Governor Jindal Vetoes Anti-Gun Parade Bill in Louisiana!

Monday, July 13, 2009

Please Thank Governor Jindal!

On Friday, July 10, House Bill 523 was vetoed by Governor Bobby Jindal (R). HB 523, introduced by State Representative Gregory Ernst (R-94), posed an unacceptable risk to those who lawfully carry a concealed firearm.

NRA’s main concern was that the bill could be interpreted to create an outright prohibition on the carrying of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a permitted parade or demonstration, except as specifically authorized in the bill. While certain persons would have been exempt from this prohibition, holders of a valid statewide concealed carry permit would not have been among them. Someone who was otherwise lawfully carrying a firearm pursuant to a statewide permit could have been exposed to criminal liability merely for wandering within 1,000 feet of a parade, whether or not the person caused any harm, broke any other law, or even knew the parade was occurring.

The actions of the sponsor himself indicated that his intent was to ban outright the carrying of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a permitted parade or demonstration. The bill had at one point included an explicit exemption for statewide permit holders, which resulted in Representative Ernst’s threat to pull the legislation unless this exception was removed. Representative Ernst also refused an NRA request to amend the bill to clarify that a person would only be available for the bill’s penalties if the person knew he or she was within 1,000 of a parade or demonstration at the time of the violation.

Given the above-mentioned factors and the very harsh penalties imposed by the bill, NRA believed HB 523 posed an imminent and serious risk for those who lawfully carry firearms in Louisiana. A conviction under the amended statute, even for an inadvertent violation, would have carried felony penalties and the collateral consequence of a lifetime loss of the right to possess a firearm. These penalties are far too grave to risk the very real chance that a court could have interpreted the statute to create an outright prohibition on the possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a permitted parade or demonstration, even for those with a valid Louisiana concealed carry permit.

Please contact Governor Jindal TODAY and thank him for vetoing HB 523. To contact Governor Jindal please click here.

URGENT - U.S. Senate To Consider Right-To-Carry Reciprocity Amendment Early Next Week

Friday, July 17, 2009

Contact Your U.S. Senators TODAY And
Urge Them To Support Your Right To Self-Defense

The U.S. Senate is now considering the National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1390). As a part of the consideration of that legislation, Senators John Thune (R-SD) and David Vitter (R-LA) will offer an amendment on Monday to provide for interstate recognition of Right-to-Carry permits. There is a very high likelihood of a Senate floor vote on this important and timely pro-gun reform on Monday or Tuesday.

While the right to possess firearms for self-defense within the home has long been respected under the law, for most of our nation's history, state and local governments have prohibited ordinary citizens from possessing firearms for self-defense in many settings outside the home. Recently, however, most state legislatures have taken steps to reduce those restrictions. In the last twenty years, the number of states that respect the right to carry has risen from 10 to 40 -- an all-time high.

Now is the time for Congress to acknowledge these changes in state laws and recognize that the right to self-defense does not end at state lines. Under the Thune-Vitter amendment, an individual who has met the requirements for a carry permit, or who is otherwise allowed by his home state's state law to carry a firearm, would be authorized to carry a firearm for protection in any other state that issues such permits, subject to the laws of the state in which the firearm is carried.

Contrary to "states' rights" claims from opponents who usually favor sweeping federal gun control, the amendment is a legitimate exercise of Congress's constitutional power to protect the fundamental rights of citizens (including the right to keep and bear arms and the right of personal mobility). States would still have the authority to regulate the time, place and manner in which handguns are carried.

Expanding Right-to-Carry will enhance public safety, and certainly poses no threat to the public. Criminals are deterred from attempting crimes when they know or suspect that their prospective victims are armed. A study for the Department of Justice found that 40 percent of felons had not committed crimes because they feared the prospective victims were armed.

And, carry permit holders have demonstrated that they are more law-abiding than the rest of the public. For example, Florida has issued more carry permits than any other state (1.5 million), but revoked only 166 (0.01 percent) as a result of firearms-related crimes by permit holders.

The Thune-Vitter amendment recognizes that competent, responsible, law-abiding Americans still deserve our trust and confidence when they cross state lines. Passing interstate Right-to-Carry legislation will help further reduce crime by deterring criminals, and—most important of all—will protect the right of honest Americans to protect themselves when deterrence fails.

The Thune-Vitter Amendment represents a giant step forward in the protection of the basic right to self-defense. Its passage will recognize that the rights of law-abiding Right-to-Carry permit holders should be respected, even when they travel outside their home state.

Please be sure to contact both of your U.S. Senators today, and urge them to cosponsor and support the Thune-Vitter amendment. E-mail them today and call them on Monday.

The American Trinity - Liberty v. Equality

I found this on Wintery Knight Blog and it is an absolute must see. Obama should have to watch this over and over everytime he thinks about spreading the wealth.

Equality Is Not What Liberals Want You To Believe

America's uniqueness in equality is that we understand that we are all CREATED equal by God, but we do not live equally.

What, you say! Being equal we are all given the opportunity to succeed, but it does not mean we all will. Being equal means we will all be judged by the same standard by our justice system and by life itself. Equality does not and never did mean that you lift up anyone over another.

You don't judge unequally one to make up for the lack of success of another. You do not take from one to give to another because they have less. We have equal chances to succeed or fail.

Yes, some have better luck and opportunity then others, but those others still have the opportunity to succeed in what they do have. They may not choose to make the best of that opportunity or they may have a few bumps in the road and need a helping hand.

That helping hand comes from their community, voluntarily and individually, not from a government dictating a socialist equality and enslaving those who are successful to serve those who are not.

Sarah Palin: Time and Space

Liberalism Uses Discrimination For Power

I am a proud Hispanic woman and this has been bothering me for a long time. Discrimination; it does not exist anymore except in the hearts of the very liberals using it to gain political power. They create it and fuel it; they practice it and lie about it. They use smoke and mirror tricks to convince soccer moms and corporate dads who don’t have the time or motivation to self educate that we are all racists who need to suffer and pay retribution for our iniquities.

