Cantor: Job Loss Numbers Reinforce Need For Focus On Small Businesses, Working Families, Washington Accountability

“This is President Obama’s economy now and this is not the oversight and accountability that working families deserve or were promised.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the U.S. economy lost 345,000 jobs in May, bringing the unemployment rate to a whopping 9.4%, a twenty-five year high:

“Working families continue to live in fear of job loss, yet Washington continues to spend without focus or accountability. House Republicans have laid out a serious and substantive plan that puts jobs first and created twice as many jobs as the ‘stimulus’ spending bill that Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid rammed through Congress. Democrats took a go it alone approach that even the Vice President acknowledges is open to scams and wastes money.

“This is President Obama’s economy now and this is not the oversight and accountability that working families deserve or were promised.

“As job losses continue to mount, families’ worries about losing their healthcare, paying their mortgage, and sending their children to college continues to intensify. We must refocus on employment, yet Speaker Pelosi and the unchecked Democrat majorities continue to increase Washington’s hand in the free market, taking away natural incentives to create jobs. Republicans will continue to offer innovative solutions that put job creation first for families, small businesses, and struggling Americans – even if the Democrat majorities choose to disregard them.”

OKAY TO FUND CHURCHES OVERSEAS;
NO MONEY FOR D.C. VOUCHERS

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on what happened yesterday at the first official meeting of President Obama’s Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships (the information is taken from a report by the “On Faith” blog site of
Newsweek/Washington Post
):

The only item of real interest to the Catholic League is the agency’s commitment to extend foreign aid to such civil institutions as churches, mosques and temples. This is a commendable proposition, but it also smacks of hypocrisy: U.S. taxpayers are expected to foot the bill for religious institutions overseas but there is no money for poor kids down the block from the White House who would like to have a school voucher to attend a Catholic school.

The argument that we have a Constitution to deal with at home is a canard: vouchers are not unconstitutional. Moreover, if helping civil institutions, including religious ones, is a proper goal for the U.S. to pursue abroad, why is it not a proper one to pursue at home? To be sure, constitutional issues must be respected, but the Constitution does not put a straightjacket on the right of government to offer assistance of all kinds to religious institutions. Indeed, the very establishment of this agency is testimony to this point.

In short, if the Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships initiative is to succeed, then it must be judged by what it does at home, as well as abroad.

Second Senator Says Sonia Sotomayor Backs Roe v. Wade Abortion Case

by Steven Ertelt

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- As Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor makes the rounds in meetings with members of the Senate, a second senator says she backs the Roe v. Wade abortion case. Roe, the 1973 Supreme Court decision, allowed virtually unlimited abortions for any reason throughout pregnancy. [

Conservatives Call For A Filibuster Of Sotomayor’s Nomination

Now here is the Conservative spirit I have been looking for! Over 140 conservatives, including Grover Norquist, Richard Viguerie, and Gary Bauer are calling on Senate Republicans to filibuster the Sotomayor nomination.

I am tire of hearing spineless Republicans say we need to back off of her or we will lose elections. The voters already tried it their way and we got a Democrat controlled Congress and Obama. Now, it is time for the Party to listen to its base; take our word for it, take a hard line and we will finally start winning again.

PUBLIC SCHOOL ABUSE VICTIMS IN NY STATE:
RELIEF IS ON THE WAY

Paul Vitello has a news story in today’s New York Times reporting on the decision by New York State Assemblywoman Margaret Markey to amend her bill on the sexual abuse of children. Her previous bill only covered private institutions like the Catholic Church, leaving in place protections afforded public institutions. This led many Catholics to oppose her bill and support the one sponsored by Assemblyman Vito Lopez which treats public and private institutions equally. There is still one major difference between the two bills: Markey’s allows for a one year suspension of the statute of limitations, thus permitting anyone to file a claim regardless of when the abuse occurred.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue outlined a new campaign:

The statute of limitations is an integral provision of justice, and that is why the Lopez bill is still preferable to Markey’s new one. But if Markey’s bill prevails, the Catholic League will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in a massive public education campaign to alert those who have been sexually abused by a public school employee that they now have one year to sue the schools, even if the abuse took place when JFK was president. We will use every media outlet available.

