The only way we will save Wisconsin jobs and bring business to this state is to turn out every Democrat this November. We have to have control of the governorship, state senate, and assembly if we are to repeal the anti-business legislation and regulations inflicted upon this state.
A majority of the land in Utah, as in many Western states, is owned by the federal government. Herrod’s measure treats the federal government like any other property owner in the state. It allows Washington to keep the rights and title to the land but not ultimate jurisdiction over it. That jurisdiction rests with Utah, and it means that federal land holdings may be subject to state eminent domain authority. [read more]

~ Governor Reviews Bills Approved by Legislature ~
With the regular session of the 2009-2010 legislative session having come to a close on April 22, it is now up to Governor Jim Doyle to act on dozens of legislative bills that were approved by the State Senate and State Assembly over the last month. While I provided an update on the results of some of the more controversial legislative issues of the session in my last Capitol Connection column, following is a partial listing of some of the other proposals that did not receive as much attention but now await the Governor’s signature or veto:

Catholic League president Bill Donohue points to an article in today's New York Times as an example of its tendency to allow editorial commentary to creep into its hard news stories:
Rachel Donadio wonders whether the Vatican "will confront the failures in church leadership that allowed sexual abuse to go unpunished." She adds that "the culture of the church was for decades skewed against public disclosure and cooperation with the civil authorities," and that only now are the bishops required to report abuse to the authorities. She consistently refers to the problem as pedophilia.
Perhaps Ms. Donadio missed reading the Times story of April 10 on Leslie Lothstein, a psychologist who has treated about 300 priests. He says that "only a small minority were true pedophiles." Correct. All the data show that most of the molesters have been homosexuals.
Yes, most abusers went unpunished, but it is wrong to imply some sinister motive like "secrecy." For example, the Murphy report on abuse in Dublin found that most bishops followed the advice of therapists—not canon law. In short, had Church law been followed, instead of listening to the prevailing psycho-babble, things might have been different.
The idea that the Catholic Church is just now reporting cases of abuse is a red herring: no institution has a record of reporting abuse. Here is what Paul Vitello of the Times wrote last October: "For decades, prosecutors in Brooklyn routinely pursued child molesters from every major ethnic and religious segment of the borough's diverse population. Except one." The exception was the Orthodox Jewish community, and this is because Orthodox Jews have "long [been] forbidden to inform on one another without permission from the rabbis who lead them."
There is no law in most places mandating the reporting of any crime, and that is why fingering the Catholic Church smacks of bigotry.
We will not stop until the Times stops with its selective outrage.

The Navy Touts Equality Amongst The Sexes On Sub Service - Men Must Be As Miserable As The Feminists
As a woman I can say with confidence that women should never intrude where they don't belong. Just as there are places where men don't belong, there are lines you don't cross in this world; no matter how liberal the progressives would like to force us to become. Women in the military can be a positive, or they can be a negative.
This is my opinion, as a woman who very much wanted to join the Navy; probably would have been a lifer;-) I don't make these remarks lightly, but I will also make no bones about it as I have learned from experience and from the willingness to acknowledge the truth.
The very presence of a woman, whether intended or welcomed, puts an automatic sensual spin on any military situation without having to throw fuel on the fire. Like it or not libs, you cannot lie when the truth is obvious. With this misguided move, you have the unavoidable distraction that the presence of a woman causes, you have the disharmony it causes within the affected families, women's natural role, and instinct, is to nurture and it tends to interfere with her ability to fulfill what is required in certain military situations, and finally add to the mixture the inevitable percentage of women who can't keep their pants on and you have a horrible situation just waiting to blow up.
Women and libs can judge me all they want for speaking the truth, but ask your self this; what reason does any woman have to intrude herself in such tight, public quarters with men when there are hundreds of places, more private and comfortable, she can better serve? I can assure you it is not a virtuous motive.
From this family gal, who would have loved to have been a Navy gal, to all those serving proudly in our armed forces remember this, you best serve when you serve proudly and virtuously from a situation best suited to who you are; a woman. Be proud of it rather than attempting to punish men for some perceived oppression. The only injustice is that women are taught by liberals that being female is substandard and unless they make themselves more manly they are not good enough.