Meanwhile, behind their closed doors they plot and scheme over how minorities can be used and discarded once their usefulness is gone. When they feel there are no benefits to be gained by courting minorities their true feelings are revealed. Time after time their racist comments are made and time after time they are excused by the minorities they have offended. You would think that as minorities they would grow weary of being used and then being thrown to the curb, yet they seem to have blinders on.

Over the years I have noticed this; the only racism “issue” we have in America is the crusty, old Democrat machine hell-bent on getting and keeping power at all costs and the extremist “hate” mongers from the minority groups themselves who have found it profitable and powerful to do so. So they spew their venom at Conservatives because they are too afraid of going after the true racists of the Democrat Party and losing the socialist benefits and power they have gained from their support of that party; like Judas’ 30 pieces of silver. They have sold themselves and their race out for socialist gain, and token, puppet positions.

I am tired myself of seeing minorities (especially Hispanics since I am of Hispanic ethnicity) run to the liberal left and betraying their traditional heritage and misdirecting their rage. They wallow in discrimination, they spew discrimination, and they are blinded by their own discrimination out of disdain for their situation. They don’t see that they placed themselves there when they sold their soul to liberalism.

The real fight and hatred is between the liberals and the minorities because they put themselves in the position of needing each other and can’t stand it. They choke in disgust at the bed they have made with each other, yet they must keep the illusion of a united front or appear weak and lose power. To get some relief from pent up hate and anger toward each other they gang up on their political enemy and attack with such veracity there usually isn’t anything recognizable left. The only discrimination I can see in my Republic is that of those pointing the fingers of accusation; they must have forgotten that three of those fingers are pointing right back at themselves.

I call all minority groups to rise above this sink hole of hate and free yourselves from the bondages of hate and discrimination given to you by liberalism that you have placed upon your selves. Embrace your traditions and conservative heritage. Flourish in the peace and freedom of the America that we can all build together. Leave liberalism, hate, and discrimination in the stinking hole it boils in and walk on the free ground of conservatism.

If you are still reading this article then you either hold no true discrimination in your heart or you are yearning to let it go. You are already half way there. Good luck and God bless you on your journey.

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the fate of African American women, and their children, in the nation’s capital:

Following the lead of President Barack Obama, the House of Representatives passed a bill yesterday that would allow the District of Columbia to fund abortions. Also following Obama’s wishes, the same bill affirmed the earlier congressional decision to end school vouchers there.

Something doesn’t add up. Last night in New York, Obama spoke at the 100th anniversary celebration of the NAACP, saying, “No one has written your destiny for you.” That’s certainly true of the crowd “clad in tuxedos and ball gowns,” as the New York Times described them. But what about the African American children in the nation’s capital about to be born? Thanks to what happened yesterday, the road is being paved to insure that publicly financed abortionists will control the destiny of a large segment of the black poor.

Here’s what it comes down to: indigent African American pregnant woman in D.C. will be told that if they decide to abort their baby, the government will pay for it. But if they persist in bringing their baby to term, the government will not help them to avoid the same lousy public schools that Barack and Michelle shunned for Sasha and Malia.

Either way, this sounds like a death warrant. That this cruel concept of choice—public funds for aborting the children of the poor but not a dime for school choice—is coming from the “champions” of the poor is all the more despicable. By contrast, they make ordinary rednecks look positively harmless.

Score One for the Kids

Philip Pullman, author of child-friendly atheist books like The Golden Compass, has been told by British authorities that he must register with the newly developed antipedophile database if he still wants to visit kids in the schools; the ruling applies to those who regularly work with children. In a snit, Pullman said the proclamation was “quite dispiriting and sinister,” labeling it an “absurd rule.”

Now perhaps the Brits have gone overboard, but we are nonetheless delighted that kids will be free from Pullman’s dogmatic proselytizing. He’s been working overtime for years promoting videos and books aimed at brainwashing children about just how awful Christianity is and how glorious atheism is. Now, at least, many more kids will be spared his moonshine. All thanks to his liberal buddies in the British government.

The Catholic League is delighted that its 2007 boycott of the film version of The Golden Compass worked so well that it persuaded the producers not to move forward with the second movie based on Pullman’s trilogy, His Dark Materials. As of now, there are no plans to make The Subtle Knife, and we hope it stays that way. Atheism is screwy enough, but when it is sold backdoor to little kids, it is downright pernicious.

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue says relations between President Barack Obama and Catholics are at a critical juncture:

Exactly two weeks ago today, President Obama met with some Catholic journalists, telling them, “I don’t know any circumstances in which abortion is a happy circumstance or decision.” This begs the question: Why are his surrogates in the Democratic party pushing to make the public pay for a procedure that always makes women (and children) so unhappy? To be exact, over the past week, amendments to the health care reform bill sponsored by Sen. Orrin Hatch and Sen. Mike Enzi that would prohibit the public funding of abortion have gone down in defeat, all to the applause of the Obama administration. Something has got to give. If abortion is bad, then it makes no sense to subsidize it. After all, there is a reason why we don’t subsidize air or water pollution.

On that same day, the president pledged to support “robust” conscience-clause protections for health care workers. This was in keeping with the pledge he made at Notre Dame in May. “Let’s honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion,” he told the graduates, “and draft a sensible conscience clause….” This begs the question: Why are his surrogates in the Democratic party pushing to kill conscience rights? To be exact, yesterday the Democrats killed an amendment by Sen. Tom Coburn to provide conscience-rights protections for health care workers.

This is break point for Obama and Catholics. The president either means what he says when he talks to Catholics, or he doesn’t.

