Ron Paul Wins CPAC Straw Poll: RINO's Respond As Expected

Ron Paul wins the CPAC straw poll and immediately many of the mainstream Republican blogs and websites start parroting the Ron Paul won, as expected, line in an attempt to diminish his accomplishment. One thing that has greatly frustrated me over the years is how much time our own party puts into destroying conservative or libertarian leaning candidates. They attack them with significantly more vitriol than they direct toward the Democrats. In the process they have severely damaged countless candidates, costing them elections or limiting their margins of victory.

Ron Paul and those like him scare the establishment because of the loss of power and control a Ron Paul win would mean for them. The truth is they don't trust the unwashed masses to control their own lives any more than the Democrat party does. It truly is amazing how terrified and frightened they are of any libertarian ideas. Ron Paul and several Libertarians support some things I do not necessarily agree with, but I would rather live with a politician who would push too much freedom (if such a thing exists) than one who would chain me to a burdensome bureaucracy that slowly eats away at my natural rights.

Too many people live in fear. Fear of terrorism, fear of crime, fear of the unknown. It is time to throw off the shackles of fear and reclaim our God given rights. Elect politicians who will fight tirelessly for those rights or soon we may find all of our rights have vanished. God bless the Republic and all those who have and are defending her.

Ron Paul: On the PATRIOT Act

Janet Napolitano Admits Her Policies Have Failed

Janet Napolitano attempts to scare citizens into giving up more freedoms and rights so the government can institute an omni present police state. They are setting into place policies that would eventually monitor every move you make every day of your life, even what you do behind closed doors, in the name of security and safety. This attempt in itself is an admission that everything they have done up to this point, every policy and every injustice committed, has been in vain and has been a failure.

Since this proves that their policies to protect us from terror threats have failed, by their own admission, then one must ask themselves if the policies have been put into place not to battle terror threats but rather to keep the American public in line.

Had they been successful we would not be at the highest terrorist threat since 9/11. In fact it would be just the opposite, we would be the safest we have ever been. So with them utterly and completely failing to protect us from terrorists why would we give up more of our rights and freedoms for more intrusive and unconstitutional federal security measures?

We all know their MO in situations like this; there will at some point in the near future be some terror act that will conveniently be discovered just in the nick of time, or God forbid too late. The frenzied liberals, with the help of the repugnant media, will scream and viciously accuse freedom lovers for creating an atmosphere that allowed the terror act to occur because we clung to our last shred of liberty and humanity instead of allowing them to create a slave state out of what is left of America, in the name of security.

Are you man or mouse? Are you in control of your future or are you some lab rat in a glass cage? Prove your humanity now while it still matters. Demand that your representatives place the shackles of restraint on this security monster and keep them there for life. Think for your self, connect the dots, don't blindly follow the viper into the snake hole.

Much Needed Education Reform Headed Our Way

Here is some positive news for Wisconsin residents. There appears to be serious efforts underway to bring about desperately needed education reform.

One of my top priorities would be cutting the size of the administrative bureaucracy. There are way too many positions that do not directly involve educating the children. We also desperately need more choice. Our school offers the bar minimum when it comes to history and geography and the principle is never willing to discuss curriculum. Too many times field trips and projects seem to take a higher priority over math, science, history, geography, and reading.

Schools are never going to improve until educating children becomes more important than teachers unions and pretty buildings.

GOA alerts: ATF Declaring War on Honest Gun Owners

ATF Declaring War on Honest Gun Owners

They are coming for your guns any way they can.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is waging a war on innocent gun owners, and not surprisingly, the Obama administration has done nothing to keep them in check.

You are no doubt aware of how the agency has been going after honest gun dealers in recent years. Combine that with byzantine federal laws and regulations -- subject to BATF interpretation -- and it's no wonder the number of FFL holders has decreased almost 80%.

Then there was former National Guardsman David Olofson. In 2008, Olofson's loaned AR-15 malfunctioned at a range -- firing a three-round burst with a single trigger pull. The ATF could only replicate the malfunction after experimenting with different types of ammunition behind closed doors. Having achieved the result they wanted, the ATF labeled Olofson's gun a machine gun, and he was sentenced to three years in prison for an illegal "transfer."

The agency also put millions of gun owners in its crosshairs when it reclassified shotguns that are equipped with pistol grips. By decreeing in 2009 that such firearms are not "shotguns," the ATF acted as a de facto legislative-making body... quietly turning millions of gun owners into potential criminals overnight.

If the weapons are not "shotguns," then what are they? The NFA Owners Association suggests the only logical alternative is that such firearms are now "destructive devices" -- in the same category as grenade launchers, which require owners to register their weapons and pay a $200 tax.

Of course, failure to register such weapons and pay the required tax would result in the same treatment that David Olofson received.

One Senator on Capitol Hill is looking into the agency's contemptible practices and asking pointed questions of ATF Acting Director Ken Melson.

In late January, Senator Charles Grassley (R-AL) questioned Melson about abuses stemming from Project Gunrunner, a program the ATF started in 2005 to stop US guns from getting into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. In order to track illegal gun running, the ATF engages in (and approves of) illegal gun purchases made at gun shows and stores throughout the southwest.