How Mexico Treats Illegal Aliens
by Michelle Malkin
Mexican President Felipe Calderon has accused Arizona of opening the door "to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement." But Arizona has nothing on Mexico when it comes to cracking down on illegal aliens. While open-borders activists decry new enforcement measures signed into law in "Nazi-zona" last week, they remain deaf, dumb or willfully blind to the unapologetically restrictionist policies of our neighbors to the south.
The Arizona law bans sanctuary cities that refuse to enforce immigration laws, stiffens penalties against illegal alien day laborers and their employers, makes it a misdemeanor for immigrants to fail to complete and carry an alien registration document, and allows the police to arrest immigrants unable to show documents proving they are in the U.S. legally. If those rules constitute the racist, fascist, xenophobic, inhumane regime that the National Council of La Raza, Al Sharpton, Catholic bishops and their grievance-mongering followers claim, then what about these regulations and restrictions imposed on foreigners? "The administration should do everything in its power to block
taxpayer money from financing an international bailout slush fund. Hard-working
Americans should not see their tax dollars sent overseas to bail out nations

While nearly all states are in deep fiscal trouble, New Jersey is in deeper than most. Its deficit amounts to 37 percent of the entire state budget. Washington, DC- -U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference and a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, gave the following opening statement today at the first conference committee meeting on Iran sanctions bills passed by the House and Senate:
"Mr. Chairman, I would like to thank you for convening this conference committee and I commend the members of this conference committee who have recognized the threat posed by Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons.
"This conference committee has no ordinary task. We have a job to do and history will judge the actions taken by this conference committee and this country. I pray that history will conclude that we rose to the challenge and enacted legislation that led the world to act in concert against the rising threat of a nuclear Iran. I will also pray that history will not conclude that our failure to lead boldly ended in a flash of light, the rush of wind and a second historic tragedy for our most cherished ally. The stakes are that high.
"We must make certain that the prospect of an Iranian regime armed with nuclear weapons never materializes. As President Obama noted last year in Prague, a nuclear Iran will 'increase insecurity for all.' One year later, Iran's nuclear program is accelerating and we draw ever closer to the reality of Iran as a nuclear power.
"As we have seen for the last sixteen months, diplomacy and engagement have had no real impact on Tehran. Deadlines set by President Obama have passed without any change in Iran's behavior and the United Nations has demonstrated no serious leadership on this issue.
"Secretary of Defense Gates has noted that we do not have a real long-term strategy to stop Iran from realizing its nuclear ambitions.
"Frankly, this Administration has spent more time on global warming than on the growing threat of a nuclear Iran. The Nuclear Security Summit, recently held here in Washington, D.C., did not bring us any closer to imposing tough sanctions on Iran despite the fact that Iran's continued pursuit of nuclear weapons and its support for terrorism remain the single most pressing proliferation threat.
"As members of the conference committee, we must report the strongest possible Iran Sanctions bill back to the Congress to force the Iranian regime to give up its weapons program or face crippling economic isolation. We must resist efforts to weaken the sanctions in this legislation to accommodate diplomatic concerns. We must resist efforts to include carve-outs and waivers that will dilute the effectiveness of our action.
"And lastly, we must remember that time is of the essence. As instructed by a bipartisan majority in the House, I urge my colleagues on this committee to bear down and complete our work by May 28, only a few weeks from now.
"There are some in diplomatic circles and within this Administration who undoubtedly want to see this committee and this process slowed down, but as our military's leaders recently testified before Congress, time is running short. The Iranian regime soon will not only possess a nuclear weapon, but it continues to test the means with which to deliver it against the United States or our allies. We must act boldly and we must act quickly.
"Given the long history of state-sponsored terrorism by the regime in Tehran, and given the threat to our security and our most cherished ally Israel, this is life and death."

