The Pill Kills Women - June 6, 2009 - Help Get The Truth Out

I just read a very interesting and frightening fact: In 1956 Dr. Gregory Pincus, a colleague of Margaret Sanger's, tested the pill on poor, uneducated women in Puerto Rico to gain FDA approval in the US. Even after experiencing adverse side effects and numerous deaths they pushed the pill through anyhow.

Pro-choice supporters use women's health as their justification for killing millions of babies and promoting contraceptives, but they won't tell you the dirty secret behind contraceptives; they are killing and harming women. Oral contraceptives can cause pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, hypertensive disease, heart failure, stroke, and increases a woman's risk of cardiovascular death by five times.

These facts are being overlooked and masked by terms such as safe and convenient, and understudied because millions of the dollars that are invested in this potential health hazard. Lawsuits have been won by victims of the pill, yet they still are not actively investigating the pill as a factor in the deaths and injuries incurred by users.

Another fact that is obscured by medical lingo is that the pill chemically aborts babies. This is why the pill is not accepted by Catholic teaching. It does not just prevent pregnancy, it kills newly formed life. A woman is not told this when she given information on the pill, but if you read the fine print the horrible truth is there.

On Saturday, June 6, 2009, protesters around the country will be out to inform people of the dangers of using the pill; its not about women's health, it is about lining the pockets of selfish and deceitful people who only care about the almighty dollar. You can help spread the truth and save lives.

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer: Just Say No to Judicial Affirmative Action

President Obama thinks he has thrown the pro-life movement a curve ball by nominating a politically-correct relatively unknown minor judge as a candidate for the Supreme Court. Putting the name of Sonia Sotomayor forward for this office is really the equivalent of an affirmative action plan for the highest court of our land, and it is just not what we need for our judicial system. As a Hispanic female judge, she apparently has the credentials suited to Obama's highly politicized view of the Constitution, but Sotomayor is far from the most qualified person for the office. More importantly, she is not unambiguously pro-life.

What is becoming clear in the vetting process of this woman is that Sotomayor has served a decades-long career avoiding the whole issue of baby-killing, and now her advocates want us to believe that she will be a friend to the pro-life movement. Actually, she will never help to overturn our nation's terrible abortion law because she can't. She does not manifest either the personal character or the track record that tells us she will fight for babies. Even if she should be sympathetic to the cause of life - which is not at all clear to anyone who examines her record - she has never displayed that unique brand of moral courage that it will take to re-establish the right to life of the most innocent of God’s children. Now is not the time for compromise in the judiciary. We’ve had that for 36 years. It is the time for pure leadership for life. Sotomayor doesn’t have it, doesn't give it and apparently just doesn’t get it.

Apart from her reverse-discriminatory view that a "Latina female" would be more adequate to judge certain cases than a "white male," relevant to the question of credentials is that 60% of the cases in which she wrote the majority opinion for the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals have been reversed by the Supreme Court. This is an abysmal track record for someone being considered for the top judicial forum in the land. Furthermore, her positions are highly emotional, not hard-headed and rational, and have led to a trivializing of the law, not a strengthening of it.

A pretty safe pro-life rule of thumb for all future Supreme Court nominees should be that we require them to have a proven pro-life track record both in their decisions and in practice. Their commitment has to be visible and tangible. Otherwise we have to oppose them in no uncertain terms. Unborn children were the only real casualties of the so-called "safe" Republican nominees like Sandra Day O'Connor and David Souter, and of course there has been little or no movement in the direction of protecting life despite their being put forward by pro-life presidents. There is all the more reason to fear the candidates put forward by a radical extremist pro-abortion President.

We can never forget that we are literally at war, and in wartime, there can be no gray areas of action and no hesitation. We may not be able to stop the nomination of another pro-abort for the Supreme Court, but we cannot pretend that we will settle for anything less than a justice who is committed to overturning Roe and to putting legal walls around the babies once again. For that matter, a good pro-life justice will fight for legal protection for all of us against an increasingly-aggressive culture of death that wants to usurp more and more legal power to endorse its dirty agenda.

We must urge our Senators to stand up and say a forceful NO to this political appointee to the nation's high court - we need a Supreme Court Justice who will fight to rectify three and a half decades of injustice toward innocent children in this country, not a politically-convenient appointee who wants to make history. We elected a history-making President and look what it has led to. You'd think we would have learned.

Gov. Sanford Shows Republicans The Way Out Of The Wilderness

It is impossible to avoid all the RINO's running around saying that we need to become more like the Democrats. Well, Gov. Mark Sanford has stood on Conservative, Libertarian principles his whole political career and he refused to back down, no matter how damaging everyone claimed it was to his future ambitions. Now we have more proof that when you stand by your principles the voters will follow. This should be a huge wake up call for our Party; fight for our principles and we will retake Washington.

