A Day Of Small Victories

We started the day with the mainstream media proclaiming that Pelosi had the votes, but the American people still showed up in force and the House Republicans had their best day in a long time. There was real leadership on display and a stiff upper lip as they battled against Pelosi and Obama's socialist agenda.

Paul Ryan, in particular, has a bright future.

At the end of the day Pelosi still does not have the votes and the American people will be just as engaged tomorrow as they were today. Pelosi's plans to pass her socialist bill on the Lord's day, with a lot of prayer and continued phone calls from concerned Americans, I don't think she will have the votes and that would make this a great weekend for the Republic.

Now I am going to take the rest of the night off and watch movies with my wife.

Obama Lies Again

Does President Obama Honestly Believe Republicans Don't Care?

Obama is clearly out of touch with reality. Socialism destroys freedom, imprisons people, and rots away the foundations of society until it collapses. This is exactly why we must all stay engaged and remove the socialist Democrat Party in November. Don't just vote, make sure everyone you know votes.

Pro-Life Democrats Abandon Stupak But Pro-Abortion Health Bill Lacks Votes

by Steven Ertelt

March 20, 2010

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The number of pro-life Democrats standing with Rep. Bart Stupak against the pro-abortion Senate health care bill has dwindled as Democrats have applied every possible pressure to persuade them to support the measure. With more pro-life Democrats supporting the bill Nancy Pelosi is closer to getting 216 votes. [

RJ Harris: Declaration of Nullification

By RJ Harris: U.S. Congressional Candidate Oklahoma 4th District

We the People of the great state of OKLAHOMA hold these truths to be evident from our constitutional contract with the United States of America that the states of that union are as sovereign as foreign states and that they give up only so much of their sovereignty so as to allow for the execution of those powers enumerated and assigned to the federal government in the Constitution. Further, we hold that the United States Constitution represents our people's consent to be governed in any measure beyond that which is contained in our own constitution and the consent of the several states to allow the United States to act for them on the issues of national defense, foreign policy, foreign trade and interstate commerce. Moreover, we hold that when these consents are breached, as they have been by all three branches of the federal government, that each breach is an act of tyranny upon We the People and breach of contract upon the several states. These abuses stretch back to the beginning of the previous century and are evidence of the federal government's long-standing design to reduce the federalist system, consented to in the Constitution, to one of despotic central government rule. Such a government was not envisioned by the founders or by the states that ratified the Constitution or by the states that joined the union since, and such a government is wholly detrimental to the people's liberty and to the sovereignty of states.

To prove these assertions of the federal government's intent towards despotism, let the following facts be submitted to a candid world.

It has often refused to allow the states to govern themselves as necessary for the local public good.

It has passed legislation designed specifically to bribe, blackmail, and coerce the states into compliance with its unfunded mandates. [read more]

This Fight Is Not Over

Watching the coverage the last couple of days of the healthcare debate has made one thing crystal clear; everyone is pushing that it is over. They did the exact same thing during the amnesty vote. It was reported all over that they had the votes, that it was going to pass, then during the vote all of a sudden it became clear that it was not going to pass. Senators began scrambling to change their votes. Senator Brownback immediately comes to mind.

So my point is that this is not over until the actual vote and even then it is not over because if they pass it we have to immediately start fighting for an repeal. There is also politicians who will have to pay a price in November and I agree with this op-ed that Nancy Pelosi and Barrack Obama should face impeachment for violating the Constitution if they are able to cram this thing down our throats.

In the meantime continue to call Congress; the number of calls that are coming in are astounding. We can also have an immediate impact by donating to true limited government candidates who are challenging the politicians who are supporting Obama's socialist big government agenda.

Weekly Republican Address: Leader John Boehner

House Republican Leader John Boehner Press Release

Boehner to Speaker Pelosi: “Every Member Should Stand Before the American People and Announce His or Her Vote”
GOP Leader Calls for Special “Call of the Roll” to Require Members to Publicly Announce Health Care Vote on the House Floor

Washington, Mar 19 -

Follow @GOPLeader on Twitter for updates.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) requesting that the final health care votes be recorded by “call of the roll” so that every lawmaker is required to publicly announce their vote on the House floor.