The word is starting to leak out that the ATF has its fingerprints on many of the strawman sales that are grabbing so many headlines. On January 30, newspaper headlines in El Paso, Texas, stated that: "US agency intentionally permits arms to be trafficked into Mexico."

So the ATF is actually helping to move illegal guns across the border. To make matters worse, says Sen. Grassley, one of the sales the ATF sanctioned went to suspected straw purchasers who later shot and killed Customs and Border Protection agent Brian Terry.

But when Sen. Grassley asked the ATF head for an accounting, the agency instead cracked down on the internal "whistleblowers" who supplied him with the information.

Imagine that... if the agency is willing to put the squeeze on its own agents, what are they willing to do to the rest of the population?

This lack of integrity on the part of ATF management is reminiscent of a 1993 60 Minutes feature story. In it, ATF agent Bob Hoffman stunned interviewer Mike Wallace by saying that "the people I put in jail have more honor than the top administration in this organization."

For over three decades, the ATF has had a record of abuse -- not only in its treatment of the few honest agents that work there, but also in their treatment of law-abiding gun owners. Even as far back as 1982, the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution found that 75 percent of ATF gun prosecutions were aimed at ordinary citizens who had "neither criminal intent nor knowledge," but were "enticed by agents" into unknowing technical violations.

ACTION: Ask your Representative to urge the Chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee to hold hearings on the ATF. This agency needs to be on top of the Chairman's list of government abuses to investigate. You can click on the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center to send your Representative a pre-written message.

Washington, DC (9 February 2011) – American Life League is urging the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to dissolve its relationship with the Catholic Health Association, following a series of reports linking CHA to support for abortion.

American Life League cited the following reasons for the USCCB to end its ties with CHA:

• CHA fully endorsed pro-abortion Obamacare, in direct opposition to the U.S. bishops
• CHA member Catholic Healthcare West gives millions of dollars to pro-abortion, pro-same-sex marriage organizations
• CHA’s recent Chairman of the Board was a “co-architect” in the creation of Healthy San Francisco, which covers birth control and abortion on demand
• CHA president, Sr. Carol Keehan, maintains a duplicitous position in claiming that local bishops have the authority to interpret the U.S. bishops’ ethical and religious directives (ERD), while maintaining that St. Joseph’s Hospital properly applied the ERDs in approving and performing an abortion in 2009.

“It’s clear that CHA is more interested in politics and money than maintaining Catholic teaching,” said Michael Hichborn, director of American Life League’s project, Defend the Faith.

Last month, in an online video report entitled, “Nun-Catholic Healthcare,” ALL revealed that CHA spends one fourth of its annual budget to pay its six highest paid employees, including Sr. Keehan’s $900,000 salary.

“When one considers that the mission of the USCCB is to ‘support the ministry of bishops with an emphasis on evangelization,’ maintaining a relationship with a group like CHA can only hinder that mission,” said Hichborn.
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. RSC Update: Spending and Jobs

From the Chairman
If massive government spending truly solved the problem of unemployment, our economy would be booming. But nearly two years after President Obama signed his massive “stimulus” package into law, millions of Americans are still struggling to find work.

More spending isn’t the answer; it’s actually part of the problem. Massive deficits (three straight years of $1.3 trillion or more!) erode confidence in the private sector and create expectations of higher taxes down the road. Between reckless spending and regulations that cost many small businesses an average of $10,585 per employee every year, Washington is quite simply getting in the way of economic growth.

House Republicans are trying to get Washington out of the way. We have already voted to cut Congress’ budget and cut trillions of dollars of new spending by repealing ObamaCare. This week, we’ll begin to take a hard look at the impact federal regulations have on jobs. And next week, we will vote on legislation to reduce spending for the rest of the current fiscal year – I hope by at least $100 billion.

God Bless,

Congressman Jim Jordan
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

Catholic League News Release

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on Planned Parenthood's response to charges that it is acting unethically:

Thanks to Lila Rose, the president of Live Action, the public is learning more and more about the deeply entrenched culture of corruption that permeates Planned Parenthood. The latest videotape of Planned Parenthood employees shows how cooperative they are in offering friendly advice to persons posing as pimps and prostitutes in the Bronx: the imposters were assured of confidentiality, thus enabling them to proceed with their sex-trafficking enterprise with under-age girls.

Joan Malin, the president of Planned Parenthood in New York City, is quoted in the New York Times today defending her employees. "Under New York State law, we are not required to report criminal activity." She's right about that, but she disingenuously failed to say why.

The reason why there is no mandatory reporting law in New York State (only some professions are covered) is because liberals—not the Catholic Church—have worked hard to defeat one: Family Planning Advocates, the lobbying arm of Planned Parenthood, has teamed up with the New York Civil Liberties Union and other liberal groups to kill these bills.

Why does Planned Parenthood oppose a mandatory reporting law for cases involving the sexual abuse of a minor? Because it threatens their livelihood. Their counselors learn of statutory rape cases all the time, and if they were forced to call the cops, it would hurt their business. So they just go along, in effect working as an accomplice with rapists.

And they call themselves champions of women's rights. But what rights? The right to be raped? The right of an abortion worker to kill their child? The first feminists, those who pioneered women's rights in the nineteenth century, knew that abortion allowed men to exploit women. They got it. Sadly, Planned Parenthood does not.
