Catholic Prayers

Dear Jesus,
Divine Physician and Healer of the Sick,
we turn to You in this time of illness.
O dearest Comforter of the Troubled,
alleviate our worry and sorrow with Your gentle love,
and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden.
Dear God,
we place our worries in Your hands.
We ask that You restore Your servant to health again.
Above all,
grant us the grace to acknowledge Your holy will
and know that whatsoever You do,
You do for the love of us.

Giving Terrorists Rights

Obama once again proves America is not his main concern with his latest stab in the side of this wounded country; like scheming mob bosses behind closed doors Obama's Justice Department has ordered that enemy combatants in Afghanistan be read Miranda Rights.

They really must want us all to just lie down our lives and give everything we have and are to the world to shred this Republic apart like a pack of wolves. I believe this administration and their liberal supporters would sleep well at night if all evidence of Conservatism and God were wiped from the face of the Earth; they certainly make no bones about going after everything good that gets in their way.

S. 1099: Patients’ Choice Act

“The Patients’ Choice Act of 2009,” transforms health care in America by strengthening the relationship between the patient and the doctor; using choice and competition rather than rationing and restrictions to contain costs; and ensuring universal, affordable health care for all Americans. [Read the Bill here]

Please contact your representative and demand that they abandon nationalized health care and pass The Patients' Choice Act. Nationalized health care is a slippery slope that will be devastating and even deadly to many of our loved ones.

The left makes it sound like the cure all and that they only have the economy's and your best interest in mind. I am telling you that some of the same people who pushing nationalized health care as the answer also believe that children and the elderly (especially those who are handicapped and have dementia) are a drain on society and should have licensed personnel "put them down". I suppose they believe that it is humane for pets, why not for your loved ones!

Our government cannot even fully fund Medicaid and Medicare now; how do you think they are going to pay for millions more being added to a nationalized health care plan? By soaking you with higher taxes. You will be paying more in new taxes to fund their egos and agendas then you would for the private plans you have now. Not to mention, once they have control over who gets treatment and when you may literally be dying for the dream of private health care again.

Thomas Sowell

Thomas Sowell recommended the book "The Character of Nations" by Angelo Codevilla. He speaks of nations being known by their character and that character is not always good. Throwing common sense and wisdom out the window for trivial things like political correctness and socialism never brings prosperity or freedom to a nation.

Taking Food From The Mouths Of Starving Babes - For Bio-Degradable Cars

This is getting pathetic. Apparently, abortion isn't efficient enough of a population control for liberals now they want to stick us all into tuna cans they call hybrid vehicles that under the right conditions can be blown off highways by passing semis, can be totaled in a 40 mile per hour head on collision, and can be blown off Mackinac Bridge with one gust of wind (that is if you can fit in the car, I suppose this is their way of forcing people out of obesity!); that is one creative way to kill off a large portion of your population.

On top of that, they want to make it out of CORN! You got it, bioplastic made out of corn, seaweed, and soybeans. Taking greatly needed crop resources that are needed around to world to feed starving children and hoarding them to make cars that currently they cannot keep from biodegrading. Unintended consequences will cause crop prices to skyrocket so that the rest of us cannot afford it, if we are even able to find them on the store shelves.

Ford and Toyota are both trying to perfect these materials in their hybrid vehicles. Didn't they learn their lessons that plastic and cars don't mix; in crashes plastic does not absorb the impact of a crash, it breaks apart and severs bodies. So between starving the poor and knocking off their customers in pint sized cars their contribution to world population control will probably be heralded someday with a Pulitzer.

Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)

RSC Update: Monday, June 8, 2009

From the Chairman
Once again, the latest round of unemployment numbers confirms what conservatives have known all along: the so-called “stimulus package” pushed through Congress by President Obama and his Democrat friends has been a complete failure. In May alone, the United States bled 345,000 jobs. For perspective, that is the equivalent of the entire population of St. Louis, MO being put out of work. Indeed, that alone is a jarring number.

Unfortunately, this is only part of the bleeding that we have seen since President Obama took office. Since his inauguration, America has shed over 2 million jobs. Despite promises from Washington Democrats that their reckless spending spree would turn the tide of a struggling economy, all we have to show for a mountain of new debt is ongoing economic calamity and an uphill climb toward prosperity for future generations.

Predictably, the White House and its allies continue to spin their abjectly false claims about ‘saving’ phantom jobs. Even if that were the case, their policies have still left an astonishing number of Americans without jobs. The time has come for President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and their big-government friends to finally admit that wasteful spending is no way to pull the country out of a recession. Our economy can only be stoked by giving American families and businesses the means to invest and create real, long-term growth by cutting taxes and providing appropriate incentives. It’s time to finally empower the American people by ending Washington’s heavy-handed intervention and reckless spending before any more money is wasted in the name of ‘stimulus.’

If anyone you know would like to join our fight for fiscal sanity and policies that can actually turn our economy around, please have them join us at

Thanks for your support!