“This weekend’s votes will be among the most consequential votes we will ever cast as Members of Congress,” Boehner says in the letter to Speaker Pelosi. “As such, it is my belief that every Member should stand before the American people and announce his or her vote as the final decision is made.”

According to the rules of the House of Representatives, “Unless the Speaker directs otherwise, the Clerk shall conduct a record vote or quorum call by electronic device. … The Speaker may direct the Clerk to conduct a record vote or quorum call by call of the roll. In such a case the Clerk shall call the names of Members, alphabetically by surname.”

The full text of Leader Boehner’s letter to Speaker Pelosi follows. The signed copy is available here.

The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Office of the Speaker
H232 Capitol
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Speaker Pelosi:

It appears the House of Representatives will proceed with plans to vote this weekend on President Obama’s health care legislation, despite the well-documented objections of the American people to both the contents of the bill and the manner in which the Democratic leadership hopes to pass it.

This weekend’s votes will be among the most consequential votes we will ever cast as Members of Congress. As such, it is my belief that every Member should stand before the American people and announce his or her vote as the final decision is made.

With this in mind, I request that you use your discretion under the Rules of the House of Representatives, Clause 2 and 3 of House Rule XX, to conduct the record vote by call of the roll for both adoption of the Senate health care bill (i.e. the Senate Amendment to H.R. 3590, as passed on Christmas Eve this past year) and for the rule making that bill in order.

Thank you for your consideration of this request.

Sincerely,

John Boehner

Let's Keep The Pressure Up.

Give Congress a call and let them know you expect a no vote; be polite.

Feminism's "Gendercide"

Human Life International e-Newsletter
Volume 05, Number 10 Friday, March 19, 2010
..................................................................................

This week's feature writer is Mr. Joseph Meaney, HLI Director of International Coordination, who has visited more than 67 countries of the world in over a decade of service to the cause of life. He writes today on the international sex-selection abortion crisis.

Feminism's "Gendercide"
By Joseph Meaney

Wondrous news! The mainstream media and even the United Nations have "discovered" the 30 year old crisis of "missing girls." The Economist (the recent edition entitled, "Gendercide") and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) came out with the "news" that over 100 million girls and women that should be alive are not.

The culprits are parents who want to have sons only and use sonograms to identify the sex of their child in the womb. The end result is millions of sex-selection abortions of unwanted girls every year.

Pro-lifers have denounced this "slaughter of Eve" in the strongest terms for some time now. It is undoubtedly the greatest campaign of deadly discrimination against women in history. Incredibly, with few exceptions, the problem of sex-selection abortion is steadily worsening in Asia and around the world!

Shockingly, The Economist's recommended solution is more feminism: more propaganda from the same folks who brought you abortion, but this time directed toward somehow improving the public image of women and daughters. Basically, they are saying that a big PR blitz is needed to highlight the positive contributions of women to society.

Of course, any society that does not value female children or women in general, as much as men, is in serious need of a change of heart on the subject. Can anyone take seriously, however, the proposition that those who trumpet abortion as a paramount right of women are the best ones to lead us in recovering a sense of the dignity of womanhood?

The Economist points approvingly to modernization and societies which have abortion on demand but no sex-selection abortion crisis. Putting aside the fact they acknowledge that Chinese and Japanese-Americans are having recourse to sex-selection abortions, these same "progressive" societies have embraced myriad other assaults on female dignity: pornography, contraception, "sex education" which teaches the objectification of the human person, and so on.

If they are seriously proposing that the solution to the eradication of women in the developing world is a more complete embrace of the very ideology that has so obviously harmed women and men, then we must point out the absurdity of this view as many times as it takes to sink in.

