Activity
RSC members have made it a priority to introduce productive, conservative alternatives to the Democrats’ reckless agenda.

· Rep. Mike Coffman (CO-06) will introduce the Social Security Number Fraud and Identity Theft Prevention Act, a common-sense proposal that will increase cooperation between the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security in identifying individuals using fraudulent Social Security numbers.

· Rep. Duncan D. Hunter (CA-52) will introduce the Border Sovereignty and Protection Act. This sweeping legislation will build 350 miles of border infrastructure, increase penalties for weapons smuggling, deny reimbursement for illegal immigrant sanctuary cities, and make E-Verify mandatory.

The Week Ahead
Here is a preview of upcoming Democrat proposals to advance their big-government, anti-taxpayer agenda.

· The House will begin to consider the final version of President Obama’s $3.6 trillion budget. The President’s proposal will create $1.6 trillion in new taxes while still managing to create the ten largest annual budget deficits in American history. This budget defines fiscal recklessness.

· The House will also consider an ill-conceived “hate crimes” bill that will trample First Amendment rights and subvert private religious teachings on morality.

· Wednesday, April 29, marks President Obama’s 100th day in office. The RSC is keeping a running count on the President’s most egregious policy failures here.

Money Monitor
Each week, the
RSC Money Monitor tracks how bills passed by the House affect authorizations, mandatory spending, and federal government revenue. With Congress out of session, no new spending was authorized last week.

Benedict XVI. Saints proclaim the Glory of God

Catholic League News Release

Harvard Law Professor Mary Ann Glendon has written an open letter to Notre Dame president Rev. John Jenkins explaining why she cannot accept the Laetare Medal on Commencement Day, May 17.

Glendon took note of the University’s decision to award President Barack Obama an honorary degree, something which flies in the face of the express will of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB): in 2004, the USCCB issued a document requesting Catholic institutions to not honor “those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles.”

In her letter, Glendon also took exception to official statements by Notre Dame on this issue. “President Obama won’t be doing all the talking. Mary Ann Glendon, former U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican, will be speaking as the recipient of the Laetare Medal,” said one statement. In another, it was noted that it would be “a good thing for the President” to hear Glendon’s address.

Glendon referred to Obama as “a prominent and uncompromising opponent of the Church’s position on issues involving fundamental principles of justice.” She also said her decision to reject the offer was motivated by “recent news reports that other Catholic schools are similarly choosing to disregard the Bishops’ guidelines.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded as follows:

“Mary Ann Glendon is a friend and a member of the Catholic League’s board of advisors. As usual, she made the right choice. The decision by Father Jenkins to honor a man who is the hero of Planned Parenthood is delinquent enough, but the ultimate insult was the specious moral reasoning used to justify it. Playing off Glendon against Obama—as if her legitimate presence legitimates his illegitimate presence—is simply outrageous.

“If Father Jenkins thinks it is important for President Obama to learn from Professor Glendon, then let him audit one of her classes. Alternatively, she can send him a tape.”

Catholic League News Release

On her radio show of April 24, Dr. Laura Schlessinger engaged a caller on the subject of priestly sexual abuse. Dr. Laura said she was “stunned” that the penalties for abuse “were not more severe.” She continued by saying, “So because of that I no longer, you have not heard me in all these years tell anybody to send their kids to Catholic school, where in the past I did that all the time.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented as follows:

“I will not lose faith in Dr. Laura simply because she is not up to speed on this issue, but I cannot sit back and indulge her cluelessness. Quite frankly, as anyone who has read the John Jay Reports on this subject knows, the vast majority of abuse took place between the mid-1960s and the mid-1980s, at the height of the sexual revolution. The bill may have come due in 2002—the year the
Boston Globe
exposed the Boston Archdiocese as the epicenter of the problem—but this hardly justifies the conclusion that nothing has been done to correct the situation in recent times.

“Indeed, I would challenge Dr. Laura to name a single institution—private or public—that has instituted a ‘zero tolerance’ policy, save for the Catholic Church. Every staff person and volunteer who works for the Church has had to undergo the most rigorous training seminars on the subject of the sexual abuse of minors, something unmatched by any other organization. Indeed, if Dr. Laura wants to know which institution is responsible for the lion’s share of this problem today, she needs to take a serious look at the public schools. And then she might investigate why so little reform has been instituted. I can save her the time—it’s called the teachers unions.