Our campaign will be limited to those victimized in public schools. Why? Because up until now, in New York and many other states, lawyers and professional victims’ abuse advocates have waged a relentless campaign to exclusively stick it to Catholic institutions, all the while doing positively nothing to help those victimized by public school teachers. To even the scales of justice, we will now copy-cat their tactics, only the target audience this time will be those molested in the public schools.

Markey is nothing if not dishonest. All along she insisted that her initial bill applied equally to private and public institutions. But if this were true, then there would have been no need to amend it.

Israel Speaks Out Against Obama's Apparent Muslim Abetting

"We outlasted Pharaoh, and we will outlast Obama". The response was swift and strong; Israel will not be pushed around by an apocryphal president. Israel is a sovereign nation that is protected by God himself; neither Obama, nor any other nation, can change that.

Obama has acted like a Muslim abettor in making it clear to the world that he expects Israel to bow to the Muslims; even thought it would mean genocide for their people because radical Muslims don't want peace they want the destruction of Israel.

The Obama administration has chosen the wrong side on this issue. God has set the Jewish people aside from the rest and whether anyone likes it or not they are here to stay until God's Armageddon is unleashed upon the evil of this world.

Obama likes to refer to the Holy Quran, maybe he should take a book or two from the Holy Bible.

Obama Reaches Out To Muslims While Americans Are Suffering

Leaving behind a suffering and economically struggling America Obama spends more of our tax dollars to jet of to Muslim countries and dishonor our traditions and heritage. Obama, while pandering to foreigners, pointed out Rep. Keith Ellison had the audacity to take his oath by "using the same Holy Quran that one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, kept in his personal library".

This man who occupies the White House has the nerve to speak of his Muslim heritage when we were all called racists for speaking about it during the campaign. He should be held to his own standard or start speaking the truth to begin with. I prefer the latter, however if he clearly spoke the truth from the very beginning he would never have won (even with ACORN).

I think this so-called president needs to get himself back to America where he belongs and start fixing what he has destroyed and ease the suffering of Americans before he sets foot on foreign soil again. When he does he should take a lesson in honor when refering to this great country that allowed him the priviledge of being president.

McConnell: All of Us Want Health Care Reform
from the Office of Senator Mitch McConnell

Thursday, June 4, 2009

‘In America in 2009, doing nothing is simply not an option. We must act and act decisively. The question is not whether to reform health care. The question is how best to reform health care’

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Thursday regarding the importance of getting it right on health care reform:

“One thing that unites Democrats and Republicans this morning is that all of us want health care reform in this country. Americans want reform that addresses the high cost of care and gives everyone access to quality care. In America in 2009, doing nothing is simply not an option. We must act and act decisively. Closing Guantanamo: Views of the Senate are Abundantly Clear
from the Office of Senator Mitch McConnell

Thursday, June 4, 2009

‘It has been reported that Congressional Democrats are privately considering the entreaties of the White House to repudiate these very clear views and to allow terrorist detainees to come into the United States’

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Thursday regarding Guantanamo Bay:

“Mr. President, just a few weeks ago, the Senate answered the question that has concerned Americans: whether or not the terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba should be transferred stateside to facilities that could be in or near their communities.

“By an overwhelming vote of 90-6, the Senate said ‘no way; not without a plan.’ It passed the bipartisan Inouye-Inhofe amendment that bars the administration from transferring these terrorist detainees into the United States.

“This is not a change in the Senate’s position. Just a few years ago, the Senate, by a vote of 94-3, said the same thing: we should not move some of the world’s most dangerous terrorists out of Guantanamo’s modern, safe, and secure facility and into our country.

“So the views of the Senate are abundantly clear. Nevertheless, it has been reported that Congressional Democrats are privately considering the entreaties of the White House to repudiate these very clear views and to allow terrorist detainees to come into the United States.

“What has changed?

“The views of the American people have not changed. They firmly oppose it. Nor have the dangers and difficulties of moving the detainees into the U.S.

“The FBI Director has testified about the dangers of holding these terrorists in the United States.

“Most of us are familiar with the problems that Alexandria, Virginia experienced with just the trial of just one terrorist: security problems, transportation problems, logistical problems, commercial problems. Indeed, if you want to try these detainees by military commission, something I support, there is no better place than the $12 million, modern courtroom at Guantanamo Bay.