Radical feminists willingly sacrifice the health and lives of mothers on the altar of abortion-on-demand. It is only one step further to stand by while unborn girls are killed for the "crime" of being female. Some "pro-choice" feminists are understandably uncomfortable with this, but they are trapped by their sinister ideology which affirms that no one can tell anyone else their "choice" to abort is wrong.

A turning point in my pro-life education regarding so-called "women's rights" organizations came while attending a March 2007 meeting deep in the bowels of the United Nations headquarters in New York. South Korea's government proposed that the full assembly of the UN Commission on the Status of Women adopt a resolution to condemn sex-selection abortion. The vast majority of international delegations were initially favorable to this proposal; then the feminists unleashed their fury.

The self-proclaimed "defenders of women" lobbied hard and successfully to have the European Union and others abandon preborn girls to their fate and kill the largely symbolic UN resolution. Their logic was essentially this: If we accept that some abortions must be stopped, then all abortions are in danger, and our goal is to spread, not limit, abortion.

The way to end sex-selection abortion is to convince the world of the truth about the human person. All children are created in the very image of God, and as such have profound dignity and a right to life regardless of what doctors, parents, society or the State "choose." No PR campaign can compare with this Natural Law standard when it comes to protecting the lives of unborn girls.

The lie that these feminist hypocrites are defending women or girls must be exposed and denounced in the strongest possible ways. They are defending abortion, period. They are not part of the solution - they are part of the problem - and millions of girls' (and boys') lives are being snuffed out every year because of them.

Rep. Steve Scalise Says the Voices of the American People Will Be Heard

Catholic League News Release

PELOSI LIES ABOUT CATHOLIC SUPPORT

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on remarks made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today:

Last year, when Nancy Pelosi went to see the pope, she was denied the opportunity to exploit him: photographers were not invited into the room for the typical photo session. Instead, Pope Benedict XVI reminded her of the duties expected of public Catholics. But her determination to play the Catholic card—oh, so selectively—rebounded again when she informed the media that today is the feast of St. Joseph, a special day of prayer for workers, and especially Italians. She apparently stopped short of blessing herself, though she didn't stop short of invoking St. Joseph's name in support of the health care bill. Separation of church and state fanatics who suffered apoplexy whenever George W. Bush dropped the Lord's name are not expected to take to the streets.

Then Pelosi lied. She said she is grateful for the support of 60 orders of nuns, not mentioning that the letter she received had a whopping total of 55 signatories. Worse, she had the gall to say that this represents "every order you can think of." Wrong. In fact, there are 793 religious communities, which means she heard from seven-and-a-half percent of them. Moreover, since there are approximately 65,000 nuns in the U.S., that means she was contacted by .0008 percent of them.

In other words, not only are the bishops formally opposed to the bill she champions, it's a lie to maintain that the nuns are on her side. Shameless is too kind a word to use to describe what Pelosi did today.

Catholic League News Release

DISINFORMATION ON HEALTH BILL IS RAMPANT

Catholic League president Bill Donohue seeks to set the record straight on the status of the Catholic Church's position on the health care bill:

We are delighted that Sister Mary Ann Walsh, director of media relations for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), issued a news release yesterday clarifying the position of Catholics on the health care bill. She explicitly cited a dissident Catholic group, NETWORK, for giving the false impression that 59,000 nuns have lined up in favor of the bill. "The letter had 55 signatories, some individuals, some groups of three to five persons. One endorser signed twice."

Perhaps the most commonly disseminated piece of disinformation concerns the question of abortion in the legislation. Is it true, as Catholic dissidents are saying, that the Senate bill does not cover abortion? And if so, are the bishops the ones promoting false information?

The answer does not require legal analysis. All it requires is an ability to read and exercise common sense. If abortion coverage is not in the bill, then why is it that every single amendment written to make absolutely sure that abortion funding is not in the legislation was defeated by pro-abortion senators?