Rep. Cantor Release

Cantor: The Administration And Democrats Need To Be Focused On Job Creation
July 16, 2009
Contact:Brad Dayspring

“We should be about job creation. We should be about making sure American workers get back to work.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) delivered the following remarks at a press conference with Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) and RSC members of the freshman class to discuss the economy and the need to focus on job creation:

“Good morning. We’re here today to talk about all the things that are swirling around here and the very aggressive agenda that this administration is trying to push through this Congress and frankly onto the American people. From the very beginning of this Congress, we have been focused on one thing and that is job creation. In fact, people across this country are continuing to wonder ‘where are the jobs?’

“And as we see the ambitious agenda with one program after another coming down the pike, the additional question asked is ‘who is paying for all of what is trying to be pushed?’ I just walked out of the Ways & Means health care mark up which is just beginning, and it is extraordinary the breath of the bill that is being pushed through and the costs associated with it. Ultimately, really, the cost is going to be borne by the people of this country, the middle class, the wealthy and those who can least afford it. All of us are going to be paying an astronomical cost at a time that we just cannot afford this ambitious grab. I want to quote to you a letter that was sent to the Speaker and to the Majority Leader by the Blue Dogs and to sum up their concern, at the bottom it says, ‘we cannot support a bill that further exacerbates the challenges faced by small businesses.’ In fact, the Blue Dogs got it right.

“We should be about job creation. We should be about making sure American workers get back to work. And that’s our concern with what’s going on in the health care bill, that’s our concern with what went on in the cap-and-trade bill, that’s our concern with the lack of success as far as the stimulus is concerned.”

Sotomayor Not As Governed By Law As She Should Be

Former U.S. Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork has a problem with Judge Sotomayor's lack of being governed by law. He also believes she should not be considered for the Supreme Court seat. The Democratic Senate wrongly rejected his nomination as our Republican and Conservative leaders should do to Sotomayor. She is entirely unqualified for a position too important to overlook or give in. When we give into the evils of liberalism it is always the innocent who pay the price.

Smuggling Abortions Into Healthcare

For those of you who fight against mothers murdering their own babies and calling it abortion here is a potential setback. Your liberal leaders are trying for smuggle abortions into healthcare coverage. They are also putting people in leadership roles who believed in forced abortions and sterilizations.

If you think healthcare is a nightmare now, wait until your government tells you when and if you may have a child and forcefully ends any unapproved pregnancy. Of for you gentlemen, how would you like to be forcefully sterilized? The idea of forced abortions has been considered by key Obama people.

Researchers have tried to develop ways to sterilize entire groups of people and don't think they won't use it when they get it. What will happen if half the hospitals and clinics close because your leaders tell Catholic doctors they must perform abortions. They will close before defying God.

Do you really think that a nationalized healthcare system run by racist, liberals is going to allow the procreation and treatment of minorities or conservatives? Who do you think will be making the decisions. Just consider what Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who said says she once supported Roe for population control reasons targeting minorities. Don't think it can happen? It already is.

Unborn Babies Have Memories

We didn't need researchers to tell us what common sense tells us. A baby has REM sleep and you cannot dream unless you have a memory to form those dreams. But it is nice to see articles like this one coming out showing without a question that abortion is the murder of a child.

Fr. Tom Euteneuer: Priests for the Kingdom

Priests for the Kingdom

As the Jubilee Year for Priests begins, allow me to offer a brief reflection on the beauty and dignity of the priesthood. I write as one who has lived in this state of life for more than twenty years and who has regular contact with many good priests from around the world. Pope Benedict's call to dedicate a year to deepening our appreciation for the priesthood is an invitation to reflect deeply on the mystery of priestly grace being lived in our midst. We have all been blessed, literally or figuratively, by the ministry of priests, and we all must thank God for this great gift to our Church and our world.

Some realism about the priestly vocation has to both enlighten our view of priests and dampen our expectations of them. Catholic priests are not worldly leaders, they are not perfect and they are not God. Rather, they are God's chosen servants given the duty of blessing, teaching and leading souls to heaven, and for that reason they have a fierce reckoning to go through on the Day of Judgment. On the final day, the High Priest Himself will weigh His black-robed servants in the scales against the souls that were sent them for care, and the scales will not lie.

The failure of a priest is sad and hurtful, but that just proves that the priest is immersed in the woundedness of the human condition and given to the people for their welfare. He always bears the scars of battle and sometimes fails. He always has to apologize more than the average man for his failures because they have a greater impact on people, and if his public profile is higher than most, his humiliation is often much greater because his faults and failings are usually seen in living color by thousands. That is the tremendous risk of being a priest, but he knows about it ahead of time and he takes it for the sake of the souls he is called to serve. The priest has to throw away everything to serve God's people, including his comfort, his ambitions and his ego.

Even though priests don't ask it enough, every priest needs the prayers of his people to support him against the wiles of the world, the flesh and the devil. More than anything, however, he needs prayers to strengthen and confirm him in the grace that he has been given to be that shining light of faith to the world. The grace from these prayers always returns to the one who prays because everyone who prays for priests is served better by them. Prayers for the priesthood in general add more soldiers to the ranks of the clergy and keep some of the failing ones from leaving. Prayers for individual priests and their souls are enormously helpful to a priest's integrity and his generosity of service. We must never underestimate the power of prayer for God's servants. They are always fruitful for the Kingdom of God.

People can sometimes be very generous to priests in a material way, and I can say from a personal standpoint that such generosity is always appreciated by us. However, priests really don't need material gifts or homes offered to us as substitutes for the sacrifices we make for the Kingdom. The Church takes care of us in these aspects of life. What we need is spiritual support for our spiritual work and every once in a while a healthy reminder from the laity that our vocation is not of this world. The prayers of the faithful have gone a long way to sustaining priests in their commitment to the salvation of souls just as the prayers of priests bring so many of the laity the strength they need to overcome the difficulties of life and be fortified for our ongoing spiritual combat.