What Kind Of Future Will Our Children Have

As a parent of five beautiful children I have become increasingly concerned over the direction of our Republic. My wife has wrote often on the hate crimes legislation, but when you really think about it there is no part of the Constitution that is not under constant assault from, unfortunately, both parties and an activist judiciary. This is why my wife and I, and so many others, are dedicated to getting true Conservatives and Federalists into office. A friend of this blog, American Elephant, has written one of the most powerful posts I have ever read. If you are a parent or a patriot it is well worth your time.

My wife had an ultrasound this morning and we were able to see our baby for the second time. In our eyes, this baby is a miracle and the greatest blessing we could have ever imagined. Our baby will be our successor in this great country, and we hope to offer it more opportunity than we had. But in other people’s eyes, the baby is something else. Somehow a little less valuable to our nation because both parents are white. [read more]

Obama Doesn't Know The Truth, Even When He Sees It

Anyone who looks at the current North Korean situation knows we need missile defense. But, our naive and self-destructive president has made it clear, since the campaign, that he will not support this vitle program. This informative video really says it all.

Founding Fathers Quote

The dignity and stability of government in all its branches, the morals of the people, and every blessing of society depend so much upon an upright and skillful administration of justice, that the judicial power ought to be distinct from both the legislative and executive, and independent upon both, that so it may be a check upon both, and both should be checks upon that.

Catholic League News Release

Fr. Cutie Bolts
Father Alberto Cutié, the Catholic priest who was having an affair with a Florida woman, has decided to jump ship and join the Episcopal Church; he plans on joining their clergy, as well.

The real story here is the subtext: the only reason this man is a media sensation is because those who have been agitating for women priests in the Catholic Church know that they must first get the Church to lift the mandatory celibacy rule if they are to have a realistic shot at winning. So that is why they are using Cutié as a useful prop to bash celibacy.

What they don’t get is that celibacy is a discipline that could be lifted, but the Church’s teaching on a male priesthood is a firmly grounded doctrinal matter that Pope John Paul II ruled was a closed issue.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on President Obama’s choice of Miguel H. Diaz, a Catholic theologian, to be his ambassador to the Vatican:

In choosing professor Miguel H. Diaz to be the U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican, President Obama has selected a man whose writings do not address such hot-button issues as abortion, embryonic stem cell research, doctor-assisted suicide and gay marriage. In that regard, it appears this is a safe choice.

It is disconcerting, nonetheless, to learn that Diaz supported Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius for the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services. Sebelius is so extreme on abortion that she has been publicly criticized by the last three archbishops in Kansas City, Kansas. Moreover, when the current archbishop, Joseph F. Naumann, asked her to name a single instance in 30 years of public service where she supported restrictions on abortion, she could not name one. Thus, his decision to request that she not present herself for Communion.

It is a lame argument to say that it is morally acceptable to promote abortion-reducing public policies while jettisoning all legal remedies. If we applied this same logic to racial discrimination, no one would regard someone who worked to reduce the incidence of discrimination while abandoning all legal strategies as a bona-fide opponent of racism. Both approaches would be demanded.

It is a sad commentary on the Democratic party that out of the entire country they can’t field a candidate to represent the U.S. to the Vatican who is unequivocally opposed to abortion-on-demand.

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments today on the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court:

When John Roberts was nominated to be on the high court, Senator Dick Durbin told CNN that he considered it fair game to probe Roberts about his Catholicism. Durbin released a glowing statement yesterday on Sotomayor that never mentioned her religion. When Roberts was questioned by Senator Arlen Specter and Senator Dianne Feinstein, they both asked him whether he agreed with President John F. Kennedy about separation of church and state. Neither even mentioned Sotomayor’s religion in their respective statements yesterday.

When Roberts was nominated, Dahlia Lithwick, legal analyst for Slate, said, “I wouldn’t underestimate the influence of his religion”; when Samuel Alito was nominated, Lithwick said that “People are very, very much talking about the fact that Alito would be the fifth Catholic on the Supreme Court if confirmed.” Yesterday, Lithwick posted a lengthy piece on Sotomayor that never mentioned her religion. When Roberts was nominated, NPR’s Nina Totenberg said that his wife was “a high officer of a pro-life organization. He’s got adopted children. I mean, he’s a conservative Catholic.” Yesterday, she simply mentioned that Sotomayor attended Catholic schools without ever raising it as an issue. When Roberts was nominated, journalist Adele Stan noted his religion and said, “Rome must be smiling.” Yesterday, in her positive assessment of Sotomayor, she never mentioned her religion.

What’s going on? Are liberal Catholics Catholic? Obviously not, at least according to liberals. After all, if Sotomayor were known as a practicing Catholic, those who fretted over Roberts and Alito would have called 911 by now. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, however, put their worst fears to rest yesterday when he said of the Puerto Rican jurist, “I believe she was raised Catholic.” If this is true, then the telling verb “raised” would explain why liberals like Sotomayor—she’s one of those Catholics they can trust. Let’s hope they’re wrong.