We are happy to note that a health group of real professionals, namely the Catholic Medical Association, has formally opposed the bill; Catholic doctors should be listened to on this issue. The fact that they see right through the disinformation is heartening.

Those in the media who want to know what the Catholic position is on this issue, and every other public policy issue, need only access the website of the USCCB. What others say is intriguing, but hardly determinative.

The Obama Administration's Dismantling of Homeland Security

Not satisfied with appearing weak all over the world and trying to close Guantanamo and give civilian trials to terrorists, the Obama administration is allowing the Coast Guard fleet to deteriorate while cutting its manpower.

Am I the only one who remembers the Democrats screaming about port security and lack of funding during the Bush administration?

When you add in that the Obama administration is ignoring Governor Perry's request for additional resources along the border you are left with the unmistakable conclusion that they are either incompetent or intentionally leaving us vulnerable.

Founding Fathers Quote

Liberty is a word which, according as it is used, comprehends the most good and the most evil of any in the world. Justly understood it is sacred next to those which we appropriate in divine adoration; but in the mouths of some it means anything, which enervate a necessary government; excite a jealousy of the rulers who are our own choice, and keep society in confusion for want of a power sufficiently concentered to promote good.

The Wizard Nebula

This image of the open star cluster NGC 7380, also known as the Wizard Nebula, is a mosaic of images from the WISE mission spanning an area on the sky of about 5 times the size of the full moon. NGC 7380 is located in the constellation Cepheus about 7,000 light-years from Earth within the Milky Way Galaxy. The star cluster is embedded in a nebula, which spans some 110 light-years. The stars of NGC 7380 have emerged from this star-forming region in the last 5 million years or so, making it a relatively young cluster.

WISE, the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer mission, scans the entire sky in infrared light, picking up the glow of hundreds of millions of objects and producing millions of images. The mission is designed to uncover objects never seen before, including the coolest stars, the universe's most luminous galaxies and some of the darkest near-Earth asteroids and comets. Its vast catalogs will help answer fundamental questions about the origins of planets, stars and galaxies.

WISE joins two other infrared missions in space -- NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope and the Herschel Space Observatory, a European Space Agency mission. WISE is different from these missions in that it will survey the entire sky. It is designed to cast a wide net to catch all sorts of unseen cosmic treasures, including rare oddities. All four infrared detectors aboard WISE were used to make this image.

NGC 7380 was discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1787. Her brother, William Herschel, discovered infrared light in 1800.

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?
JUST ASK "THE VIEW"

On yesterday's episode of "The View," the panelists criticized the decision of a Colorado Catholic school not to enroll students of a lesbian couple. Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded today:

When this story broke last week, I told the staff it was inevitable that the gals on "The View" would address it. Why? Because they never miss an opportunity to rip the Catholic Church whenever it fails to ratify the secular thinking in the dominant culture.

"We'll be hearing from Bill Donohue tomorrow probably," said Joy Behar on Monday. Was she at all uncertain? If five Catholics with a history of anti-Semitism bashed the house rules of a yeshiva, would it not occasion a news release from Abe Foxman at the ADL?

I cite this example because none of those upset with the Catholic school is Catholic. Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Whoopi Goldberg are all ex-Catholics. Sherri Shepherd (the only one who is not offensive) is Protestant. And Barbara Walters is Jewish. Hasselbeck, in particular, needs to let go: it's been a long time since she shopped around to find some new religion and yet she is still obsessed with Catholicism.

Both Behar and Hasselbeck said yesterday that Jesus would not have approved of the Catholic school's decision. Nice to know they have a pipeline to the Almighty, and that they consider themselves to be tolerant, non-judgmental and without a trace of bigotry.

Founding Fathers Quote

Our unalterable resolution would be to be free. They have attempted to subdue us by force, but God be praised! in vain. Their arts may be more dangerous then their arms. Let us then renounce all treaty with them upon any score but that of total separation, and under God trust our cause to our swords.

Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)

RSC Update: Monday, March 15, 2010

From the Chairman
It’s been said a million times, but it bears repeating once more: the Democrats’ health care plan puts decision-making power in the hands of Washington bureaucrats, provides for taxpayer-funded abortions, burdens employers with job-killing mandates, raises taxes, and hits seniors with cuts to Medicare. To even get it this far, they made unsavory backroom deals which may in fact remain in the final product.

After all that, is it any wonder that most Americans want Congress to either start over from scratch or drop the issue completely? But if Speaker Pelosi gets her way, House Democrats will soon use a procedural gimmick to “deem” that the Senate version of ObamaCare has passed the House without ever taking an actual vote on the bill itself. What it really means is Democrat leaders have deemed your opinion on this issue irrelevant.

You and I know that’s not how our republic is supposed to function. This government takeover of health care is not yet a foregone conclusion, however. There are enough wavering House Democrats who may yet join with Republicans in listening to the American people. I strongly encourage you to make your voice heard before this week is out.

Sincerely,

Congressman Tom Price
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

RSC Media Activity – Republican Study Committee members work hard to ensure that the conservative viewpoint is well-represented in all corners of the media. Visit our Media Center for more.
· Rep. Pete Hoekstra (MI-02): A Gitmo Deal with the Devil; New York Post, March 11.

· Chairman Tom Price (GA-06): Don’t Stop Fighting for Real Health Care Reform; The Daily Caller, March 12.

· Rep. Paul Ryan (WI-01): What Real Health Reform Should Look Like; Washington Post, March 15.

Outlook – Here is a preview of upcoming Democrat proposals to advance their big-government, anti-taxpayer agenda.
· Speaker Pelosi plans to hold a vote on the Democrats’ health care plan sometime this week (most likely Friday or Saturday). Reports indicate they may actually vote on a reconciliation bill amending the Senate bill while simultaneously “deeming” the Senate bill to be passed. If that occurs, President Obama will sign the Senate bill into law regardless of whether or not the reconciliation “sideshow” gets through the Senate.

House Floor Activity – The following key legislation came through the House of Representatives last week.
· Instead of focusing on the economy or starting over from scratch on health care, House Democrat leaders prioritized H.Con.Res. 248, a resolution that would have instructed the President to begin pulling U.S. troops out of Afghanistan even as they are making significant gains on the ground. The resolution failed by a vote of 65-356.

RSC Reports
· Each week, the RSC Budget and Spending Taskforce compiles a weekly report on the latest budget and spending news. Additionally, the RSC Money Monitor tracks how bills passed by the House affect authorizations, mandatory spending, and federal government revenue.

I have also been inundated with multiple emails providing a list of members of Congress we should contact, including from several people I don't know. This is great news; people are engaged and they are contacting members of Congress. Even Rush Limbaugh put out a call on his radio show for people to contact Congress; something he normally does not do. Here is the list of names I have been provided. Please contact as many as you can find time for.

NEW YORK TIMES TARGETS THE POPE AGAIN

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the latest attack on the pope by the New York Times:

Once upon a time there was a homosexual priest who was accused of molesting boys in Germany. That was 30 years ago. At the approval of Archbishop Joseph Ratzinger (now the pope), he was sent away for therapy and was later reinstated; years later, under a new archbishop, there was another incident and more therapy.

We know this because the New York Times (which does not like to report on molesting rabbis in 2010), told us about this on Saturday in a front-page article. Today, it ran a front-page article on the same story. Was there any difference? Yes. On Saturday, the Times was only able to identify the priest as bearing the initial "H." Today, it has real news: his name is Hullermann. And now "H" has been suspended.

Was it wrong to send abusers to therapy? Is it wrong today? The Times does not say. While it is painfully obvious that psychologists and psychiatrists have oversold their competency in treating abusers, it has long been considered to be both scientifically and ethically sound. It still is. Perhaps that view is unwarranted, but it is flatly unfair to cherry pick Catholic decision-makers for indictment when therapy fails.

