The Care Taker

Buried alone in the cold, wet dirt
The seed stretches toward the sun's warmth.

Growing in the darkness of the womb
The baby listens for her mother's heartbeat.

Walking the loneliness of the city streets
A man seeks comfort and rest from his creator.

Spinning in a galaxy full of mystery
A planet looks to Heaven for purpose and direction.

Folding the edges of its expanse
Heaven gratefully embraces its care taker.

Submerged in limitless time
God lovingly tends to his measureless creation.

Rep. Michele Bachmann Versus The Uninformed

You want to know why Rep. Bachmann is the best politician in Washington DC? This is why.

Not A Right, Not A Privilege, But A Reward, An Accomplishment

Liberals have betrayed the essence of being American. They have forgotten what liberty is. They have not truly had to sacrifice or suffer for their own freedom. They have become complacent and tolerant of their own enslavement to a looming potential socialist government. They teeter on the edge of a slippery slope never seen before in our Republic and they don't recognize it. Healthcare reform is the greatest Trojan horse ever created and too many Americans are welcoming it into their midst, they are worshiping it, and staking their lives on it.

The reform that is needed is tort reform, getting government completely (100%) out of healthcare and opening up the market bubbles, not only to open up coverage options, but to bring down medical fees to an affordable rate. The rest is dependent upon self regulating the necessity of your own care and not being wasteful, but that would be too much to ask from Americans, it appears.

No Skills, No Success Required - Re-appointing Bernanke

I think the re-appointment of Ben Bernanke is pathetic and irresponsible. The sorriest part about this whole shenanigan is that the liberals in the Senate will put up a great facade of grilling Bernanke and making earn his confirmation. They will make it appear that they are concerned for the well being of the Republic (even though they don't have a clue what that is) at heart and that they want to make sure they put the right person in charge.

The truth being the entire time is that he has the confirmation in the bag, they only have their own interests at heart, and they don't want the right person in charge. Playing games with other people's lives, freedom, hard work, and God given rights should be a self imposed restraint, but give any government the ability to take power it was never meant to have and it will naturally devour itself and everyone right along with it.

The Day There Was Sarah

It was a pretty difficult time for me, a year ago; Sen. John McCain was the Republican nominee for president and I was questioning an entire lifetime of loyalty to the Republican Party. I had even thought about voting third party in the General Election; I was disillusioned and lost. I was waking up to the take over that had occurred in my own party; a take over of liberal RINO's who were leading my party down a path of tolerance, spinelessness, and betrayal.

My only hope was the Conservatives that were being knocked off one at a time by double-speaking, non-committal moderates who cared more about their power and status than they did about the well being of their own Republic. My political spirit was crushed and waiting for one final betrayal before absconding into oblivion. Most days I either could not bring myself to blog or had to had to force myself to. I was on the verge of giving up on all hope I had for for the future.

Then a year ago, today, it happened; something I had held my breath for, wanted so badly, but doubted it would actually become reality. The consuming fire of Conservatism was kindled when McCain actually chose Gov. Sarah Palin for the VP nomination. I knew it was the right choice, the one I had been hoping for and pushing for, for so long. Yet, it was almost too good to be true; one of those moments so right and exciting you are terrified you will wake up from a dream.

Sarah could change everything; the election, Washington DC, our Republic. She was so far removed from the political carnivores that had taken over. She was one of us. She hunted, fished, had a special needs child, shopped at Wal-Mart, and worked hard for what she had. She fought corruption, called out RINO's for what they were, and did not let Party affiliation sway her aversion to their betrayal.

Suddenly, I had real hope again. I could breath again. I could dream again about my children's futures; about my grandchildren. I could see my Republic returning again, someday, to it's founding, it's creation, it's intended design. I could see my freedom and liberty again. That was the day there was Sarah, the day my Republic came back to life for me.

Reflections On The Day Gov. Palin Changed The Nation

I was asked to do a post on my reflections of Gov. Palin's nomination for VP of the Republican Party. My wife and I actually started following Gov. Palin right after she was elected Governor of the state of Alaska. We joined the Draft Gov. Palin for VP movement over a year before she was actually picked. I truly believed that Gov. Palin could change the destructive course our Republic was on and bring common sense back to DC.