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is releasing a video clip today that shows an illegal alien supporter in Arizona claiming that shovels and axes will be used against Americans just prior to the riot, where police officers and American citizens were assaulted by the mob protesting SB 1070.
VIDEO CLIP THREATENING ARMED REBELLION
"We will not stop! We will take up our shovels and pickaxes and we...we will use them against you! Believe that!" screams an opponent of Arizona's tough new bill addressing illegal immigration.
Several organizers supporting the opponents of the bill can be seen trying to stop illegal alien supporters from accosting American citizens who support SB 1070.
Despite intense efforts by illegal alien organizers and police to keep the angry crowd back, a large Hispanic male in a red sport jersey that reads "Warner 13" tries to push past handlers and another voice screams (garbled) "you can't argue with a puto!"
The Urban Dictionary defines a puto as a "Spanish word for a male prostitute. sometimes it's offensive for homosexuals. In Mexico it is used for cowards and traitors."
Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is circulating this video to the nation via national press release today. The video is also being sent to ALIPAC's 30,000 national supporters for comment and circulation, with encouragements for activists to send copies to state and federal lawmakers.
ALIPAC is also issuing an advisory to law enforcement agencies across America in anticipation of the May 1st illegal alien protests scheduled nationally by Congressman Luis Gutierrez and the National Council of La Raza (The Race).
"We just want to make sure that our police agencies in these towns and cities where similar groups of angry illegal alien supporters plan to gather on May 1, are fully and properly informed," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "We are asking our supporters to make sure their local police are aware of the riots, assaults on police, assaults on Americans, and murderous slogans advocating armed rebellion documented in this video, as well as others coming out of Arizona."

From the Chairman
Last week, the Chief Actuary of Medicare released a troubling but not at all surprising report that says ObamaCare will increase national spending on health care by at least $311 billion over the next decade. Democrats spent the better part of a year trying to convince Americans that their plan was fiscally responsible. But even with all the accounting and timing gimmicks they used to make the numbers look better, the truth about the costs of this plan continues to come out.
Now Democrats want you to believe that their plan for financial reform will end the culture of bailouts and the notion that a private company can be too-big-to-fail. In reality, their plan actually codifies the bailout culture and enables the expansion of companies they deem too-big-to-fail at the expense of smaller and local institutions. It is a continuation of the current political economy that threatens our nation’s financial stability and long-term prosperity.
As with health care and their failed stimulus package, the Democrats’ rhetoric simply does not match reality. House Republicans have a positive solution that will end the bailouts, protect consumers, restore market discipline in the financial sector, and provide a firm footing for private sector job creation and long-term economic growth.

There is an independent, God-fearing, freedom loving America and an A-moral, big government, dependency loving America. I believe you can break it down even further, but I won't bore you.
Here is the latest article I have found on secession. I disagree with several parts of the article, but the biggest disagreement I have is the term 'neo-confederate'. This term is generally used to denigrate Southerners who support an honest review of history.
Whose Country is This?

With the support of 70 percent of its citizens, Arizona has ordered sheriffs and police to secure the border and remove illegal aliens, half a million of whom now reside there.
Arizona acted because the U.S. government has abdicated its constitutional duty to protect the states from invasion and refuses to enforce America’s immigration laws.
“We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act,” said Gov. Jan Brewer. “But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created an unacceptable situation.”

Washington, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference, delivered the following remarks as the president’s fiscal commission is slated to hold its first meeting today:
"Our country is facing a fiscal crisis, but the president's fiscal commission is not a serious effort to stop out of control spending. The president needs to tell this commission that new taxes are not an option, and he needs to take all new tax proposals off the table, including any form of a European-style Value Added Tax.
"If the president is serious about reining in government spending, he will take out his veto pen and tell Congress to stop sending him bloated, big-government legislation that's filled with wasteful spending.
"The American people want fiscal discipline and bold new ideas. That's why Congressmen Jeb Hensarling, John Campbell, and I introduced the Spending Limit Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Our Spending Limit Amendment will limit government spending to one-fifth of the economy.
"The American people don't want to wait for another commission to tell us how bleak the problem is, and then hope that Congress will finally make tough choices. We need to cut spending now, and adopt a Spending Limit Amendment to rein in government spending for generations to come."