The Times also wrote today that when the pope was Cardinal Ratzinger under Pope John Paul II, he was "in charge of reviewing sexual abuse cases for the Vatican." In doing so, the Times leaves the impression that Ratzinger was in charge of overseeing these cases when the scandal developed. Nonsense. The Times reported on January 9, 2002 that he had just been appointed to this role. Thus, he had nothing to do with this issue at the time when most of the abuse took place (mid-60s to mid-80s).

The Times has a vested ideological interest in keeping this story alive. To say it dislikes Pope Benedict XVI intensely is an understatement.

Rand Paul Surpasses $2 Million In Donations

In a major milestone Rand Paul's campaign announced that they have broke the $2 million mark tonight. A huge milestone for any campaign, but especially so in this case as Rand Paul is a pro-Constitution citizen who decided to get involved and not a Party insider with the blessing of the establishment; as is so often the case.

Congratulations to Rand Paul and his team who have run an excellent campaign. His voice is desperately needed in the Senate. Keep in mind that the next money bomb is March 23. If you have not given already, or are not maxed out, please consider a donation on March 23.

Southern Will

Us Southerners have a proud heritage of standing for limited government. I include in that all Yankees who have moved South and asimilated into the culture rather than to change it. Men like Thomas Jefferson and Jefferson Davis fought and advocated for states rights.

We survived invasion, reconstruction, belittling, and political persecution; all while refusing to give up on the notion that our rights come from God and not an all powerful federal government. Peter Heck has written an article examining how the resistance to federal tyranny is popular once more. It is well worth your time.

Catholic League News Release

NEW YORK TIMES GUNNING FOR THE POPE?

Catholic League president Bill Donohue takes on the New York Times:

On March 10, the New York Times ran an article on sex abuse in the Catholic Church stating that in Austria a priest abused a boy 40 years ago. Yesterday, readers learned of a German case where a man says he was abused in 1979. But when Rabbi Baruch Lebovits was found guilty last week on eight counts of sexually abusing a Brooklyn boy, the Times failed to report it. This is not an accident—it is deliberate.

Worse, on Saturday, the Times ran a front-page story saying that in 2002, when the sex abuse scandal in Boston hit, the pope—then Cardinal Ratzinger—"made statements that minimized the problem." No quotes or evidence of any kind were given. "Minimize the problem." Interesting phrase. In 2005, the Times reported that in 2002, Ratzinger believed that "less than 1 percent of priests are guilty" of sex abuse (it was later found that 4 percent was a more accurate figure). The Times characterized his remark by saying he "appeared to minimize the problem." Looks like they got their talking points down just fine.

What the Times could have said over the weekend was that on January 9, 2002, three days after the Boston Globe broke the story on sex abuse, it ran a story reporting that Ratzinger had sent a letter to the bishops worldwide saying that "even a hint" of the sexual abuse of minors merited an investigation. But to do so would have compromised the conclusion it sought to reach.

If the Times were truly interested in eradicating sex abuse, it not only would report on cases like Rabbi Lebovits, it would not seek to protect the public school establishment. But it does. Here's the proof. Last year, there were two bills being debated in Albany on the subject of sex abuse: one targeted only private institutions like the Catholic Church, giving the public schools a pass; the other covered both private and public. The Times endorsed the former.

Palestinians firebomb Jewish father and baby

Headline News

Sunday, March 14, 2010 Israel Today Staff

Palestinians firebomb Jewish father and baby

Palestinian Arab terrorists on Saturday night lightly wounded an Israeli father and his nine-month old baby as they drove on Highway 443 north of Jerusalem.

The attackers hurled a homemade firebomb at the victims' vehicle, setting it ablaze. Medics were able to treat the wounded at the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital.

Highway 443 was closed to Palestinian traffic several years ago after becoming the scene of almost daily terrorist attacks.