“The administration’s supporters point to Supermax as a place to house these terrorists. But our colleagues from Colorado don’t support moving them there, nor is there even any place in that facility to put them.

“The Denver Post reports there is just one bed open at Supermax. That means these terrorists would have to come somewhere else, perhaps to a facility in your state.

“So, why in the world would Senate Democrats be entertaining the idea of giving the administration millions of dollars for doing this, especially without having seen a plan? [

The End Of America As We Know Her

Some, no doubt, think my title is over blown. However, we are seeing the decline of America and of the presidency. Obama is a dangerous combination of inexperienced naivety and radical racism. Too strong? I think not.

He has only been in office a few months and he assaulted the Constitution with the expansion of the federal government, assaulted our ally and God's people Israel, and set race relations back 20 years by nominating an outright racist to the Supreme Court. While he is a complete failure so far, our system of government is set up to deal with the occasional failure.

We can take back the House and Senate next year, stripping him of most of his power, and then we can finally replace him two years after that. In the meantime our Party must drop the pretence that he should be supported. They get weak kneed if you even criticize him and try to change the subject to Nancy Pelosi or some other Democrat. Well, Obama is not only the president he is the leader of the Democrat Party; the buck ends with him.

He is the one bragging about his Muslim heritage after declaring anyone who even brought up his middle name a racist during the campaign. The bottom line is I hope he fails, I hope the American people see what a socialist failure he already is, and I hope we never, ever have another president like him.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued the following statement after the House Democrats voted to do absolutely nothing to address growing concerns about their Members’ ties to the PMA Group, which is currently being investigated by the FBI:

"Today, House Democrats voted to do absolutely nothing to address the major concerns that continue to surround their Members’ connections to the FBI-raided PMA Group. The American people have to be wondering why the House continues to suppress an investigation as the FBI expands its own into lawmakers connected to PMA. Today's vote was nothing short of a cover-up, and the Ethics Committee should fully investigate this matter despite the attempts by Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats to stifle it."

“THE VIEW’S”
CATHOLIC OBSESSION

They did it again today. The gals at the ABC-TV show, “The View,” went off in a rambling, barely coherent discussion of Catholicism.

Always led by Barbara Walters (does she secretly pine to be Catholic?), Joy Behar told us what Confession used to mean to her back in the days when she was “brainwashed.” Unfortunately, her unwashed brain now shows all the signs of corrosion.

Then there is Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the ex-Catholic whose preoccupation with all matters Catholic suggests she is still not at home with her Evangelical status. She told us today that she used to say things in Confession just to “entertain” the priests. Just think how far she’s come—now she entertains unemployed women with her remarkable insights.

Thomas Sowell - Equal Rights V. Special Rights

This is the next big issue coming to the Supreme Court with Obama's nomination; moving from the long standing (and Constitutional) equal rights stand to the left's special rights agenda. This leftist agenda of giving preferential justice to special groups of people and denying equal justice to conservative whites is ridiculous and racist (as Rush Limbaugh also states).

Thomas Sowell argues that actions speak louder than the left's words and their constant racism and denial of it is going to have lasting implications on this Republic if Judge Sotomayor is confirmed. Judge Sotomayor is an admitted judicial activist and she needs to be stopped before the damage is too great.

We need to stand up against Obama and his push to force us all into socialism with sanctioned racism. What do you want your children and grandchildren to have to grow up in? Do you want them born disadvantaged by these leftist dogs who want to put your prodigy into financial and racial bondage?

Founding Fathers Quote

Liberty is a word which, according as it is used, comprehends the most good and the most evil of any in the world. Justly understood it is sacred next to those which we appropriate in divine adoration; but in the mouths of some it means anything, which enervate a necessary government; excite a jealousy of the rulers who are our own choice, and keep society in confusion for want of a power sufficiently concentered to promote good.