Right before the nomination it was announced that Gov. Palin would not be the pick and that she was not even under consideration for the VP spot. It was pretty depressing because I was convinced she was the right person. The morning of the announcement I had woke up extra early to see if there had been a leak and Fox News was reporting that someone matching Gov. Palin's description may have flown in. I excitedly ran and told my wife that it was Gov. Palin.

For the first time in my life I understood what Democrats meant when they talk about the impact that JFK and RFK had on them. It was exciting to have a nominee that we had fought so hard for, but the greatest impact by far was how I felt as a father with daughters. I can't describe it, but it felt like for the first time they could truly achieve anything, even the presidency if they so desired.

For years I told my kids about Margaret Thatcher, but she was from my day. Now my kids would have someone from their lifetime to look up to. I belive Gov. Palin changed the nation even though she did not win the election. She changed it because she showed girls every where that they could be a conservative family woman, career woman, pro-Second Amendment, and pro-life and make it.

This is what I will always be grateful to Gov. Palin for; the example that she is to my daughters and future generations of women yet to be born. So thank you Gov. Palin and I look forward with great anticipate to what the future may hold.

Human Life International's Statement on the Passing of Senator Edward Kennedy

We must, as a matter of precept, pray for the salvation of heretical Catholics like Senator Edward Kennedy, but we do not have to praise him let alone extol him with the full honors of a public Catholic funeral and all the adulation that attends such an event. There was very little about Ted Kennedy's life that deserves admiration from a spiritual or moral point of view. He was probably the worst example of a Catholic statesman that one can think of. When all is said and done, he has distorted the concept of what it means to be a Catholic in public life more than anyone else in leadership today.

Obviously we don't know the state of Senator Edward Kennedy's soul upon death. We don't pretend to. We are told by the family that he had the opportunity to confess his sins before a priest, and his priest has said publicly he was "at peace" when he died. For that we are grateful. But it is one thing to confess one's sins and for these matters to be kept, rightfully, private. It is another thing entirely for one who so consistently and publicly advocated for the destruction of unborn human beings to depart the stage without a public repudiation of these views, a public confession, as it were.

It is up to God to judge Senator Kennedy's soul. We, as rational persons, must judge his actions, and his actions were not at all in line with one who values and carefully applies Church teaching on weighty matters. Ted Kennedy's positions on a variety of issues have been a grave scandal for decades, and to honor this "catholic" champion of the culture of death with a Catholic funeral is unjust to those who have actually paid the price of fidelity. We now find out that President Obama will eulogize the Senator at his funeral, an indignity which, following on the heels of the Notre Dame fiasco, leaves faithful Catholics feeling sullied, desecrated and dehumanized by men who seem to look for opportunities to slap the Church in the face and do so with impunity simply because they have positions of power.

It is not enough for Kennedy to have been a "great guy behind the scenes" as we have seen him referred to even by his political opponents. It is also not praiseworthy to put a Catholic rhetorical veneer on his leftist politics that did nothing to advance true justice as the Church sees it or to advance the peace of Christ in this world. Every indication of Senator Kennedy's career, every public appearance, every sound bite showed an acerbic, divisive and partisan political hack for whom party politics were much more infallible than Church doctrines. Whatever one's political affiliation, if one is only "Catholic" to the extent that his faith rhymes with his party line, then his Catholicism is a fraud.

As the Scriptures remind us, there is a time for everything under the sun. This, now, is the time for honesty about our Faith and about those who are called to express it in the public forum. If we do not remind ourselves of the necessity of public confession for public sins such as Senator Kennedy was guilty of, then we are negligent in our embrace of the Faith and we are part of the problem. As Pope Benedict has reminded us recently, charity without truth can easily become mere sentimentality, and we must not fall into that error. A Catholic show of charity for the family must not eclipse the truth that is required of all with eyes to see and ears to hear.

Senator Kennedy needs to be sent to the afterlife with a private, family-only funeral and the prayers of the Church for the salvation of his immortal soul. He will not be missed by the unborn who he betrayed time and time again, nor by the rest of us who are laboring to undo the scandalous example of Catholicism that he gave to three generations of Americans.

Sincerely,

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer,
President,

Founding Fathers Quote,

I am free to acknowledge that His Powers are full great, and greater than I was disposed to make them. Nor, Entre Nous, do I believe they would have been so great had not many of the members cast their eyes towards General Washington as President; and shaped their Ideas of the Powers to be given to a President, by their opinions of his Virtue.

STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF SEN. EDWARD KENNEDY

Washington, DC (26 August 2009) – (The following is a statement from American Life League president Judie Brown on the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy).

"For 50 years, the Kennedy brothers struggled to reconcile their Catholic faith with the public square. Sen. Edward Kennedy’s legacy will, sadly, remain compromised in the eyes of faithful Catholics.

Kennedy’s claimed to be a Catholic while using his worldly power to condone and facilitate the deaths of innocent preborn babies. Kennedy emphatically defended their right to life in 1971, but tragically abandoned his Catholic principles as his presidential aspirations rose toward the end of that decade.

By breaking faith, Kennedy set a catastrophic precedent for “Catholic” public officials to publicly dissent from fundamental Church teachings while continuing to identify themselves as Catholics.

As Senator Edward Kennedy's death provides a platform for others to applaud him as a historic figure, we mourn the loss of only God knows how many preborn children – lives snuffed out by this man's advocacy of abortion. God have mercy on his soul.

We extend our prayer to his family during this time of loss. As his death brings an era to a close, we pray that it will also mark a new era in which American Catholics will set a far more faithful standard for Catholic conduct in public life."

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. A Republic - If You Can Keep It

Here is our latest video! DR and I have collaborated our efforts to create a video to share our love for our Republic and the foundation of that Republic. We must be lovers of history before we can be scholars of the present. This is where so many have been mislead by so called experts into believing that so much of what our government is doing today is Constitutional; few know true history therefore many don't no any better. Please take the time to watch our newest edition to our video library (small as it may be) and let us know what you think.

Mind Your Own Beeswax - Healthcare Is Not The Government's Problem

Despite what most American's believe that government entitlements are golden eggs that are taboo when it comes to spending cuts. They speak out of one side of their mouths and demand that the government cut spending and cut taxes and groan out of the other side of their mouths when anyone dares to actually do it; actually cut the glutenous entitlement programs, agencies, and spending that are bankrupting our Republic. Hard as it is to accept it is reality.

We live in the greatest nation to ever exist and many of our own citizens would throw it all away for a socialist hell. They would rather give up their own freedom and that of their children before they would even imagine abolishing social security, welfare, Medicare, or Medicaid. Even though we cannot fund the existing programs they now want to add nationalized healthcare to the breaking back of the US economy; it will certainly fail under such an unbearable burden.

Since when can the ever decreasing number of working Americans support the world with their ever shrinking wallets? We fund terrorist nations around the world in a multitude of ways, we fund forced abortions in communist countries, we send money to foreign banks, we give job-creating contracts to foreign companies, we educate, feed, house, and medically treat illegal aliens; how much do liberals think they can squeeze out of taxpayers before they have had enough? How much are you willing to give up before you have had enough?

With property taxes, state and federal income taxes, city taxes, gas taxes, tobacco taxes, sales taxes, license taxes, utility taxes, service taxes, and taxes made up by tax and spend governors who can't balance a budget to save their lives we don't have much left to live on these days and they are going to have to raise those taxes even higher to pay for the Obama stimulus blunder. How are you going to feed your family when you are paying a 70% or higher combined tax rate? Can you afford it? Not many can, but it has happened before and it will happen again. Now add nationalized healthcare and you effectively destroy everyone trying to provide for their families.

Whether we like it or not we are going to have to sacrifice now to save our children's futures. We will have to give up social security, welfare, Medicare, and Medicaid, and nationalized healthcare is not an option. We are going to have to bite the bullet and be responsible.

We will have to work harder and longer, we will have to care for our parents when they are elderly, we are going to have to help support the poor whose work is not enough in our communities through our churches and charities, we will have to let those who refuse to help themselves fail, we are going to have to think differently about medical care and insurance and remove the causes of high medical costs (hint: think insurance and lawsuits not caring for the poor, elderly, or terminally ill). We have to refuse any benefit whatsoever to an illegal alien and realize that God demands that we obey the laws of the land.

We must also put the unAmerican label back on those who have earned it by the fruit they bear and hold them accountable; if you don't like America or her founding principles then there is a whole world ready to welcome you (yeah right!), feel free to leave quickly and quietly. All those who embrace abortion and sterilization even by force and have deemed the lives of our young as worthless and nonhuman should feel right at home in, let's say China! The wonderful thing about the world is there is a perfect place for every America hater of every belief and principle. For those who don't believe in the Godly morals and traditions of this Republic are welcome to leave and find a better country to call home.

