Last time I checked an unwelcomed sexual violation of one's body is called rape. The use and abuse of virtual strip body scanners in airports are just that. There are many who have naively accepted these scanners as necessary security measures, but their reality is far more insidious. Read this article if you want to know the full picture of what they can lead to. People should be outraged and demand their immediate removal.
I don't know about you, but the fact that a person is willing to make it their job to look at people naked causes me to question their integrity to begin with. Then there is always the fact that once someone becomes desensitized to such an occupation they are capable of justifying all sorts of actions. This incident was a given to anyone with any common sense at all.
If they are truly negatives, as I have heard, then the pictures produced by these scanners could be developed and even placed on the Internet. Do you want anyone looking at your spouse or your child's naked body with God knows what going through their mind and having the ability to print those images out? I don't know about you, but as an American I find this repulsive and unacceptable as a free person with rights.

When I worked in law enforcement years ago, I discovered that the badge-and-gun attracted its fair share of bullies - those drawn to the power those things represent.
This will now attract the voyeurs to stare at naked people in real time, with all the negatives that implies.
This CANNOT end well.
What is truly amazes me is that liberals have no issue with these scanners, even with all that can go wrong. They consider someone looking at their naked body a badge of honor because they do not have a moral system anymore. I know this from first hand conversations with people. My problem is this; just because a liberal sees no problem with it doesn't mean I don't and it doesn't mean that I want to be exposed to it either. Last time I checked this was America; land of the free.
The articles I've read have always been very careful to say the machines would be programmed to delete the images immediately.
Now this is disingenous from the outset as it is clear that the images can be saved. It would certainly be argued eventually that such images need to be saved in order to justify members of the security staff who have passed an evil-doer based on the image.
Left unsaid is the cold, hard fact that such scanners will not make flying one iota safer. It will just make those intent upon evil the more ingenuous in their nefarious plans.
Call Me Mom,
How right you are. It will also keep many from flying at all. I can't tell you how many people I have spoken to that state they are never flying again. I know I will not be. God comanded our nakedness to be covered, I consider it religiously immoral to knowingly expose one's self and I will be retaining my virtue; even in this progressive world.