LAWMAKER MARKEY RIPS BISHOP DIMARZIO

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addresses remarks made yesterday by New York Assemblywoman Margaret Markey:

Catholics in New York State are very concerned about a bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Margaret Markey that would discriminate against the Catholic Church by opening the door to endless claims of sexual abuse while at the same time giving the public schools a pass. Obviously, Catholic leaders oppose her bill and much prefer the legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Vito Lopez which would establish an equal playing field for private and public institutions alike. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio would vigorously oppose Markey’s bill and support Lopez’s effort. What is surprising is the disturbing language used by Markey in retaliation.

Markey has accused Bishop DiMarzio of being “on the borderline of jeopardizing his not-for-profit status.” She also went so far as to warn him: “If I were the bishop, I would walk very cautiously.”

I have news for Markey: If I were her, I would not try to intimidate a bishop. Not only does she show absolutely no respect for the First Amendment provisions guaranteeing freedom of speech and freedom of religion, her attempt to silence any religious leader shows utter contempt for elementary standards of decency.

I might add that her silence in the wake of countless efforts by leaders of other religions working against legislation they find inimical to the best interests of their community smacks of prejudice and duplicity. If she wants to sponsor legislation that would muzzle the free speech of all religious leaders, then she should do so. Failing that, she should get off her high horse and stop with her ugly threats against Bishop DiMarzio.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) supporters from every state are converging on Wisconsin by phone, fax, and e-mail today in an effort to represent the 80% of Americans from every race who oppose in-state tuition for illegal aliens since some Democrats inserted the measure into the Wisconsin state budget bill!

"Some of the Democrats in Wisconsin have heavily degraded the integrity of the lawmaking process by inserting in-state tuition for illegals into the budget bill," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "Those lawmakers are clearly trying to force this legislation through and have shown they are willing to get down and dirty to deprive Wisconsin citizens of due legislative process."

Similar underhanded legislative tricks were attempted in Colorado and Arkansas this year in an effort to pass in-state tuition for illegals. ALIPAC has helped to defeat this kind of Dream Act legislation in Arkansas, Colorado, New Jersey, Oregon, and Maryland so far in 2009. Multiple polls show that over 80% of Americans oppose Dream Act legislation such as in-state tuition for illegals.

"The illegal alien supporters have lost almost every single state battle in 2008 and 2009 because even Democratic controlled legislatures have sided with the vast majority of their constituents who oppose any taxpayer welfare benefits for illegals," said William Gheen. "These rejections of Dream Act legislation in the states increases the chances we will defeat Dream Act Amnesty in Washington again in 2009."

With millions of Americans painfully realizing that their own dreams of going to college, or their children's dreams of going to college are evaporating in this nightmarish economy, a strong sense of outrage is felt by Americans who are aware of what some lawmakers and the governor, Jim Doyle, are attempting in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle is likely to suffer major decreases in public support following the pattern of Governor's Elliot Spitzer and Jon Corzine after they tried to push for licenses and in-state tuition for illegals.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement after President Obama suggested that the Mideast peace process and our interests have been harmed by the failure of the United States to be “honest” with Israel, then that Iran might have a ‘right’ to nuclear energy:

“As Palestinian terror shows no sign of abating, President Obama’s insistence that it is in America’s best interest to pressure Israel sends the wrong message to the region. Where is the outrage at the Palestinians’ continued refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state? Where is the concern for their failure to root out the terrorists in their midst?

“Palestinian terror and the refusal to recognize Israel stand directly in the way of peace, yet this is only one part of the process. It is misguided to assume that if we deal with the Israel-Palestinian question, somehow all the problems in the Middle East – including in Iran – will be solved.

“President Obama’s suggestion that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy is dangerous and I strongly disagree. Iran forfeited any right to nuclear energy when it made the decision to illicitly enrich uranium to levels that can be used for nuclear weapons. Access to nuclear energy is an irreversible process, and the United States cannot trust the aspirations of the world’s foremost state-sponsor of terrorism.” [

Gov. Jindal: Encouraging Economic Development

Posted by: Bobby Jindal on Jun 2, 2009

This past week four important bills that will extend current tax credits were passed by the House Ways and Means Committee. House Bill 457 will extend the digital media production tax credit program, HB 458 will extend the sound recording production and infrastructure tax credit program, HB 614 will extend the targeted motion picture infrastructure tax credit, and HB 142 will extend the motion picture investor tax credit. The film industry brought hundreds of millions of dollars into our state last year, and it is critical that we provide incentives to encourage this continued investment.