Washington, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference, delivered the following remarks today on the House floor regarding a report released last week from the president's own administration, which says that ObamaCare actually raises health care costs:
"After months of debate and assurances that their government takeover ofNote: To view this speech, click here.
health care would actually result in lowering the cost of health care for
Americans, the truth landed with a thud last Thursday.
"A new report
from the Obama Administration's own Medicare agency confirms what we have known
all along. The president and Congressional Democrats passed a health care law
without any idea how to pay for it.
"They promised to lower the cost of
health care but instead ObamaCare will send those costs soaring by $311 billion.
Again, this is from their own analysts within the administration. The same
report says in the same way the Democrats set out to pay for the bill are
‘unsustainable' and some of the methods they use to control costs are
"The reality is we need to repeal ObamaCare and replace it
with the kind of health care reform that will lower the cost of health care
without growing the size of government. And House Republicans are determined to
be on the side of the American people until we do just that."
“While the administration seems determined to change the subject, House
Republicans are even more determined to stay focused on creating jobs, getting
spending under control, and repealing and replacing this government takeover of
health care with health care reforms that will lower the cost of health
insurance without growing the size of government.
“Last week their own
experts at CMS found that ObamaCare fails to lower health care costs as
Democrats have promised. The president’s own analysts concluded that the country
will spend $311 billion more under the new law than we would have without it.
This now flies in the face of promises of deficit neutrality and fiscal
responsibility, and the American people are saying ‘enough is enough.’
“House Republicans will remain focused on creating jobs, controlling
spending, and repealing and replacing ObamaCare with health care reform that
will serve the interests of the American people and not the bureaucracy.”
Steven Mulvain, a 23-year-old employee of Britain's Foreign Office, sent an e-mail memo to Downing Street and other government offices saying that when Pope Benedict XVI visits England in September it would be "ideal" for him to open an abortion clinic, bless gay marriage and introduce a "Benedict" brand of condoms; there were other suggestions of a similar nature. Though the Foreign Office issued an apology, the guilty Oxford graduate was merely transferred to another office.
Commenting on this incident is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:
The Brits are bigger hypocrites than their like-minded liberal Americans. Back when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister, a law known as Section 28 was passed banning government funds from being used to support homosexual families, declaring lesbian liaisons to be "pretend" families. Now Tory leaders are scrambling to apologize for Section 28, boasting how gay-friendly their party has become. Similarly, two years ago, the British government renamed Islamic terrorism "anti-Islamic activity," maintaining that not only is there no such thing as Islamic terrorism, all such violence is really anti-Islamic. Yet when it comes to government officials who insult the pope, no punitive sanctions are taken─he is simply shuffled from one office to another.
Following the logic of the British government with regard to Muslims, they should declare all cases of priestly sexual abuse to be "anti-Catholic activity." But we Catholics have no reason to believe that we will ever achieve parity with Muslims. Maybe that's because we are too nice.

We desperately need prayer. One, that baby's health and life are protected by God. As to the other possibility, we love our son very much and look forward, with great anticipation, to welcoming him into this world.
If you wait until it affects you and your family, it is too late. People are suffering from crushing financial burden, being imprisoned falsely, being targeted by government agencies and placed on offender lists without due process, having their homes invaded by government agents who write their own warrants, having their jobs ripped away from them because of green legislation, and losing rights and freedoms on a daily basis all because of activist judges and legislators.
The blood of American freedom has been spilled in the waters of DC and our legislators have become so uncontrollably ravenous in their attack on our rights that I fear for my children's futures. What kind of life are they going to be left with if we do not reign in DC? In a society where they will be told what job they can have, what pay is appropriate, how much they have to redistribute to the lazy, what medical care they can and cannot have, what bank they have to put their money in, what religion they are allowed to have, and that if they are not a minority they are worthless and when targeted by minorities given no reprieve there will be no reason to even exist; to the point that their very existence will be painful.
That is not the American dream and that is not the future I want to give my children. We need to stop this government intrusion, this take over, this unrestrained slaughter of freedom now; before it is too late and before it affects us personally.
