Founding Fathers Quote

We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.

Update On Baby

We know a lot more now. His appointment at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee is September 7th. They are not looking at the kidney. The kidney is doing what it needs to do and taking care of itself naturally. They are looking at a outgrowth on the tube between the kidney and the bladder. The pediatrician is unable to determine here if it is a cyst or a diverticulum caused by a defective valve in the bladder. If it is a cyst there is no need for further treatment or observation above what his kidney already requires. If it is the diverticulum they will need to surgically remove the kidney and tube and repair the defective bladder valve.

As always we appreciate everyone's prayers. I want to tell our regular readers that God has greatly blessed Crichton. Besides the issues with his kidney he is the strongest baby we have ever had. He is thriving and the pediatrician could not be happier.

Way Up North: Thoughts on a Sunny Afternoon

"... Others may disagree, but that's okay. It takes all kinds to make America strong, and decent folk can disagree without coming to blows or worse. Those who want to dismantle all that has made us strong, to dismember and erase our history ... our values ... our core principles and beliefs ... can take a hike. There are plenty of nanny-state governments all 'round the world, and they're welcome to visit any of them ... and stay there..." [read more]

Pence: Democrat Policies Have Failed to Bring Down Unemployment

"Democrat policies of taxing, spending and bailouts have restricted job creation and caused uncertainty among small business owners."

Washington, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference, released the following statement today after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the national unemployment rate for August rose to 9.6 percent:

“Today’s unemployment report is a sad reminder that the
economic policies of Washington Democrats have failed. In Indiana and across the
country, people are hurting. For the past year the national unemployment rate
has been 9.5 percent or higher, and since Democrats borrowed nearly a trillion
dollars from future generations for their so-called stimulus, this economy has
shed 3.6 million jobs.

“Democrat policies of taxing, spending and
bailouts have restricted job creation and caused uncertainty among small
business owners. Instead of being able to invest in their companies and workers,
job creators are bracing for the devastating tax increases that Democrats plan
for January 1, and the dramatically higher health care costs that will be a
consequence of ObamaCare. Washington desperately needs to return to the proven
formula of fiscal discipline and fast-acting tax relief that will put Americans
back to work.”

West Virginia Senate Race Tightening As Expected

I continue to be amazed that so-called experts have no clue what they are talking about. I spend hours a day researching races all over the Republic and one thing is clear, the voter revolt against big government will be much larger than the experts have been predicting. I have called several of the supposed surprises this year so I started to write some of them down. One of them was the West Virginia Senate race where I wrote this on August 21:
"If I were to guess on the election results I would guess we would
have closer to an 80 seat pick up in the House, 12 in the Senate, and I am
keeping a close eye on West Virginia. Given that state's resistance to the Obama agenda I would not be surprised to see that Senate race tighten."
It doesn't take brilliance to figure out that West Virginia was never thrilled with Obama and he lost any chance of winning them over with his radical agenda. Now there is an open Senate seat and surprise, surprise, the Democrat is not a shoe-in. Voters across the Republic are going to send a lot of Democrats packing this November and it looks like West Virginia may be one of them. If you want to help the Republic, please consider a donation to John Raese. The latest poll have him within six and given recent polls' nationwide over estimating Democrat support it could be even closer.

Galaxy at the Edge

Spiral galaxy NGC 4921 presently is estimated to be 320 million light years distant. This image, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, is being used to identify key stellar distance markers known as Cepheid variable stars. The magnificent spiral NGC 4921 has been informally dubbed anemic because of its low rate of star formation and low surface brightness. Visible in the image are, from the center, a bright nucleus, a bright central bar, a prominent ring of dark dust, blue clusters of recently formed stars, several smaller companion galaxies, unrelated galaxies in the far distant universe, and unrelated stars in our Milky Way Galaxy.