Thomas Sowell On The Mayhem Of A Empathetic Justice

Thomas Sowell has hit the nail on the head with this article regarding Judge Sonia Sotomayor's empathy on the bench. A judge must be and takes an oath to be impartial for a reason. If we were just going to end up perverting the Constitution so it only applies to certain groups of people and legalizing discrimination against other groups of people then we take away the very reasons why was slavery abolished. It was abolished because it was wrong to discriminate, persecute, or judge groups of people because of their gender or race yet here is a woman being nominated to the Supreme Court who fully admits that is what she will do.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on the decision by the California Supreme Court upholding the resolution banning same-sex marriage in California:
The shame of it all is that after the citizens of California said no to gay marriage last fall—the people always say no (the record is 30-0 in state ballot initiatives)—homosexual radicals sought to do an end-run around the democratic process and have unelected judges overrule the express will of the people. But the opponents of democracy, and common sense, lost today and that is how it should be. No one supports two men getting married save for white people who have spent too much time in the classroom.

Pope: Europe should value its Christian heritage

Judge Sonia Sotomayor Nominated By Obama

Judge Sonia Sotomayor has been nominated by Obama and must now be confirmed by the Senate to take her seat on the Supreme Court. I, being a Hispanic woman, have many issues with Obama's pick. Judge Sonia Sotomayor is incapable of performing her duties as a Supreme Court judge because of her inability to move beyond her own misinformed, racist, and sexist opinions.

There are more than enough quotes floating around the Internet to prove what I am stating and why she should not be confirmed. DR is correct in saying that the Republicans should filibuster her confirmation. Republics should not have the blood and sin of her lifetime appointment on their hands.

Her nomination is such an abomination and disgrace the Republicans in the Senate should refuse to have anything to do with it. Proverbs warns about turning from God's wisdom to the actions and policies of strange and foreign lands. We must not allow the strange and immoral policies of the liberal left to infiltrate our courts.

Judges like this should never be allowed to serve and should be removed from their seats. Judges are to be impartial to everything but the law. Their job is not to make policy for certain groups of people and this is what Judge Sotomayor prides herself on. All laws are to be applied equally to every American, not more harshly or liberally becaues of your gender or race.

Judge Sotomayor doesn't try to hide the things that make her ineligible for this nomination because she truly believes this is her duty as a judge. She willingly admits that her being a Hispanic and a woman will effect the way she judges. She believes that most whites and males are incapable of making a good conclusion as a judge. She claims that it is almost impossible to be impartial and that ignoring a persons color and gender is an injustice. She admits that she will judge ,according to her personal beliefs and experiences, differently for men, women, by race. She has said that she sees her seat as exercising her power of her perspective from her personal experiences. She has also made comments that insinuate that if, as a judge, she cannot find common ground with a person's intellectual or professional background it will affect her judgement of cases.

She strongly leans on her beliefs that people of color and women make better judges because their experiences have shaped how they will judge we know what her effect on the Supreme Court will be; more negative than any before her. If you wanted an activist judge who would throw the Constitution out the window and make policy from the bench then you have found her.

We know that she thinks the Second Amendment does not extend to individuals. She could not be more wrong on this and it puts into question what her agendas will be on the bench. Her appointment fully exposes Obama's agenda for Latinos. He made sure his pick was extremely biased and would be a bully about it. The Dems are trying to use her Latino heritage to justify and promote their agendas.

Since the majority of Hispanics and Latinos are conservative by tradition they should be careful when making assumptions about how we will vote. They may not get the bounce from us they are looking for in 2012. Her heritiage is separate from her stands and those of us who share her heritage are not going to vote for Obama just because he used her to pander for our vote. We know how liberals kick minorites to the curb once their usefulness is gone and we resent being treated like subjects of the liberal agenda.

If Judge Sotomayor is confirmed she should be impeached at the earliest possibility; and we know from Obama that anything can be done, even if there is a policy against it.

Obama Chooses Extremist For Supreme Court

President Obama had a chance to support the Constitution, as he claims he does, however instead he picked the most extreme activist with his selection of Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

The Republican Party needs to filibuster Sotomayor. It does not matter if the Democrats have enough votes to confirm her; we need to stand up for the Constitution and let the Democrats defend their support for her when they face the voters.

Since we live in a Republic and Republics are based on law this radical justice is a danger to the very well being of the Constitution. We have to spread the message as far as possible of how irresponsible and extreme this pick is by Obama.

SR is going to post on why this judge is an extremist and, in my opinion, sexist. Since I am a lowly white male and my wife is Hispanic we know gender and identity politics don't go both ways.

Sen. Mitch McConnell issued a release that sounds encouraging and American United for Life also have a release out.

