The Banning Of Thought

I see several conservative websites have jumped onto the Glenn Beck ambush of Debra Medina to ban and attack anyone who thinks differently than them. I find this shameful and harmful to the Republic. While I personally do not hold the beliefs that are being banned I have stopped going to any site that has stooped to this level.

If they are willing to ban this thought, how long until they are willing to ban something that I believe in? Already, several so-called Conservatives mock and belittle those of us who advocate states rights and a return to our founding principles. How long until they declare that an extremist view and decide to ban it? I am Catholic, many other Conservatives are Baptist; how long until they decide to ban me because I am Catholic?

The heart of the matter is that once you start banning thought you have violated the natural law. The freedom to have our own thoughts and beliefs was given to us by God. They cannot be banned by the government or by an self-righteous individual. We stand on the prefaces of a deep abyss. The Republic is about to fall in and just as it appears that we have regained our balance our side has declared war on what they consider to be a small and insignificant piece of the movement.

What if they discover that small and insignificant piece is actually the toe that had regained our balance? What if by destroying those who agree with us the majority of the time we are destroying ourselves? I could never say it as eloquent as Thomas Jefferson so here is one of my favorite quotes. I will post it often as a reminder:

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attaining too much liberty than those attain too small a degree of it."

God bless and save the Republic for we have taken her for granted.

The essence of free speech is to allow such speech as is abhorrent to us, rather than risk its banishment coming back upon something we would say.

You have expressed much wisdom here.

Hello All,

I have at many times said that as a Navy Sailor I will defend the right of someone to burn the US Flag even though I think what they are doing is disgusting.

Having said that I saw today that "Red State" Banned all "Truthers", "Birthers", & any canidate that does not openly deny them. The difference here is that this is not the Government doing this, it is a private blog. The Constitution & Decloration gives him the right to freely choose what he wants on or off his site.

Open speech is ALWAYS best, but individual freedom of choice must reign supreme.

Thanks & Blessings, Shane

Rev. Paul,

Thank you.

I can only hope that our side catches on that they are mimicking the Left's demonizing and hatred of anyone who disagrees with them. I have really been shocked over the last year at how vicious and angry Conservative leadership gets around Libertarians or those who don't always take the government at its word.

Shane,

Perhaps you misunderstood what I am saying; I believe they have the right to do this, but I feel that it is counter-productive and against everything this Republic was founded on. As for their call that candidates disavow citizens, that is dangerous. They are acting like the far Left. Remember how many mocked the Left's reaction to the pro-Life Super Bowl ad? They are helping the Left by making it appear appropriate to demonize anyone who does not agree with you.

It is also not just these groups. Nancy Pelosi was crying over the tea parties and saying how worried she was about violence. We are entering a very dangerous time. Both members of the Left and the Right are openly saying that those who do not agree with them should be denounced by political candidates and banned from expressing their views. It is important that we really evaluate the impact this will have. I will never argue that RedState does not have the right to do what they did, I am not Glenn Beck and I don't feel I have that authority.

I do have the right though, to point out how dangerous this is and that it won't be long before politicians pass even more laws to ban thought. Remember, we already have the hate crimes laws, which are unconstitutional. The Right had better wake up because they are playing with the enemy's handbook.

And if we don't wake up, the enemy will be playing with us--our absentee White House representative can pat his liberal, leftist, libertine self on the back for helping to make this possible by doing what he does best--nothing of substance:

Our 'wages' for taking for granted our Constitution, is Barack Obama. He is this country's 'punishment' for turning our hearts from the Almighty God.

As Christ pointed out, and later, President Lincoln:

'A house divided against itself cannot stand.'

And now we have an Administration in our White House that labors to destroy what unity remains in this country.

All we have now is ourselves and God. Let's not bicker with the stakes so very high.

Are you following the Medina Money Bomb? I received several emails about it this week. They are trying to get a conservative revolt and moneybomb organized to help Medina for Monday February 15th. www.MedinaMoneyBomb.com

Indeed, Barack Hussein Obama is the measure of what this country has become.

Back on our knees, folks.
