What Is Happening to the American Military

The fact that our military is overstretched and undermanned is nothing new to most people. So why are so many advocating severe defense cuts, that will leave us even more vulnerable. Here is just the latest embarrassment regarding the operational status of our most modern fighters.

Meanwhile Russia and China continue to modernize and expand their military capabilities. China's first carrier is undergoing sea trials and more carriers are under construction. Russia's Sukhoi T-50 is progressing steadily and should not be overlooked. We have real threats to deal with in this world and little third world countries are not at the top of the List. It's past time for a serious reassessment of our nation's defense needs.

This Republic has a history of only getting serious about defense issues after we've been attacked. We can no longer afford to allow our politicians to gut our military and just assumed that we'll have the time to rearm. Our enemies are growing in number and strength, while we are increasingly divided and weakening.

Founding Fathers Quote

Our unalterable resolution would be to be free. They have attempted to subdue us by force, but God be praised! in vain. Their arts may be more dangerous then their arms. Let us then renounce all treaty with them upon any score but that of total separation, and under God trust our cause to our swords.

Wisconsin Democrats Hopes Crushed

National and State Democrats had believed that they would shackle Wisconsin to socialism forever. After last night it should be apparent to all that Wisconsin is on a new course. Wisconsinites want freedom, limited government and great schools. Obama and the Unions threw everything they had against us and failed. No matter how much spin the left puts on it their hopes were crushed and we still have the two Democrats we can vote out next Tuesday.

I did hear on the radio this morning that the Republicans may take it easy the rest of the year. That would be a huge mistake, they need to continue working on making Wisconsin a right to work state. They were not elected to sit on their hands, but rather to push a conservative, limited government agenda.

Statement from the Republican Party of Wisconsin on Recall Election Results

Author: Nicole.Larson

[Madison]- Stephan Thompson, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, released the following statement today:

"Voters made a clear choice to continue down the path of economic progress that Wisconsin has been on for the past seven months. The assault that was unleashed on our state by national unions and special interest groups has been defeated by the will of the taxpayers to move our state forward, and put the needs of Wisconsin families above union demands.

"The contribution Senators Kapanke and Hopper made to the progress of our state will not be forgotten; their commitment to fiscal responsibility was vital in getting our state back on the right economic track.

"Almost 40,000 jobs have been created in Wisconsin since January, a $3.6 billion budget deficit has been tackled without raising taxes, and school districts and municipalities across our state have saved millions of dollars thanks to Republican-enacted reforms. Legislative Republicans now look forward to continuing on with that momentum, and further pursuing the bold job-creation agenda that voters endorsed back in November, and again supported yesterday."

No Retreat

Staying home today is not an option.  We must win all six races and send a message to the Democrat Party that we will not blindly follow them down the path of socialism.  Do you really want to return to the Doyle era?  Gov. Scott Walker's policies are bringing jobs to the state of Wisconsin.  Any criticism leveled against him should be that he hasn't done enough.  Imagine how crushed the Democrat socialist would be if they lose these six senate races. Let's make it a reality and overwhelmingly turn out.  I can't vote today, but I can next week and I will be voting for Kim Simac.  More freedom for Wisconsin, not less.

Founding Fathers Quote

Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual - or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.

RSC Update: Redeem Our Credit Rating & Clear a Path for Jobs

From the Chairman

S&P's downgrade is a warning shot the whole world saw coming. And if we don’t heed this warning with serious spending reduction, additional downgrades are likely.

Tinkering around the edges won't solve the problem. Clearly, we need to try something bolder. Even the Italians, with bigger debt problems than ours, are moving to amend their constitution to require a balanced budget. It's time the U.S. did the same. We need to cut more, cap lower, and send a Balanced Budget Amendment to the states for ratification.

Americans are over-taxed and out of work, but Washington continues to spend more than it takes in while hindering American job creation and economic growth. The uncertainty caused by our debt problems has dampened our economy, but it's not the only thing holding back job creation. Our tax code needs reform to make us more competitive in the world market. We need a pro-American energy policy that makes use of the resources at our disposal. We also need regulatory relief. In July alone, the Obama administration proposed 229 new rules and finalized 379. These additions to the growing mountain of federal regulation will have an economic cost of $9.5 billion and countless jobs.

We have to get Washington out of the way to get the economy moving again. The way forward is clear -- cut spending, cut red tape, and force Washington to balance its budget.

God Bless,

Congressman Jim Jordan

Ron Paul: Super Congress A Gift to K Street

The Super Congress created by the recent debt ceiling increase deal is a typical example of something nefarious attached to a bigger bill that is rushed through Congress without giving Members ample opportunity to consider the full ramifications. This commission may turn into an early Christmas present for the well-heeled lobbyists of K Street. This is because the commission presents a huge opportunity for lobbying firms to sneak their client's pet projects and issues into whatever legislation is created by the commission. The fact that automatic cuts to defense are named if the committee deadlocks simply signals to the military industrial complex to bring their A game to the lobbying effort.

One red flag I am constantly aware of in my position as a Congressman is that highly complex and convoluted legislation frequently has dangerous provisions hidden in the fine print. Elaborate legislative packages force lawmakers to take the bad with the good, and often if they refuse, they are accused of voting against the positive provision - never mind the blatant Constitutional violations in the bill, the spending, the waste, and the unchecked expansion of government. I don't usually have to read too much of a bill like that before encountering something unconstitutional, or simply unwise. Then I have to vote no. [read more]

Palestinians planning new wave of violence, warns Israeli FM

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Sunday warned that the Palestinian Authority is planning to unleash a new wave of violence against Israel in conjunction with its bid for UN recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN in September.

The Palestinian leadership "is planning violence and bloodshed on a scale that has yet to have been seen here," Lieberman told reporters at the Knesset. "The more they talk about their wish to operate in the diplomatic arena, the more I see preparations for violence and bloodshed."

Lieberman said the basis for his assessment is recent efforts by the Palestinian Authority to organize massive marches on Israeli army checkpoints and on Jerusalem to coincide with the UN vote.

"You can just imagine what would happen if 30 or 40 thousand people try to forcefully enter Israel," noted Lieberman. "How are soldiers and officers supposed to react?"

It is now widely accepted that the Palestinian Authority under former leader Yasser Arafat was behind the start of the "Second Intifada" or "Oslo War," a terrorist uprising against Israel that lasted from the summer of 2000 until it largely fizzled out in 2007.

While it would seem counterproductive for the Palestinians to mar their diplomatic efforts with outbreaks of violence, that strategy has served them well until now.

Every outbreak of Palestinian violence to date has only increased international pressure on Israel to meet Palestinian demands, while carrying little or no diplomatic consequences for the Palestinians.