Additionally, HB 720, which establishes a Tax Amnesty Program for 2009, was passed unanimously by the House of Representatives and should be taken up in the Senate this week. When a similar program was implemented in 2001, the state collected nearly $150 million in back taxes – which will help ease some of the pressures on critical services needed by our people. It is important that we find innovative ways to increase state revenues, and this program will provide help in that area. [

FREE SPEECH IN CONNECTICUT:
CATHOLICS NEED NOT APPLY

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addresses the state of free speech for Catholics in Connecticut:

Three months ago, two lawmakers from Connecticut sought a state takeover of the governing structure of the Catholic Church. This gambit, which we properly labeled a “fascist stunt,” lost. The reason it lost is because of the courageous reaction of Catholics, led by their bishops, and organizations like the Catholic League. Among the steps taken to thwart this unconstitutional abridgement of religious liberty was a rally at the state Capitol.

In retaliation, some state officials are now seeking to penalize the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport, led by Bishop William E. Lori. They have accused the Bridgeport Diocese of breaking the state’s lobbying laws. On May 29, Bishop Lori filed suit seeking an injunction to stop the punitive measures from being implemented.

What is at stake is practically every liberty enshrined in the First Amendment: freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, religious liberty and the provision guaranteeing separation of church and state. First the tyrants sought to take control of the Catholic Church, and now their lackeys are trying to muzzle the free speech of Catholics. Had this been reversed—had the bishops sought to take command of the legislative functions of the state of Connecticut and then proceeded to get a gag order placed on lawmakers—everyone who is now silent would be apoplectic.

Just last month, there was a rally in Hartford demanding universal health care. According to
Courant.com, approximately 140 “clergy and religious folks marched to the state Capitol to ask to talk. They wore clerical collars, suit coats and hijabs, and chanted and carried signs that said, ‘Muslims for Health Care,’ and ‘Health Care for All.’” This rally occasioned no threats by state officials of any kind.

SCAPEGOATING O’REILLY

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a story in today’s
New York Times
that details how some of Bill O’Reilly’s critics are trying to blame him for the death of Dr. George Tiller:

In all of Bill O’Reilly’s denunciations of Dr. George Tiller, he never once called for anyone to even post his address on the web, never mind call for his death. Yet O’Reilly is being blamed for Tiller’s murder. If O’Reilly’s critics had any sense of decency, or fairness, they would have long condemned what
Hustler
king Larry Flynt once said about the Fox News Network personality.

On August 5, 2003, Flynt launched a National Prayer Day, calling for O’Reilly’s death. Flynt asked God “to afflict Bill O’Reilly with a brain aneurysm that will lead to his slow and painful death. O, Lord, may his blood vessels bulge out of his head and explode without mercy.”

To my knowledge, none of O’Reilly’s foes have ever damned Flynt for this despicable comment. They therefore have zero moral capital to lash out at O’Reilly for his criticisms of a man who proudly took the lives of over 60,000 children.

All Hail The Mighty Federal Government

Well, it is official; the government controls GM. I never thought I would see the day come when our great Republic would voluntarily surrender to socialism. Not a shot has been fired, none of this damage was done by an invading army, all this damage was done because the American voter refused to self educate or to get involved. We allowed corrupt politicians to stay in office and the Republican Party to become almost as bad as the socialist Democratic Party.

The question is, what now? Do we surrender ourselves to the socialist abyss or do we fight harder than we have ever fought. I, long ago, made my decision; I will fight and keep fighting. My children deserve no less. We need to stand together. One of the best ways to do something right this very second is to get off the sidelines and get involved.

Pat Toomey, Scott Walker, and many other Conservatives have campaign sites up right now. You can help restore this Republic by supporting good Conservatives like these two. They both have volunteer centers that track your impact. If you want to find out how to sign up you can sign up on your own by clicking here for Pat Toomey and here for Scott Walker.