Just as every soldier deserves good leadership in war because his life will depend on it, so God's people deserve good priests who are spiritual warriors fighting for their souls, because if these are lost, everything else is, indeed, lost.

President, Human Life International

Back To The Basics

I love this article calling for Congress to learn to read; the Constitution that is. There is a huge movement happening and Congress' and this administration's theft of power is the thorn in liberty's side that is the focus.

We must get back to the basics of the Constitution as a Republic and the voters must wake up and do their duty well at the ballot box next election. It is already happening. States are already reclaiming their sovereignty and powers and calling for Congress to justify their stolen powers; I'll give you a hint, they won't be able to use the Constitution because it is not there.

Good Morning

Good morning everyone. It is a beautiful, windy Wisconsin day on the lakeshore again. It has been a much cooler summer than normal (so much for global warming - and climate change has been around since creation). In fact, it has been cold and gloomy quite a bit this year. That is what tomorrow is supposed to be, so I am enjoying today while I can.

Do you ever have a moment from time to time, in your busy adult lives, where everything seems to stand still and you are taken back to your childhood? Maybe it is a hot, still summer day when the sun is beating down on a meadow with the buzzing of a Katydid. It might be walking in the shade of a woods with the Robins chirping. Sometimes the smell of Lilacs on the breeze or home baked bread remind me of Grandma. Listening to the babble of a creek remind me of the old farm growing up.

Every once in a while a sound, a smell, the warmth of the sun on your face, or the bite of Jack Frost on your nose reminds you of simpler times. Memories of growing up when we did not have the worries and schedules we do now; when we were carefree and oblivious to the world around us. Moments of happiness that stay with us our whole lives.

I love those moments; like time standing still. You can almost see God in his creation. They don't come often enough and they don't linger very long. The next time it happens for you savour and cherish it; you don't know if you will be privileged to experience it again.

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the proposed health care legislation favored by the Obama administration:

On July 17, 2007, President Obama told his pro-abortion fans at Planned Parenthood that “the first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA).” Two years later, FOCA has yet to be reintroduced. But there are no signs that Planned Parenthood is disappointed, and that’s because Obama is delivering FOCA by stealth.

The principal reason why FOCA was not reintroduced was due to opposition from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). Under the tutelage of Francis Cardinal George, head of the USCCB, and Justin Cardinal Rigali, head of the pro-life committee of the USCCB, the bishops made it clear that they would fight tooth and nail any attempt to get FOCA signed into law. Obama got the word, as did the bill’s sponsors, Rep. Jerry Nadler and Sen. Barbara Boxer. But that didn’t derail the pro-abortion forces from trying some back door maneuvering.

The USCCB believes, as does the Obama administration, that health care is a human right. The health care bills that have been served up by supporters of Obama, however, have provisions that mirror the most draconian elements found in FOCA. To be specific, in the past week, an amendment by Sen. Mike Enzi explicitly denying abortion coverage was defeated. When Sen. Orrin Hatch asked Sen. Barbara Mikulski if she would clarify her amendment so that abortion services would not be mandated, she said no; the amendment passed.

In other words, stealth politics is at work. No, FOCA is not on the table, but central provisions of it have made their way into the health care reform bills. What is most disturbing about all of this is that the public is being hoodwinked: most have no idea of the games that are being played. All the more reason why a national discussion on this issue needs to begin immediately.

Catholic League News Release

The current issue of
The New Yorker
(July 20) features an article by Paul Rudnick, “Fun with Nuns,” explaining how he initially developed the movie, “Sister Act.” It also showcases his vile hatred of nuns.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the article:

Why would a supposedly high-brow publication like
The New Yorker
lower the bar by publishing such trash? That it has done so is indisputable. And why would Rudnick, a self-confessed “suburban New Jersey Jew,” loathe nuns so much? We get a glimpse of what’s really bothering Rudnick when he explains how “Sister Act” took form. “I was lying on my couch one afternoon in the late nineteen-eighties, trying to come up with an idea for a screenplay, and I began to think about drag.” So fitting.

Ten years later, Rudnick’s mind was still in the gutter. That is when he gave us “The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.” At the time, I wrote that I had not seen the play, nor had any intentions of doing so. “But I have read the reviews,” I said, “and it sounds like a routine homosexual play: full-frontal male nudity, filthy language, discussions of body parts, butch lesbians, effeminate gay men, ranting against nature, damning God for AIDS, etc.”

Now another ten years have passed, and nothing much has changed. Rudnick says in his article, and in the podcast available on the magazine’s website, that his goal in creating “Sister Act” was to “subvert the Catholic Church.” As only he can explain, “The script called for actresses of all shapes and ages, although the Disney executives still squabbled over which nuns should be ‘f---able.’”

None of this happened, of course, and that is because Rudnick walked out on Disney, handing his work over to someone else. But it’s the thought that counts.

Do You Have The Courage To Be Contradictory?

Do you have what it takes to do what is right? Do you have the courage to stand up for freedom even if it is contradictory to populous belief? Can you see the hypocrisy in the audacious agenda of your own leaders?

I believe many who know what is right have the conviction, but not the courage to stand up for the truth. They see their Republic slowly fading away, but do not speak out because it is unpopular to do so. Our founders did so in a time when it was out right dangerous to; they paid a high price yes, but they did it any way because they knew it was right and they knew future generations would be better off for it.

It is not easy to be the first to step forward, it takes bravery and the ability to overcome the instinct of self-preservation. We must shed ourselves of the indoctrination that peace, tolerance, and obedience is the only way. When they require you to give up your rights they are wrong. If they were the only way the Israelites would still be slaves in Egypt. If they are the only way then Armageddon will never happen and God will never return and defeat Satan and all his evil.

We are Americans, we exist because of our spirit to resist and defeat the thieves of freedom and liberty. You can’t afford to hide anymore behind political correctness; I want to encourage those who might mute their own beliefs, out of fear, to be brave and be free.