Is The NBA Accountable?

I have been an NBA fan all my life, but really love the game now that my children are watching it with me. Which brings me to my concern; for the last several years the officiating has been atrocious. I felt it improved during the regular season this year, but now that we are in the Playoffs the officiating could not be more suspicious.

I am not accusing anyone of anything, but I am really curious if the NBA is holding any of these officials accountable behind the scenes.
I am a Phoenix Suns fan so I don't have a team in the Playoffs; however, in all honesty, I like and root for Dwight Howard.
I think it is fair to question if the hyping of a potential James and Bryant match up is appropriate and is it having an unintentional effect on the officiating? What do you think?

Foreign Policy News To Keep An Eye On

Surprise, surprise! North Korea detonated another nuclear device. The Obama administration is weak so this development worries me more than it normally would. Obama is already going after our missile defense program. This latest episode from North Korea shows how short sighted and ignorant that is.

I think anyone who says a military option exists when dealing with North Korea's nuclear program is simply naive. North Korea has enough artillery and surface to surface missiles to devastate South Korea. That has to be taken into account. Undermining the regime, while showing a strong and united front with our regional allies is the key. With the Obama administration's inexperience with foreign policy we should all keep a close eye on this.

I previously wrote about China surpassing the US as the leading trade partner with Brazil. Now it is being reported that China and Brazil will replace the dollar. This obviously concerns every American and is a consequence of Washington's reckless spending and weak dollar policies.

SR's Memorial Day Wishes

I wanted to send out my own thank you to our military, past and present. To all those who serve, and have served, our blessed Republic I wanted to show my humble respect.

The bravery and sacrifice of those in the military and that of their families is honorable and above and beyond what anyone could ever expect from them; especially, in a day and time where libs despise and persecute their voluntary sacrifice and you are given no reason from a disrespectful government to want to serve.

There are those of us who see what is asked of you and what is given in return from ungrateful and undeserving people who don't have a clue what it means to be American. The rest of us see what you do and what it costs and we are thankful. Because of you, and those before you, we are free. Because of you we have the greatest Republic on this planet. Without your sacrifice liberals would not even be free to protest you or your mission, but they will never understand that. You don't give up on the whole of us, even though they are vocal against you.

Instead you look beyond the misguided mobs of liberal protesters and see the people and the Republic you are standing for and somehow you found it worthy of your sacrifice. Nothing I ever say or do could be enough to repay the debt I owe to all those who have fought for me and my family.

DR, I know the sacrifices you made in your service were great. I can never claim to understand the deep pride and loyalty you have for this Republic after the way it has treated you and those who served with you. But, I do see when you choose to look beyond all of it to see what is truly at stake. I can never share or imagine what you experienced or the bond it gives you with fellow service men and women. What I can do is be there, even in hard times, to let you know it was all worth it and it is appreciated.

Thank you with all my heart for giving what we have not and what many would not.

Happy Memorial Day

I want to thank all my fellow veteran brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice for this great Republic. We will always remember you. I also thank all the veterans and military personnel currently serving who served and serve knowing that they may be required to make the ultimate sacrifice. All the family members who have or are making untold sacrifices, We salute you. May God's love and mercy always shine on this great Republic and those who selflessly serve her.

Senators urge Obama to see Israel’s point of view

Senators urge Obama to see Israel’s point of view

Seventy-six out of 100 US senators this week signed a letter urging President Barack Obama to carefully weigh the risks to Israel’s security before pushing his new Middle East peace initiative.

The letter was sent to the president one day after his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which Obama pressed his guest to grasp hold of the “historic opportunity” to make peace by surrendering his people’s ancient lands.

In their letter, the senators appeared to side with Netanyahu’s view that Israel cannot even consider a Palestinian state until the Palestinians honor their commitments to halt all terrorism against the Jewish state.

“We must also continue to insist on the absolute Palestinian commitment to ending terrorist violence,” they wrote. “The more capable and responsible Palestinian forces become, the more they demonstrate the ability to govern and to maintain security, the easier it will be for them to reach an accord with Israel.”

According to reports in the US media, Obama is determined to push forward with the creation of a Palestinian Arab state at the earliest possible date, and will try to mitigate the risk to Israel by calling for that Palestinian state to be demilitarized.

There was no mention of what the consequences would be if and when the Palestinians rejected or violated that condition.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hosted Netanyahu in Washington on Tuesday, and reiterated what Obama had told the Israeli leader a day earlier: the new US government is determined to succeed where its predecessors failed in playing midwife to “Palestine.”

Clinton demanded that Netanyahu halt all construction of Jewish home in Judea and Samaria, since, as she put it, “the Palestinians deserve a viable state,” and new Israeli construction on those biblical lands would make that impossible.

She also made the obligatory call for Palestinian terror groups to stop attacking Israelis.