Two months ago, Israel's Supreme Court ruled that the army could no longer keep Palestinians from using the road, as it violated their basic human rights. Since then, there have been a number of attacks on the road, all of which can be directly attributed to the court ruling.

Catholic Bishops Urge No Vote on Senate Health Care Bill Over Abortion Funding

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
March 14, 2010

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- In an updated action alert millions of Catholics received this weekend, the nations Catholic bishops restated their opposition to the Senate health care bill over abortion. With the House considering the bill this week and procedural maneuvers to approve it, their opposition could become a deciding factor. [read more]

Catholics, The Time Is Here

Have you had your voice heard in the debate over socialized medicine? Many of you have not gotten involved because even as loud as the cries of no have grown across the Republic, the phones still work on Capitol Hill. If every Catholic called and said no they would be shut down and this vote would never happen.

It is a failing of the faithful that so many are sitting by while a bill that will actually force all of us to fund abortions is about to be voted on. The truth is, it would go against everything we as Catholics say we believe if we allowed our funds to support such a horrendous evil. The actual genocide of the future leaders, doctors, etc. that this Republic so desperately will miss. Support for this bill is a betrayal of God himself and sitting on the sidelines during such a crucial time is the same thing as support.

I find it amazing that God gave us free will. Our Founding Fathers' fought for us to enjoy freedom, yet Obama and so many Catholic supporters of his now claim that it is a blessing for them to take that freedom and free will from us and force us to support moral evils that will not end at abortion, but will also have euthanasia and a denial of vital services as a necessity of cost containment.

I pray that you will stand against this evil bill and make the faithful's voice a deafening roar across the Republic into the very halls of Congress. Contact your Congressmen and Senators and demand that they vote no. Should they cast a yeah vote you must follow through on the threat to vote them out of office. There has to be a political price or this evil will never go away.

Founding Fathers Quote

The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.

Hannity and Repentance

It was three years ago this week that I sat before the Secular Tribunal of Mr. Sean Hannity in a Fox News interview and inadvertently became the whipping boy for the Catholic Church's teaching on contraception. In times past, the enemies of the Church would whip and hang a faithful Catholic from a platform with a piece of cord before an angry mob. Nowadays, the whiplashing is more like a tongue-lashing and is carried out on an electronic stage with an audience of millions. I am so happy to prove my love for the Church, though, by getting whipped for the Faith - and I would do it again without hesitation!

Despite the overwhelming attention that I received as a result, this was never about me, nor Mr. Hannity. It was and is about the basic honesty of Catholics with regard to their own Faith and the responsibility of priests (every last one of us!) to teach, uphold, and defend that Faith until our dying breath! Fidelity to the teachings of the Church is nothing less than fidelity to Christ. We are not free as Catholics to just pick and choose what parts of Christ's teaching we want to adhere to and which ones we want to ignore, cast aside, or - as in the case of Mr. Hannity - to mock and dismiss as outdated and impractical. We are free to leave the Church, though, if we disagree with its teachings. That would be the honest thing to do. What is intolerable to faithful Catholics is the disingenuousness of those who enjoy all the privileges of being Catholic, but who feel no obligation to embrace the responsibilities of our Faith. This was what the Hannity interview highlighted, and it is an endemic problem in our Church.

Generations of martyrs made a much greater sacrifice for their beliefs than those who are inconvenienced by the prohibition on contraception. As the English martyr, St. John Noughton, stood at the gallows with the rope around his neck, he said, "I am bound in conscience and am ready and willing to suffer every kind of torture rather than deny a doctrine of the Church." Wow! That is Catholic fidelity and integrity to the limit.

Perhaps better known is the story of his fellow martyr, St. Thomas More, who died essentially because the pope wouldn't issue an annulment to the murderous Henry VIII. The issue of who exactly would control the Church in England was based on Henry's adamant rejection of the Church's - that is, Christ's - teaching on marriage. Less than five hundred years later, Henry's Anglican church is in utter disarray on all the issues of marriage and human sexuality precisely because of the original dishonesty upon which it was founded. Such chaos is the inevitable result of any church's betrayal of Christ's teaching.