It is not just an issue of your or your children’s future anymore; it is about your very soul. When you face your creator will you be able to say you held his light up to all darkness even when there was risk or will you have to admit that you hid his light under a bushel and only allowed it to be seen when it was safe?

House Republicans Press Release

Republican Chart Outlines House Democrats’ Government Takeover of Health Care Rep. Kevin Brady: “This chart identifies 31 new federal programs, agencies, commissions, and mandates that will be in between patients and … their doctor.”

Washington, Jul 15 - House Republicans, led by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) and House Republicans on the Joint Economic Committee (JEC), today outlined a chart detailing the bureaucratic nightmare of the House Democrats’ health care plan. The chart, which Brady detailed in a presentation to GOP leaders today, identifies at least 31 new federal programs, agencies, commissions and mandates that accompany the unprecedented government takeover of health care in America. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement today:

“This chart depicts the health care nightmare that House Democrats have planned for families and small businesses. This isn’t reform; it’s a recipe for disaster that will lead to higher health care costs, lower quality, rationed care, and bureaucrats making medical decisions instead of doctors and patients. Families shouldn’t have to answer to shadowy Washington bureaucrats when they’re seeking health care treatments for themselves and their loved ones.

“If this isn’t bad enough, this new maze of government bureaucracy will be funded by a new small business tax that will cost more American jobs. During a time of economic recession, the last thing Congress should be doing is punishing small businesses that create a majority of the jobs in this country. If Democrats are serious about job creation and real health care reform, they’ll scrap this plan and start working with House Republicans on solutions the American people want. Republicans have offered a plan to reduce costs and expand Americans’ access to quality care – without a small business tax. I want to thank Rep. Brady and House Republicans on the Joint Economic Committee for their work in exposing the truth about what the Democrats’ plan means for families and small businesses.”

NOTE: Republicans on the Joint Economic Committee, led by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), developed the following chart to expose the truth about the Democrats’ health care plan to the American people. The chart is below and also linked here:

Inspiration For Your Day

Be an asset, not a liability!

Heroes come in all sorts of packages.

A bird with a broken wing is not always what it seems.

Tribulation is not a choice, Happiness is.

Thank You!

I just wanted to send out a heart felt thank you to all of my fellow conservative bloggers who toil endlessly to spread the word about socialism, elitism, racism, and where our Republic is headed under the command of our supreme leader, Mr. Butt-man (sorry, I could not help myself;-)

It is hard and thankless work to be a Paul Revere in such a crisis as we find ourselves today. You have elitists on both sides of the fence calling you racist, uneducated, and threats to national security. It gets you down occasionally, but you always pull through and continue the good fight.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring more about your Republic and the freedom and liberty of those you do not even know then about yourselves. We always remember those in our armed forces putting their lives on the line each day for our freedom, but seldom do we remember our fellow bloggers knee deep in the trenches of political BS fighting the corruption coming out of Washington.

Texas Leads Again In Freedom For All

Boy oh boy, Way Up North is on a roll.

Texas has long been an independent and free Republic. This speech proves that the heart of every Texan is proud, big, and free. You cannot enslave those who refuse to be enslaved. These words should strike a chord in every American heart, and rise up the spirit of freedom and liberty for ALL (not just the elitist politicians).

A Tea-Party Speech

Dr. Donald May, Lubbock, TX - 4/15/09:

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a time for courage.

"We are gathered here today on the plains of West Texas in common purpose. We are here to remind our government that this is our country, we the people are still in charge, and our government is still our servant and not our master.

"Our nation’s founding document is the Declaration of Independence. It tells us that our rights come from God and not from a small group of elite men and women.

"Our constitution starts with the words “We the People.” Our constitution was written for ordinary Americans like you and me. Our constitution protects us from our government and from the politicians.

"Our President has complained that our constitution gives ordinary people too much protection.

"He has ridiculed us for the high value we place on our Bibles, our guns, our personal property, and our liberty. He tells us we do not deserve to keep the money we have earned.

"We are told freedom has not worked. Personal responsibility, free enterprise, and liberty have not been effective. Our government will now make more of our decisions for us.

"Other than our military, I can think of not one government agency I have ever found to be helpful.

"And speaking of our military, how about those Navy Seals blowing the heads off those three terrorist pirates? Don’t you just wish our entire government would function with such efficiency, professionalism, and courage?

"We watch in disbelief as our beloved United States is weakened economically, militarily, and morally by a radical President and his eager accomplices.

"What has taken generations to build is systematically destroyed and replaced with the same socialist evil that brought poverty, destruction, and despair to untold hundreds of millions.

"The problems we face today have occurred because we have not defended our nation from socialism. For too long we have allowed the wrong people to make the worst possible decisions.

"The Bible warns us of class hatred. The radical leadership of our government daily fans the evil flames of class envy.

"Our European and Canadian friends beg us to not make the same socialist mistakes they did. The President of the European Union warned our President that his socialist economic plans are taking the World down the “road to Hell.”

"The path to power for socialists includes taking God and guns from the citizens. Without spiritual and physical protection, people cannot defend themselves and their liberty. They soon become slaves.

"We are angered that our President apologizes for the exceptionalism and heroism of the United States of America. We are deeply troubled he told others the United States is not a Christian nation.

"We are angered that we have been called cowards and racists because we oppose socialism. Socialism is not racial; socialism is an equal opportunity destroyer.

"We are angered that a recent Department of Homeland Security report has singled out our military men and women who are returning home as being radical threats.

"The report also characterizes you and me as right-wing extremists and radicals because we favor smaller government and lower taxes.

"You and I are average citizens who believe just like most of our fellow Americans. We want our government to leave us alone and to keep its hands off our money, our religion, or guns, our private property, and our lives.

"We demand that our government stop spending money it does not have.

"Stop confiscating our money and private property.

