Kentucky Pledge Of Allegiance

I just learned that in 2000 Kentucky passed a pledge of allegiance to their state flag. I absolutely love this. It is important that we teach our children dedication to their state and not some far off bureaucracy in DC. I hear so many people say that they just vote in federal elections and don't worry about the state. The local and state elections will always affect us more than the federal elections. It is important that we return to the love of our states. God, family, state, republic, has always been my motto.

The Kentucky Pledge of Allegiance
(KRS 2.035)

"I pledge allegiance to the Kentucky flag, and to the Sovereign State for which it stands, one Commonwealth, blessed with diversity, natural wealth, beauty,And grace from on High."

Founding Fathers Quote

Government, in my humble opinion, should be formed to secure and to enlarge the exercise of the natural rights of its members; and every government, which has not this in view, as its principal object, is not a government of the legitimate kind.

Lambeau Field Get-A-Way

Crossing the Fox River, you can just see Lambeau Field
beyond the trees and next to the water tower.

We took the kids to Lambeau Field to get away from the cold for a little while. The kids are able to run around inside and have great fun. We enjoyed seeing all the changes made in the Hall of Fame since the last time we were there. Visiting Lambeau Field is always a great treat that we look forward to each and every time we go.

Looking To Spring - Dreaming Of Bluebonnets

It is starting to feel like winter has wore out it's welcome; I am certainly looking forward to spring. It would be wonderful to walk through a field of Texas Bluebonnets again. The smells, the color, the warmth of the sun. This is one thing about the North I will never miss when God blesses us and sends us back home down South.

I will never miss the long, dreary, dirty nine months of winter and rain, and the very short and very cold summer. Living on Lake Michigan is beautiful on a bright summer day, but it has its bitter cold and windy consequences in the winter. The best thing you have to look forward to here, weather wise, is a mild and sunny day. The sun brightens your mood and it is a nice treat getting into your unstated vehicle that has been soaking up the sun's warmth instead of feeling like you just sat in a snowdrift and praying it was not so cold your vehicle won't start. A good battery and a garage are a must here. I would just love to live where April really is spring and June really is summer again.

Last June, when we went to the airshow, it was so cold we all wore thick sweatshirts and still froze our buns off. The Sunny South is definitely calling right now. On the non weather side of things I had a wonderful Valentines Day. I have been spoiled by my wonderful husband and thoroughly enjoyed my day; kind of wish I could make it last longer. Hope you all had wonderful day also.

The Banning Of Thought

I see several conservative websites have jumped onto the Glenn Beck ambush of Debra Medina to ban and attack anyone who thinks differently than them. I find this shameful and harmful to the Republic. While I personally do not hold the beliefs that are being banned I have stopped going to any site that has stooped to this level.

If they are willing to ban this thought, how long until they are willing to ban something that I believe in? Already, several so-called Conservatives mock and belittle those of us who advocate states rights and a return to our founding principles. How long until they declare that an extremist view and decide to ban it? I am Catholic, many other Conservatives are Baptist; how long until they decide to ban me because I am Catholic?

The heart of the matter is that once you start banning thought you have violated the natural law. The freedom to have our own thoughts and beliefs was given to us by God. They cannot be banned by the government or by an self-righteous individual. We stand on the prefaces of a deep abyss. The Republic is about to fall in and just as it appears that we have regained our balance our side has declared war on what they consider to be a small and insignificant piece of the movement.

What if they discover that small and insignificant piece is actually the toe that had regained our balance? What if by destroying those who agree with us the majority of the time we are destroying ourselves? I could never say it as eloquent as Thomas Jefferson so here is one of my favorite quotes. I will post it often as a reminder:

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attaining too much liberty than those attain too small a degree of it."

God bless and save the Republic for we have taken her for granted.

Happy Valentines Day

I hope you all are having a restful and Happy Valentines Day. This is the perfect holiday for us men to remember how blessed we are. I know that my queen has been an eternal blessing in my life. I knew early on that SR was my soulmate and have been thoroughly blessed over the years as we have grown closer. It truly amazes me how close two people can be when they find the person God intended for them.

I know a lot of people consider this to be the Hallmark holiday, but I feel it is important that we never waste an opportunity to cherish and spoil that extra special blessing in your life. I wake up every morning thanking God for my wife. I hope you do the same and that all of us never miss an opportunity to cherish our better halves.