America is a home for those who share her founders' vision of freedom, and those who dream of the opportunity to work for and live the true American dream; to be left in peace, keep what you work for, and pass it down to their many children, and own their property tax free. OK, not exactly realistic in these times, but it is a great dream and a great goal to strive for with each and every election as we vote out the Liberals and RINO's and vote in those who most emulate our founding fathers.

The Obama Administration Declares War On The CIA

In yet another attempt to cripple our national defense the irresponsible Obama administration is sicking a special prosecutor on the interrogators who work to keep America safe. It amazes me the love and compassion the Obama administration shows to terrorists while pushing a pro-abortion, weak national security agenda on the rest of us.

If only our own president cared about us everyday citizens like he obviously does the terrorists. After all it is him and his party who is attacking Americans as they speak out against his government take over of healthcare. The Obama administration is already a failure, let's hope they pay a price at the ballot box come 2010. Otherwise we may not have much of a CIA left.

Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, released the following statement today:

McConnell Statement on AG Holder’s Appointment of Special Prosecutor to Investigate CIA from the Office of Senator Mitch McConnell

Monday, August 24, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement Monday regarding reports that Attorney General Holder has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the CIA officials who interrogated Al-Qaeda terrorists:

“We must remain mindful that we still are very much a nation at war with terrorists who spend every hour of their day planning how to hurt America and Americans. That’s why reports that the Department of Justice has directed a special prosecutor to investigate the men and women tasked with keeping America safe is such a poor and misguided decision.

“Several years ago, career professionals at the Department decided the facts did not support prosecuting America’s intelligence professionals based on the practices at issue today. Now, the administration risks chilling our defense and intelligence community’s ability to protect us from future terrorist attacks by reopening this matter. If these reports are true, the American people will be rightly outraged by the administration’s actions in this critical area.”

Is Peter Schiff Un-American? I Think Not

I read an interesting article at Courant.com on Peter Schiff's potential Senate run. Just like almost every article on him, there is, of course, some detractor quoted. These detractors, in my opinion, seem to always make Schiff out to be un-American or disloyal because of his warnings of our financial decline as a nation.

Now you tell me, what is more un-American; saying that everything is OK when it isn't or telling the truth about your convictions, that if we continue on the road we are going down as a nation, that we face financial ruin? We cannot continue this deficit spending and these irresponsible financial policies and expect for everything to be OK.

I personally respect Schiff for his honest appraisal of the current situation and his willingness to consider a run for the Senate so that he can fight for a change in direction that could save our Republic a lot of financial heartache. I say keep speaking out; America needs to hear you.

Chairman Price Delivers the Weekly Republican Address

Click to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBr3VcJ7v4M

RSC Media Activity
Every week, Republican Study Committee members work hard to ensure that the conservative viewpoint is well-represented in all corners of the media.

· Rep. Steve King (IA-05) Liberal Policies Benefit Illegals; Washington Times, August 20.

· Rep. Kevin Brady (TX-08): If Stimulus Bill is Working, Where Have the Jobs Gone?; Houston Chronicle, August 20.

· Rep. John Carter (TX-31): Examining the Evidence on Health Care Reform; Weekly Column, August 24.

RSC Communications Activity
Although the House will be out of session until September 8, 2009, the RSC continues to fight back against the Democrats’ attempts to spin the facts.

· Despite widespread knowledge to the contrary, President Obama is still claiming that the Democrats’ health care proposals will allow those who like their current health care plan to keep it. When ABC News, the Associated Press, and The Washington Post have all taken the time to debunk your claim, you know you’re losing the argument.

· Proponents of the Democrats’ so-called “public option” often become indignant when others say the idea will result in a complete government takeover of health care. They really shouldn’t.

· And the President needs to sit down and read the text of H.R. 3200, the House Democrats’ proposed health care legislation. If he did, he’d know that it would do the opposite of his stated priorities.

Empowering Patients First
· The RSC has introduced its own proposal for health care reform, H.R. 3400, the Empowering Patients First Act. You can find the full text and several summaries of our legislation here, including this section-by-section breakdown of the bill.

Healthcare And Illegal Aliens

One of the areas I feel is most often neglected in the healthcare debate is the impact illegal aliens have on our healthcare system. Here is an editorial that really lays out the truth.