"Stop printing money.

"Stop subsidizing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the other failed financial institutions and companies.

"Mr. President, stop appointing tax cheats to positions of power and influence.

"Mr. President, secure our borders.

"Mr. President, do not divert money from our missile defense, F-22 Raptors, and other vital military equipment. This gives encouragement, aid, and comfort to our enemies. Protecting us is your number one job.

"Mr. President, do not give voting rights to millions of illegal aliens and felons. You have no more right to create new voters for your benefit than you do to use our money to buy the 2010 and 2012 elections.

"We gather peacefully here today because there is a growing concern for what our government is doing to us and to our future. We fear for the very survival of our republic.

"Yet there is much to make us hopeful and to fill our hearts with optimism and courage. This is still our country!

"The constitution of the Unites States belongs to "We the People". Our constitution still protects us from our government.

"Call every possible elected official, including our President, Vice President, and the Speaker of the House. Demand that they stop stealing our money and giving it to ACORN and their other political supporters in order to buy votes.

"Call [your senators and representative]. Thank them. Urge them to do much more. Remind them now is a time for action and not for campaigning.

"Volunteer to work on our 2010 census. Confront ACORN. Keep our census honest. We must not allow our President to take control of our census for his political advantage.

"We must replace as much of our far left congress as possible in 2010. Get involved. Do not let the ACORN control our 2010 election.

"Talk with someone every day who does not understand our nation’s history and our great heritage. Tell them why the United States is a good and prosperous nation. It still remains that brightly lit city on the hill. It still is the best hope for all mankind.

"Talk with all of the young people you can find. They are our future. Many do not understand what they have and that their future is being destroyed.

"Encourage your elected State officials to pass legislation that will protect us from our Federal government ... Thank them and pray for them.

"This is a time for strong peaceful action. Let us pray that We the People can quickly return our government to its constitutional responsibilities.

"Our President and Congress were elected to be our servants and not our masters.

"May God help our President and congress to quickly realize the error of their ways and stop their reckless and unwarranted spending, cut our taxes, and reduce the size of our Federal bureaucracy.

"If they do not, may God grant us the courage and determination to vote them out of power next year.

"May God richly bless and protect each of you, and our Constitution, as together we pursue liberty!"

Food For Thought

Remember Ms. Boxer's bash against the Brigadier General? Here is one response to her disrespectful behavior I found at Way Up North:

You were so right on when you scolded the general on TV for using the term, "ma'am," instead of "Senator." After all, in the military, "ma'am" is a term of respect when addressing a female of superior rank or position.

The general was totally wrong. You are not a person of superior rank or position. You are a member of one of the world's most corrupt organizations, the U.S. Senate, equaled only by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Congress is a cesspool of liars, thieves, inside traders, traitors, drunks (one who killed a staffer, yet is still revered), criminals, and other low level swine who, as individuals (not all, but many), will do anything to enhance their lives, fortunes and power, all at the expense of the People of the United States and its Constitution, in order to be continually re-elected. Many democrats even want American troops killed by releasing photographs. How many of you could honestly say, "We pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor"? None? One? Two?

Your reaction to the general shows several things. First is your abysmal ignorance of all things military. Your treatment of the general shows you to be an elitist of the worst kind. When the general entered the military (as most of us who served) he wrote the government a blank
check, offering his life to protect your derriere now safely and comfortably ensconced in a 20 thousand dollar leather chair, paid for by the general's taxes. You repaid him for this by humiliating him in front of millions.

Second is your puerile character, lack of sophistication, and arrogance which borders on the hubristic. This display of brattish behavior shows you to be a virago, termagant, harridan, nag, scold or shrew, unfit for your position, regardless of the support of the unwashed, uneducated masses who have made California into the laughing-stock of the nation.

What I am writing, Senator, are the same thoughts countless millions of Americans have toward Congress, but who lack the energy, ability or time to convey them. Under the democrats, some don't even have the 44 cents to buy the stamp. Regardless of their thoughts, most realize
politicians are pretty much the same, and will vote for the one who will bring home the most bacon, even if they do consider how corrupt that person is.

Lord Acton (1834 - 1902) so aptly charged, "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Unbeknownst to you and your colleagues, Mr. Power has had his way with all of you, and we are all the worse for it.

Finally Senator, I, too, have a title. It is "Right Wing Extremist Potential Terrorist Threat." It is not of my choosing, but was given to me by your Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano. And you were offended by "ma'am"?

Have a day. Cheers!

Judge Sotomayor Has Not Learned From Her Struggles

Judge Sotomayor did not learn from her times of struggle the liberals are claiming she has endured (like the rest of us aren't struggling under Obama's oppression); she only became bitter. There are three possible outcomes from times of struggle in a person's life; 1) you learn important lessons and move on as a better person, applying those lessons to your life, 2) you give up and let those times of struggle break you and become a drain on society or worse, or 3) you become bitter and twist the lessons that could have been used for good to destroy everything you perceive as standing in your way.

Judge Sotomayor has definitely done the latter of these; she has become so bitter and hell-bent on destroying all those in the majority, whom she sees as obstacles worthy only of the worst treatment, that she plain and simply refuses to apply the law and instead uses the bench to make it up herself. A Republic is doomed when activists like this infiltrate the most sacred parts of government; a civilian's last hope of justice. Our founding fathers knew this and warned us of the outcome.

Because your fellow voters refused to educate themselves and voted in a presidential parasite who feeds off the hatred of others, because he has no spine or mind of his own, you will be saddled the rest of your and your children's lives with the activism and discrimination she will bring to the bench.

Founding Fathers Quote

A republic, by which I mean a government in which the scheme of representation takes place, opens a different prospect and promises the cure for which we are seeking.