“Here’s the number of credible accusations made against the over 40,000 priests in the last few years: 2008 (10); 2007 (4); 2006 (14); 2005 (9).

“Dr. Laura’s moral compass remains one of the finest indices of sanity in the nation. Indeed, we are big fans of hers. But she does need to correct the record.”

Mary Ann Glendon Turns Down Notre Dame And The Laetare Medal

Way to go Mary Ann! In a stunning and moving stand for the Catholic Church and its teachings Mary Ann Glendon has informed Notre Dame that she will not be accepting the Laetare Medal. Her reasons were clearly stated in her correspondence, which included Notre Dame's intent to award the president an honorary degree. Thank God for living examples of virtue.

Lake Michigan's Water Level Rising Again

For so long there has been great concern about the water levels of Lake Michigan. With the water levels on the rise it looks as if we can all relax. With so much precipitation and snow falling over the last year I am not surprised the Lake and the rivers would be benefiting now. Although it was tough going when shoveling all that wonderful snow, it is nice now to know that such a good thing came out of it.

The Cost Of Obama's Border Policies

Obama Risks American Lives Open Border for Mexican Flu

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC calls on the Obama administration to immediately close the southern border and restrict all inbound air and ground traffic from Mexico to emergencies and product delivery immediately to protect American lives from the Mexican Swine Flu outbreak.

"The Obama administration's failure to secure our borders against a possible pandemic is putting American lives at risk at a time when days and hours matter," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "The weak and inadequate "passive surveillance" described during Sunday's press conference is offensive to the rational mind."

Instead of advising American tourists not to travel to Mexico, or closing border crossings and air travel gates to essential travel only, the Obama administration is treating Mexico like a 51st state, instead of separate nation.

ALIPAC is also critical of Obama administration's failure to appoint key leadership prior to this crisis. America is entering this crisis without a secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) or appointees in any of the department’s 19 key posts. President Barack Obama has not yet chosen a surgeon general or the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. His choice to run the Food and Drug Administration awaits confirmation.

"Obama was playing golf Sunday. Instead, he should have been addressing the nation, securing the borders, and filling the gaps in our government leadership from an emergency command center!" said William Gheen. "He refuses to send troops to the border to stop the violence from spilling over or the Mexican flu from crossing into America. Instead we get second tier bureaucrats telling Americans to wash our hands and cover our mouths when we cough like a bunch of 1st grade students."

Obama recently traveled to Mexico to pledge his support for Comprehensive Immigration Reform Amnesty and the unconstitutional implementation of the Security and Prosperity Partnership launched under the Bush administration found at The SPP, which has no approval from the American public or Congressional oversight states borders should remain open during pandemics... "(border restrictions) will not be more restrictive or maintained longer than necessary to achieve the veterinary or public health objective so as to avoid unnecessary interference with the movement of people and goods within North America."

The Mexican Swine Flu outbreak impact on the American populace will be more severe due to the lack of action by the Obama administration, their failure to appoint a head of Health and Human Services and a Surgeon General and Obama's adherence to an economic plan which supersedes US Sovereignty, the laws of Congress, and civilian control.

"We are asking our supporters to call their Congressional representatives immediately to demand that Congress hold emergency hearings to override the open borders policies of the Obama administration and protect our citizens from this potential pandemic." said William Gheen.

Mexican Woes Continue

As if the cost of illegal immigration, the overspill of violence and drugs, and contaminated Mexican foods are enough for the US to bare now we have to worry about the swine flu. When will our government get it? Borders have a purpose; they protect the citizens within them. When will Americans stand up and demand that protection be enforced? These types of things will continue to happen until our borders are secured.

Scott Walker's Special Announcement Tuesday

Obviously, we all know that Scott Walker is going to announce his run for governor on Tuesday, even though it has only been advertised as a special announcement. I think it is important to maximize the turn out to show that Wisconsin is fed up with Doyle and ready for a conservative in Madison. Click here for locations and times.

A lot of us have supported the Tea Party movement and have been fed up with the increases of taxes and fees in the state. Now here is an opportunity to actively support a conservative that will change the direction of this state. Will Wisconsin residents stand up or just complain? I plan on strongly supporting Scott Walker and I hope that you will too.