Chairman, Republican Study Committee

RSC Media Activity
Every week, Republican Study Committee members work hard to ensure that the conservative viewpoint is well-represented in all corners of the media.

· Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01): Two Roads to America’s Energy Future; RedState, June 1.

· Rep. John Kline (MN-02): Remember the Heroes of D-Day; Woodbury Bulletin, June 3.

· Rep. Michele Bachmann (MN-06): Spain’s Energy Model – What Not to Do; RedState, June 4.

· Rep. Darrell Issa (CA-49): Climate Bill a Pain in the Gas; Politico, June 5.

· Minority Whip Eric Cantor (VA-07): Obama’s Budget Priorities Do Not Reflect American Interests; The Foundry, June 5.

Here is a preview of upcoming Democrat proposals to advance their big-government, anti-taxpayer agenda.

· Tomorrow, the House will consider the misguided ‘cash-for-clunker’ plan, which would hand out $4,500 of taxpayer money to people who wish to trade in their cars for new ones that get better gas mileage.

· President Obama announced his intention to ramp up “stimulus” spending in order to ‘save or create’ an additional 600,000 this summer in addition to the 150,000 jobs the President claims that he has already ‘saved or created. This figure is simply part of the White House’s ongoing spin as they attempt to mitigate the complete failure of a signature policy proposal that has not helped to turn the tide of economic decline.

· The House will likely consider a foreign affairs authorization bill that will include a huge funding increase for parts of the federal bureaucracy at a time when many Americans are losing their jobs. The bill will also fund various aspects of the liberal agenda and could be used to promote and advocate abortion services abroad.

House Floor Activity
The following key legislation came through the House of Representatives last week.

· Democrats incited a major political battle within their own ranks by attempting to pin a global bailout provision to a troop funding bill. As the White House, Democrat leadership, and various wings of the party feud over these provisions, Republicans remain adamant that we must have a clean bill to provide our troops overseas the resources they need to complete their missions.

· Democrats passed a parental leave bill that provides federal employees with four weeks of taxpayer-funded parental leave, thereby granting special privileges to federal employees at a cost of over $1 billion. The move is largely seen as a primer that will allow Democrats to extend the government’s reach into the private sector to mandate parental leave policies in private companies. Without a doubt, the Democrat majority is bad for business.

Money Monitor
Each week, the
RSC Money Monitor tracks how bills passed by the House affect authorizations, mandatory spending, and federal government revenue. With the House out of session last week, Democrats were unable to pass any new spending or tax increases.

Gov. Jindal: Establishing A Safer Louisiana

Posted by: Bobby Jindal on Jun 9, 2009

Some very important pieces of legislation that are critical to protecting Louisiana families are moving through the legislative process, including two bills that are part of our efforts to crack down on drunk driving and DUI offenders. House Bill 445 will, as reported by the
Baton Rouge Advocate, “suspend a license for two years the first time a driver refuses to take a Breathalyzer test [and] a subsequent refusal would strip a driver’s license for four years.” Our laws as they are now encourage offenders to refuse a breathalyzer test, which currently carries a significantly lighter sentence than a failed test, and this legislation will up those standards. This legislation was passed by the Senate Judiciary B Committee last week, and is scheduled to come before the full Senate this week. [read more]

Founding Fathers Quote

Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capacity, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence.

Rep. Cantor Release

Cantor Statement on PAYGO and Administration, Democrat Spending
June 9, 2009
Contact:Brad Dayspring

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement prior to the President’s meeting with Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) and other Democrats on PAYGO and federal spending:

“It seems a tad disingenuous for the President and Speaker Pelosi to talk about PAYGO rules after ramming trillions in spending through Congress proposing policies that create more debt in the first six months of this year than in the previous 220 years combined. It’s as if the Administration and these Democrat leaders are living in an alternate universe. The quickest way to save money is to stop recklessly spending it. The Administration's sudden focus on PAYGO seems more driven by polling and PR strategy than a serious commitment to fiscal discipline.

“Republicans have thoughtful, focused initiatives. The Administration needs to get serious, and we are – again – willing to meet with the President to work on substantive, focused efforts to revive this economy – because Americans deserve better than what they are getting.”

Republican Fund Raiser Reveals Obama's Approval Ratings Are Hyped

Yes, I said "hyped". Any poll at any time can be manipulated to get the results you want. Sure Obama probably does have a 61% approval rating, among Democrats and Liberals. His true approval among all Americans is pretty dismal as revealed by a Republican fund raiser on June 8th.

A Democrat spokesman responded that the speakers at the fund raiser "would rather bank on failure than work with Democrats." You have to give the other side something to want to work with and what the Dems are dishing no good minded, self respecting Conservative who loves their children and their Republic would want to work with. What self preserving person works with an enemy who only wishes their destruction?

Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and Jon Voight all called Obama out for his failed policies and already failed presidency. Apparently, the criticism was strong and sharp. Of course their disapproval is being attacked by the Dems and the media as being risky; they want us to all shut up, go away, and let them have their way. Well, I got news for them; we are not going to cower in a corner and let the destroy our Republic and everything it stands for. We are America; the land of the FREE and the BRAVE.

Stimulus Money "Jammed down South Carolina's Throat"

Catholic League News Release

New York City has authorized five new markers in Brooklyn’s Holocaust Memorial Park to represent five groups of non-Jews who died in the Holocaust. The new markers are being proposed to honor homosexuals, Gypsies, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the disabled and political prisoners. The person behind this campaign is Rick Landman, co-chair of the International Association of Lesbian and Gay Children of Holocaust Survivors. Dov Hikind, a New York State Assemblyman, is strongly opposed to this effort.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue entered the fray today:

Any time a Holocaust memorial does not single out Jews, it is an historical farce: they were the only ethnic group that was exclusively targeted by the Nazis. To that extent, the Holocaust was a Jewish event of monumental significance. But any time Holocaust victims who were not Jewish are simply dismissed altogether, we have another historical farce: Polish Catholics, for example, suffered badly.

Six million Polish citizens were killed in the Holocaust—three million Jews and three million Catholics. Poland was the only country where the Germans gave official death orders for any Pole who helped a Jew. And more Poles were killed for helping Jews than anyone else in the world. The current Broadway play, “Irena’s Vow,” is a dramatic production that accurately tells how Polish Catholics risked their lives to save Jews.

The SS did not take note of the religious affiliation of its prisoners, with the exception of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. But this does not justify dismissing Catholic victims. After all, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum pays tribute to Polish Catholics, and so should all memorials.

To put all Holocaust victims on an equal plane with Jews is wrong, but it is equally wrong to pretend that Catholics, especially those of Polish descent, weren’t among Hitler’s many victims.

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented today on the latest amendment to New York State Assemblywoman Margaret Markey’s bill dealing with the sexual abuse of minors:

Just after Markey changed her bill to include public institutions, she chopped her bill up even further by now saying that anyone who wants to file a suit during the one year suspension of the statute of limitations can do so providing he is not over the age of 53. Thus, her bill looks more like chopped meat than a serious piece of legislation. What it tells us is that her initial effort was ill considered. It should be obvious to everyone that Assemblyman Vito Lopez’s bill is a viable alternative, one that does not suffer from being on the chopping block.

In the event Markey’s bill passes, I repeat what I said on June 4: I will conduct a massive public education campaign alerting the public that they can now sue the public schools if they were abused by a public school employee, even if the incident took place when JFK was president (providing they are not over the age of 53).

Thomas Sowell - A Generation Of Do Nothings

Thomas Sowell makes a great and obvious point about how nothing is being done about Iran and its nuclear ambitions. I like the scenario of Britain's criminal system doing nothing to criminals to make his point about how nothing being done with Iran.

It is the same concept as raising a child. A parent can tell the little darling "no" a million times, but if they do not actually intend to stop the behavior the child sees right through all the talk. People can see past words and interpret actions. As Thomas Sowell points out, when you have a nation of do nothing politicians and a do nothing president there is no bite behind their bark; no nation in the world will take them seriously.

Take a pack of wolves, for example, after prey. They encounter two prey, one is full of spit and vinegar and makes it known that he will fight to the death and the other cowers in the bushes hoping for danger will pass. Which prey do you think the wolves will go after? The one that gives the least resistance.

Our government needs to stop letting other nations know that we will do nothing when challenged. These nations are testing our resolve and our government is creating conditions that are going to lead to no good for anyone; especially us.

Sarah Palin On Obama's Spending And Socialist Agenda

"we’re borrowing more to spend more.. it defies any sensible economic policy that any of us ever learned through college." Sarah Palin said what we are all saying. Yes, it defies sensibility unless it is intentional. Whether out of total arrogance and greed or out of some more sinister agenda, the audacity Obama has to spend our money in this manner is outrageous and must be stopped and Sarah Palin is right about that.

Let's hope she is also right that more voters will wake up and smell what's being dished out by the left. They had blinders on during the whole campaign; let's face it he said enough that any self educated, common sensed conservative knew what Obama was going to do. He just did it faster and more boldly than most believed he would dare.

Socialism is where we are headed under Obama and national health care? I hope the American citizens have the stomach to watch people dying in the waiting rooms while waiting on care that either comes too late or not at all.

When people from countries with nationalized health care are coming to America to receive life saving treatments they cannot get at all or in time from their own system you would hope that our Republic could learn from their mistakes.

Secret New Weapon To Replace F-22 Program

Many of us were adamantly against the Obama Administration's cuts to the F-22 program, but I never realized how bad things really were. When I took my kids to an airshow yesterday I came face to face with just how desperate the Air Force has become.

The Tech Sergeant was so thrilled when I told him he was going to be featured in a blog post. You just got to love inner service rivalries.