“[E]verybody wants to do something to help health care reform along, but this is nothing but a job-killing, tax-raising measure that will actually take away the quality of care that we've become used to, and in a recessionary time that we're in, will kill jobs.” – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA)
CNBC’s “Squawk Box”
July 15, 2009

Cantor: The Democrats’ Plan Is A Job-Killing Tax Increase…

CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla: “The Times says that House Democrats are jubilant in their words and I guess the question will be what Republicans are going to do about this?”

Rep. Eric Cantor: “It is astounding the breadth of this bill. And look, everybody wants to do something to help health care reform along, but this is nothing but a job-killing, tax-raising measure that will actually take away the quality of care that we've become used to, and in a recessionary time that we're in, will kill jobs. So it doesn't make any sense. We're going to try and raise these issues, try and improve this bill, but certainly it looks like Speaker Pelosi's got this thing on a fast track.”

Quintanilla: “So when it comes to the surcharge tax on people with higher incomes, or the mandate, or the penalties for employers that don't provide insurance, do you have to pick and choose which you have to fight? Or can you fight them all?”

Rep. Cantor: “First of all, what we're talking about here is employers with payrolls at $400,000 and studies have indicated you're talking about employers who employ maybe five to nine people. And they're going to have to pay over $30,000 extra a year right now when they're having difficulty paying the bills as it is and maintaining their payrolls as they are. It just doesn't make any sense. Again, we ought to be looking at trying to do this in a way where we maintain the system that we've got, reduce the cost from the system so that we can help promote job growth right now as well as provide Americans with the kind of health care they're used to.”

Cantor: Democrat Policies Are Clearly Out Of The Mainstream…

Quintanilla: “When we watched the cap-and-trade vote in the House the week before last or whenever it was, the sense was they revived it, but just barely and it's not going to go very far. Are you sensing the same dynamic with health care? Is this going to get large support on the fringe and run straight into a brick wall?”

Rep. Cantor: “I am. I think so. I think that this is another one of those examples where the agenda by Speaker Pelosi is so far outside the mainstream that most people in this country are really beginning to scratch their heads and really asking a couple questions. One, who’s going to pay for all of this? And obviously in this bill, the small businessmen and women are going to pay for this as well as working families. And number two, how is all this going to work? It just doesn't seem this is the America that we know.”

Rep. Cantor Release

Cantor: Will The President Pledge Not To Tax Small Businesses?
July 14, 2009
Contact:Brad Dayspring

WASHINGTON – Today, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) delivered the following remarks at a press availability following a meeting of the House Republican Conference:

“Good Morning. As we see today, the President is going to Michigan on his way to throw the opening pitch at tonight’s All-Star game. His message to the families of that state and to this country is patience. That somehow patience is going to be the recipe to get this economy back on track. Now, my colleagues here from Michigan, Dave Camp and Candice Miller, are going to tell us even more, but we know that the unemployment rate in that state is 14% and climbing. So, how is it that patience is going to work?

“We have a full blown crisis on our hands. Every job lost is an economic free-fall for the family that experiences that job loss. If you’re a factory worker who’s lost a job in the state of Michigan, how does patience help you? We can afford patience, perhaps, on the cap-and-trade bill that passed. We can afford patience on the EFCA bill that the President continues to support. But, we cannot afford patience when it comes to doing what’s right by the American people, which is to get this economy going again and to focus like a laser on job creation.

“So, we stand here today to ask this President – ‘will he join us in a pledge not to impose taxes on small business men and women’? And if he can do that and join us, I believe we can make some progress toward finally getting back on track and having people hired back to work again.”

Online Support Catapults Gov. Sarah Palin As Grassroots Leader

The liberals don't have a prayer against a grassroots Conservative with the ability to drum up online support of every form. Gov. Sarah Palin not only proved she can, but has plowed over the speed bump of liberal attacks to destroy her without so much as slowing down.

Liberals have long painted themselves as the progressive party and are now being beaten at their own game. They are throwing everything they have at her and her momentum just keeping growing. Her fundraising ability (and this is without her actively attempting to raise funds) has been phenomenal since her announcement. She has energized the base and she has not even stated her ultimate intentions yet.

Some people seek and connive to gain power their entire lives and some people have it thrust upon them because they are so greatly needed; this is Gov. Sarah Palin. She is the leader we have been looking for; now we must do our part and rally behind her early and relentlessly like never before. There is no room for hesitation; we are fighting for our childrens’ futures.

Gov. Sarah Palin On Cap And Trade

The Obama administration is heading fast and furious into disaster; his goal is to enslave every American with Cap And Trade. He and his supporters have admitted that it will "skyrocket" poor people's utility bills. Guess what? They don't care. They know what it will do to the poor of this Republic and they are pushing incessantly anyhow.

I wonder what all those adoring supporters whose mortgages were going to be paid and gas tanks were going to be filled by Obama's empty platform promises are going to think when they get their first $400 plus electric bill each month? Think it can't happen. This administration knows it will, they admit it will, and they want it.

They want you to make the choice between food or electric or gas while Miss "I am proud of America for the first time" goes on glutenous shopping sprees in France on the taxpayer dollar and Mr. "electricity bills will "necessarily skyrocket" checks out womens' backsides in foreign countries on the taxpayer's dollar.

Here is Gov. Sarah Palin on this Cap and Trade betrayal.

OurCountryPAC: It's Not Iran - It's Obama's Administration Here in America

Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)

RSC Update: Monday, July 13, 2009

From the Chairman
After six months, it’s now clear that President Obama’s economic policies aren’t producing an economic recovery. In addition to the $787 billion so-called stimulus package, the Democrats have handed billions of taxpayers’ dollars to the auto industry, the mortgage industry, financial institutions, and more. All the President has to show for his efforts are mounting job losses and the largest deficit in history, an estimated $1.85 trillion in Fiscal Year 2009.