This same rejection of centuries-old, well-articulated, infallible teaching is what we are faced with in modern America. We have to admit that the failure of millions of Catholics to uphold and live according to the truths of our Faith has led us down the heinous path of rampant promiscuity and institutionalized child-killing. "You are the salt of the earth and the light of the world," said the Lord and added, rhetorically, "but what if salt goes flat?" That's a good question! If Catholics alone would have been strictly faithful to our own doctrine in the last half century, we would have preserved our society from the degraded culture of promiscuity and death that we lament today. Alas, Catholics who preserve themselves from childbearing rather than preserve the moral integrity of our society have betrayed Christ in His deepest agony since the Garden. Because we let the pagans break down the walls of faith and morality, all families in our country, our own included, are rendered vulnerable to the pernicious culture of death. We did it to ourselves.

Perhaps the most disappointing part of that Hannity interview was the way in which Fr. Jonathan Morris, Fox News priest advisor, defended Mr. Hannity in his dissent against a Catholic priest who was actually defending the orthodox teaching of the Church. The priestly sell-out on contraception and church discipline is a painful corollary to Hannity's lay dissent. The shameful silence of the clergy on the issue of Catholic morality in the era when it has been most needed is an insufferable failure of those responsible for being its guardians. We will be for generations digging ourselves out of this clerical mess, and although the tides are indeed turning toward greater orthodoxy in the clergy, the damage has been done, and priests bear the lion's share of the blame for the degradation of the moral fabric of our world.

As the years go on, and especially during this Lenten season, I hope that the Hannity interview will be a clarion call to Catholics urging them on to greater fidelity to Christ. And, no, Mr. Hannity did not respond to my request to meet after the interview, nor has he revisited the issue in any way since that time. I still pray for him and hope for his conversion. What I hope and pray for even more is a total return to fidelity of all Catholics to the Truth on the critical issues of life, marriage and family, and the sacrificial commitment that alone will bring America out of its moral decay.

Sincerely,

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer,
President, Human Life International

Looking For Trouble

Ever notice how Moderates and Liberals who disguise them selves as Conservatives go around looking for trouble? Like a heat-seeking missile they seek out Libertarian leaning Constitutionalists to destroy. I am referring to so-called Republican-Conservative media figures, politicians, and leaders who go for the political jugular of Libertarian-Conservatives and rip them to shreds in the public eye.

There is a new base forming from those who love and fight for freedom, liberty, states rights, and sovereignty. The new base is growing in strength and the RINO's are trying to destroy it because they know it is a threat to their power. Once a small group standing strong, but alone, they are now being joined by those who want to take back the Republican Party and make it, once again, the protector of our founding principles.

Libertarians, Constitutionalists, third Partiers, call them what you will, but know them for what they are. They have been freedom fighters who have withstood the test of time and they were right about many things. President Reagan once said "I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism."

For too long they were considered extremists and intolerables; but whose warnings have come to pass? Not everyone is going to agree all the time, but when you find yourself on the same side more than not there is a natural alliance. The face of the Republican Party has taken many forms, but when it becomes so hideously contorted it is time to bring it back, as close as possible, to its original framework like Reagan endeavoured.

We can accept it or we can ignore it, but those of us who have grown up our whole lives as Republicans who believe in the Republic, as it was intended by our founding fathers, have found ourselves outcasts from our own Party. Taken over by Liberal leaning deceivers the Republican Party has betrayed its own base to it's principles' peril. It has changed its face so drastically it is no longer recognizable, even by its own.

Those who have been betrayed, Christians, Conservatives, Tea Partiers, Patriots, Americans, have a choice to make and we are making it. Invite, with open arms, that stead-fast third party into your midst and make them your own. Together we can create a new, stronger, and formidable base and take back the Republican Party. Together we can kick the trash to the curb and make America free once again.