The Holy Spirit Conquers Fear

Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)

RSC Update: Monday, June 1, 2009

From the Chairman
Last week, President Obama sent a signal to America that he values ‘empathy’ over the rule of law by nominating Sonia Sotomayor to a seat on the Supreme Court. Judge Sotomayor’s record of legislating from the bench should raise red flags about her ability to reach fair and impartial decisions. The American people demand a Justice who will decide cases based on a commitment to constitutional principles rather than personal political goals. We should accept nothing less from Judge Sotomayor as the Senate considers her nomination to the high court.

President Obama might label her philosophy as ‘moderate,’ but Judge Sotomayor has made a habit of embracing extreme views during her time on the lower courts. Americans should not be left to wonder if their next Supreme Court Justice will exercise basic standards of objectivity when considering cases that can drastically affect their everyday lives. So far, Judge Sotomayor has not demonstrated the impartiality that is required by a seat on the high court. It is absolutely imperative that Judge Sotomayor addresses these issues during her confirmation process. We in the House must send a clear message to our colleagues in the Senate that we will stand for nothing less. If someone you know would like to join our fight to make sure that the rule of law is maintained, please have them join us at http://rsc.price.house.gov/.

Thanks for your support!

Sincerely,
Congressman Tom Price
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

RSC Media Activity

· Rep. Steve King (IA-05): Amend Constitution to Void Lawless Ruling; Des Moines Register, May 27.

Outlook
Here is a preview of upcoming Democrat proposals to advance their big-government, anti-taxpayer agenda.

· Congress will consider a bill that will provide federal employees with four weeks of paid parental leave, a program that would grant special privileges to federal employees at a cost of over $1 billion to taxpayers. Democrats are pushing the bill after it passed the House but ultimately failed in 2008.

House Floor Activity
The House was out of session last week and will return to business on June 2.

Money Monitor
Each week, the RSC Money Monitor tracks how bills passed by the House affect authorizations, mandatory spending, and federal government revenue. With the House out of session last week, Democrats were unable to pass any new spending or tax increases.

Rosaries For Life

Rosaries for Life is a must visit website for pro-lifers and Catholics. Please visit the site and get a pledge form. Their mission is this:

Our War
To save the unborn and other lives at risk by restoring a Culture of Life in the United States, and from there, the world.....

Our Weaponry
The goal is 68,000,000 Rosaries and
Divine Mercy Chaplets said for the triumph of the Culture of Life in our country. Why 68,000,000? 68 million is roughly the number of Catholics in our country, and it's also very close to the number of people who voted for President Obama in the recent election. Therefore, there are at least 68 million reasons to do penance. If Catholics would pray and act as they should, the Culture of Death would be put to rout in our country. This battle is primarily spiritual warfare, and it's time we finally get organized as an army. Why the rosary? The power of the rosary is overwhelming. Regarding the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Our Lord told Saint Faustina, "Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will."

Our Marching Orders
Our country is at a crossroads! Though there remains a core of people who still stand for our country's original values, many have been led astray by individualism, secularism, and relativism. One doesn't have to be a prophet to see that the future looks grim in many ways, because we have not remained a nation "under God". We have instead put ourselves "over God", and if this is not corrected, our country will meet the same fate as other great civilizations of the past. NOW is the time to pray and fast so that the people of our country might again put God in His rightful place. The last word goes to Pope John Paul II, "A great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer." Catholic League News Release

THE POLITICS OF TILLER’S DEATH

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on the death of Dr. George Tiller:

The Catholic League unequivocally condemns the killing of serial killer, Dr. George Tiller. As I said on the CBS Evening News, “We have to get the message out that life means we have to respect all life, including somebody as bad as Dr. Tiller was.” Unfortunately, his death has already occasioned a highly political response from his allies.

From what we know of the suspect, Scott Roeder, the ex-con fits the profile of a deranged man. Yet there are those who are already trying to pin the blame on others. Andrew Sullivan and the Daily Kos have fingered Bill O’Reilly and are running a video of O’Reilly’s past denunciations of Tiller. Worse than this irresponsible accusation is the hypocrisy of the Daily Kos: above the O’Reilly video is an advertisement for an upcoming interview on C-Span2 with Bill Ayers, the urban terrorist who is a hero in some left-wing circles.

Others are busy collectivizing the guilt. Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization for Women, refers to “those who are behind this murder,” suggesting that this is part of a pro-life cabal. Vicki Saporta, president of the National Abortion Federation, also blames “individuals” for Tiller’s death. Similarly, Dr. Warren Hern, a late-term abortionist from Colorado, said Tiller’s death was the result of “a fascist movement in this country.”