President Obama recently tried to push back against criticism of his policies by arguing that his ‘stimulus’ plan was never intended to produce a fast recovery. While conservatives have known all along that it wouldn’t spark a quick economic recovery, we also recall that members of his administration repeatedly claimed it would provide an immediate boost. And if that wasn’t the President’s intention, what was the point? With the President now attempting to move the goalposts, it’s time to end the bailouts and stop his out-of-control spending.

Once again, the RSC is taking a stand. Last week, we introduced H.R. 3140, the Reducing Barack Obama’s Unsustainable Deficit Act, a.k.a. the REBOUND Act. The REBOUND Act cancels the spending portion of the non-stimulus package, saving taxpayers about $460 billion. It also reclaims all unobligated TARP money, currently around $150 billion, and requires all future repayments of TARP funds to go exclusively toward debt reduction. The Obama administration is currently using TARP as a revolving slush fund from which they can “invest” taxpayer dollars into whatever bailout they claim is needed next.

If anyone needs a bailout, it’s the American taxpayer. This simply cannot continue, and the RSC will keep fighting against the reckless (and apparently pointless) economic policies of President Obama and his allies in Congress.

Congressman Tom Price
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

RSC Media Activity
Every week, Republican Study Committee members work hard to ensure that the conservative viewpoint is well-represented in all corners of the media.

· Rep. Phil Roe (TN-01): So Where Are All the Jobs?;Weekly Column, July 8.

· Chairman Tom Price (GA-06): We Can Win on Health Care;, July 9.

· Rep. John Campbell (CA-48): A Right to Health Care?; Weekly Column, July 12.

RSC Legislative Activity
RSC members have made it a priority to introduce productive, conservative alternatives to the Democrats’ reckless agenda.

· Rep. John Fleming (LA-04) has introduced a resolution urging Members of Congress who vote for a government-run health care plan to put their money where their mouth is by enrolling in it themselves.

· Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) and other RSC members sent a letter to Vice President Biden requesting an explanation for why a Department of Energy stimulus program no longer requires job creation as a condition for receiving funds.

Here is a preview of upcoming Democrat proposals to advance their big-government, anti-taxpayer agenda.

· The Democrats will most likely continue to trivialize the process of spending taxpayer dollars by refusing to allow a full and open amendment process for appropriations bills. On the schedule this week are the Energy and Water Appropriations bill and the Financial Services & General Government Appropriations bill.

· The House may also consider H.R. 2701, the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010. Because this legislation authorizes the federal government’s intelligence activities, much of it is classified. Democrats have inserted a number of controversial provisions, and the White House has threatened to veto the bill due to one that would increase the likelihood of leaked information by opening certain intelligence briefings to more Members of Congress.

House Floor Activity
The following key legislation came through the House of Representatives last week.

· House Democrats continued to zip through the appropriations process with little opportunity for amendment and debate. Last week, the House considered three appropriations bills: H.R. 2997, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act; H.R. 3028, the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act; and H.R. 3082, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act.

American Life League Press Release

13 July 2009
CONTACT: Katie Walker

Washington, DC (13 July 2009) – The following is a statement from Judie Brown, president of American Life League and member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, regarding the Montana Pro-Life Coalition's effort to gain legal recognition of human personhood – for the born and preborn.

"Recognition of human personhood is not a question of consensus, but a moral imperative grounded in the most basic truths of the Catholic faith.

"As the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the country, American Life League applauds Montana’s effort to protect the dignity of every human being as a person from his or her biological beginning.

"This courageous effort is rooted in the core principles of Catholic social teaching. Galvanized by a vision of what Pope John Paul II called the “culture of life,” Montanans are promoting the most fundamental human right – the recognition and protection of human personhood – a God-given right the Catholic Church has proclaimed and preached for 2,000 years, a God-given right countless Catholic martyrs have sacrificed their very lives to uphold.

"Montanans are not alone. They’re joined by Catholics and other members of the pro-life movement around the country who are hungry for truth and justice – hungry for the legal recognition of human personhood. Seventeen states – and counting – are working on initiatives that proclaim this fundamental human right.

"Over the past 36 years, many in the pro-life movement have embraced a strategy of so-called pragmatism. However, many others, including those of us at American Life League, are horrified at its obvious failure and ongoing diminishing returns. Opponents will never give us the optimal climate for doing the right thing. Now is the time for the entire pro-life movement to regain the vision and passion that have inspired every human rights champion throughout history. It’s about human personhood."

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. Rep. Michele Bachmann Video: Audit The Federal Reserve

Alaska Claims Sovereignty: Gov. Sarah Palin

Gov. Sarah Palin leaves Alaska with a most precious parting gift by signing the Alaskan Sovereignty Resolution. Alaska now claims their sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution. Their House passed the resolution and Senate passed it with no negative votes (3 not-voting in the House). What a victory for Alaska and what a show by Gov. Palin.

The Secret Society Of The Federal Reserve? Chuck Norris' Take

With great minds like Judge Andrew Napolitano and Ron Paul working for the people and calling for an audit of the Federal Reserve we should be supporting them and contacting our representatives. No matter how many times they strike it down we should never back down.

Chuck Norris gives his take on the renegade Federal Reserve's unrestrained train wreck. Obama's promise for tansparency was a lie just like his other campaign lies; promises he never intended on keeping. They can't afford for the American people to see what they have done because they have another stimulus they want to get passed.

Sarah Palin: The Media Just Don't Get It

There are those in the media claiming that Sarah Palin is going to campaign for Democrats now! Wow, that was quite a leap away from common sense and good judgement. It just goes to show you that they are so used to twisting the truth and making up their own conclusions they cannot even see the writing on the wall.

Her comment that she would "go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation" does not automatically mean Democrats. They cannot even see outside of their little box. She is referring to third party affiliation (and maybe a good, Conservative Dem, if one can ever be found).

If you are going to miss the mark by that much guys maybe you shouldn't be taking pot shots at all; leave it to us Conservatives and we'll get the job done right.