Perhaps the ultimate politicization is the decision by U.S. Attorney Eric Holder ordering federal marshals to protect “other appropriate people and facilities around the nation.” Thus does Holder feed the frenzy of the pro-abortion industry that what happened to Tiller is the work of the pro-life community. We will closely monitor these developments.

Madison, WI (LifeNews.com) -- Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle and the majority Democrats in the state legislature are coming under fire for a budget that doesn't reflect pro-life values. It features funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business and a revocation of funding for poor pregnant women who may be considering an abortion. [read more]

The Truth Hurts

The libs are screaming at the top of their lungs how dare anyone call Judge Sotomayor, a racist, for her obviously racist comments. How do we know her comments are racist? Because every time a Republican, especially a Conservative, even utters something remotely similar they are declared a racist; if they are in leadership they are forced to step down (Trent Lott). They made up the rules now they need to quit whining and live by them.

I understand Tom Tancredo may be running for governor of Colorado. I personally hope he does because when he believes in something he does not back down.

Watch the liberals squirm in this video when Tancredo speaks the truth.

Founding Fathers Quote

And it is no less true, that personal security and private property rest entirely upon the wisdom, the stability, and the integrity of the courts of justice.

‘Obama committed to ejecting Jews from Judea-Samaria,’ says Abbas

‘Obama committed to ejecting Jews from Judea-Samaria,’ says Abbas

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday told reporters in Cairo that he is convinced that US President Barack Obama is firmly committed to finally ejecting the Jews from Judea and Samaria.

Abbas spoke to the press after briefing Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on his visit to the White House late last week, during which Obama apparently agreed with his guest that existing Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria must not even be allowed to experience “natural growth.”

“When the American administration talks about Israel's duty to stop the settlements - including natural growth - it is a very important step,” noted Abbas.

Following their meeting last Thursday, Obama said that he also told Abbas to make a bit more of an effort to halt what he described as isolated and sporadic anti-Jewish incitement in Palestinian schools, mosques and media. Documentation by Israeli and international watchdog groups shows that the incitement is far from isolated or sporadic.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials cited by Ha’aretz decried the Obama Administration’s stiff demands that no more houses be built for Jews beyond the pre-1967 borders.

They noted that under former President George W. Bush, Israel reached understandings that the natural growth of existing towns would not subject to Israel’s commitments to halt settlement activity (commitments many Israelis see as null and void anyway since the Palestinians have failed to honor their reciprocal obligations).

But one official said those understandings are now “worth nothing,” and that the US is taking an unfair position by completely siding with Palestinian demands that go far beyond the original peace agreements.

Other officials attributed Obama’s hard line positions against Israel to his efforts to reconcile with the Arab and Muslim worlds, which will be the focus of a much anticipated speech he will give in Cairo this Thursday.

Wal-Mart's Generosity Benefits Local Food Pantries Across America

Wal-Mart has long been attacked by liberal minded people and organizations as a blight on local communities. Without going into all the area's that Wal-Mart is affronted in, I want to point out all the good Wal-Mart does for it's local communities.

There are many organizations and families that benefit each and every day from Wal-Mart's generosity. One of the most recent programs Wal-Mart is participating in is Feeding America. Wal-Mart now makes Corporate wide weekly donations of meat, deli, bakery, produce, frozen, and dry/canned groceries to local food pantries. Across America Wal-Mart has teamed up with numerous organizations to feed families in need.

In the current and coming wake of Obama's spending ambitions many families are suffering and many children are going hungry in an economy left on the edge of collapse by a narcissistic president.

This is only one of many charitable programs that Wal-Mart participates in. Their mission to help people live better is not just some line that shows up on a teleprompter, it is a truly heartfelt belief of giving back locally that even its employees strive to make happen each day. Wal-Mart literally gives millions back locally each and every year.

When I hear short sighted comments attacking Wal-Mart for having a negative impact on their community I wonder how much are these naysayers giving back? How big of an impact have they made on their community? Maybe they should close their mouths and open their eyes so they too can help give more to their community.
