Wisdom From Ron Paul

“Failure of government programs prompts more determined effort, while the loss of liberty is ignored or rationalized away…whether is it is the war on poverty, drugs, terrorism…or the current Hitler of the day, an appeal to patriotism is used to convince the people that a little sacrifice of liberty, here or there, is a small price to pay…The results, though, are frightening and will soon become even more so.”

South Carolina's Turn

Today you get to put your stamp of approval on one candidate instead of continuing the politics-as-usual approach.  I pray that you will support the only consistent candidate on the ballot, Ron Paul.  He is the only one who strongly supports the Constitution and our God given liberties.

He is also the only veteran running.  That is important to me.  Our commander in chief should have some idea of what military life is and the sacrifices his decisions will cause the members of our armed forces, and their families, to endure.  The media may not talk about it very much, but we are still losing our bravest in a fool hardy attempt to bring democracy and modern civilization to Afghanistan.  Vote for Ron Paul and encourage your family and friends to vote for his as well.

Ron Paul’s Long-Ball Strategy in Minnesota

Ron Paul’s Long-Ball Strategy in Minnesota: The latest step in Rep. Ron Paul’s long-ball, 50-state strategy looks like an animated semi-truck, honking and barreling through Minnesota’s TV airwaves. Paul’s campaign today announced a “substantial” purchase of airtime in the mostly ignored caucus state of Minnesota, the site of Paul’s 2008 counter-convention...

Ron Paul Campaign Announces Substantial TV Ad Buy in Nevada and Minnesota

Energetic ‘Big Dog’ ad featuring ‘Plan to Restore America’ provisions to air in key early voting states

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign will begin running its celebrated television ad ‘Big Dog’ in the key early voting states of Nevada and Minnesota.

The ad buy is substantial in size, and it is part of the campaign’s delegate strategy to secure the Republican nomination for the presidency. The campaign will air the ads on broadcast and cable television in both states.

This is the fourth time the campaign has purchased ads in Nevada, and the first time it has done so in Minnesota. With respect to Nevada, the campaign announced ad buys for ‘Secure,’ ‘Life,’ and the combined ‘Plan’ and ‘Consistent’ buy on October 7th, 14th, and 20th, respectively.

The 30-second spot ‘Big Dog’ contrasts establishment Republican candidates unwilling to make difficult choices on spending cuts and debt reduction with the sole candidate whose bite on such matters equals his bark: Ron Paul. The ad informs viewers about major provisions of Ron Paul’s “Plan to Restore America” including his proposals to cut $1 trillion from the federal budget in year one, balance the federal budget in year three, and eliminate the Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, and Interior.

“Running ads in the key early voting states of Nevada and Minnesota is part of our delegate strategy to secure the Republican nomination. Both states present opportunities for a strong top-three showing in their upcoming caucuses,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton, referring to the February 4th nominating contest in Nevada and the February 7th one in Minnesota.

“Ours is the only campaign with the resources, organization, and stamina to defeat establishment candidate Mitt Romney in a 50-state race,” said Mr. Benton.

Ron Paul Endorsed by Louisiana State Rep. Joel Robideaux and Fmr. LAGOP Deputy Chair Charlie Davis

Ron Paul Endorsed by Louisiana State Rep. Joel Robideaux and Fmr. LAGOP Deputy Chair Charlie Davis

Rep. Robideaux and Davis to serve as state co-chairs of the Ron Paul 2012 campaign in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was endorsed today by Louisiana State Representative Joel Robideaux (R-Lafayette) and former Deputy Chairman of the Louisiana State GOP Charlie Davis.

Rep. Robideaux and Mr. Davis will serve as Louisiana co-chairs for the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign. In making his endorsement and assuming campaign co-chair responsibility for Louisiana, Rep. Robideaux offered the following statement:

“Ron Paul is the only Republican running for President who has the credibility to actually follow through on his commitment to stop the runaway train of federal bureaucracy and spending.

“None of the other Republican candidates have offered a plan to make any meaningful cuts in federal spending. In fact, the other candidates only seem interested in wearing the conductor’s hat and tooting the horn a few times as the train goes over the cliff.

“Only Dr. Paul has actually offered a plan to cut spending in real terms rather than just trimming the planned increases. Dr. Paul has proven he has no interest in wearing the conductor’s hat or tooting the horn. He is only interested in pulling hard on the brake to keep the train from going over the cliff and taking all of us down with it.

“As a CPA, and Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee with responsibility for taxation and revenue, Dr. Paul is the only candidate I trust to deal with this immense problem and restore fiscal sanity to America’s budget process. Only Dr. Paul has consistently proven his commitment to limited government and less spending over the last 35 years.”

A former Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Louisiana, Charlie Davis has held many positions in the Party since 1995, and was recently elected unopposed to a new term on the Republican State Central Committee. A chief organizer of the “Pro-Life, Pro-Family” delegate slate that won the majority of the state’s 2008 Republican delegates, he also served as a delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention and was a member of the 2008 Electoral College.

Mr. Davis also currently serves on the board of the Louisiana Family Forum and is married to Ellen Wray Davis with one son and two daughters. Mrs. Davis is former Political Director of GOPAC, former Executive Director of the Republican Party of Louisiana, and 2008 Republican National Convention delegate.

“Ron Paul best addresses the core problems that face America—the bloated federal bureaucracy, an ever-growing national debt, and a systemic loss of personal liberties that are threatening the very foundation of our Republic,” said Mr. Davis in his endorsement as he joined Rep. Robideaux for the Louisiana campaign co-chairmanship.

Ron Paul 2012 campaign Louisiana State Director Pete Chamberlain welcomed the endorsements as well as the intensity the co-chair structure will bring to the Bayou State effort.

“We are excited to announce Charlie Davis’ and Rep. Joel Robideaux’ leadership in the Louisiana campaign. The support of such highly esteemed Republican leaders, both of whom are on the vanguard of the conservative movement in Louisiana, speaks highly of the work already in progress and forthcoming efforts. It’s clear that the Ron Paul campaign is building the momentum and organization it will take to win Louisiana,” said Mr. Chamberlain.

Catholic League News Release

FOR RELIGIOUS AND CIVIL RIGHTS

OBAMA’S CONTEMPT FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

January 20, 2012
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on today’s announcement from the Obama administration that it is going forward with its original “Obamacare” policy that mandates coverage of sterilization and contraceptive services in most healthcare plans:

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius said today that aside from houses of worship, all other religious agencies and organizations will be required to provide sterilization and contraceptive services, including abortifacients, in their employee healthcare plans; none will be allowed to charge co-pays or deductibles. The policy goes into effect in August 2013 for these entities; all others will be required to provide these services in August 2012.

Sebelius explained how her directive applies to non-church religious entities such as Catholic hospitals and universities: “Employers wishing to take advantage of the additional year must certify that they qualify for the delayed implementation. This additional year will allow these organizations more time and flexibility to adapt to this new rule.” She also said, “I believe this proposal strikes the appropriate balance between religious freedom and increasing access to important preventive services.”

The language is Orwellian. With stunning magnanimity, Sebelius tells Catholic non-profits that they can take advantage of their one-year reprieve as long as they seek the blessings of the federal government. If they pass muster with the bureaucrats, then they have time to figure out how they can prostitute their religiously ground convictions, or prepare for bankruptcy. To top things off, after shoving the radical secular agenda down the throat of Catholics—and other people of faith who share their concerns—Sebelius congratulates the Obama administration for striking a “balance” between religious liberty and Obamacare. But, of course, no balance was struck: the edict grants nothing to those who believe in religious liberty, and she knows it.

That this dictatorial edict is being announced in an election year indicates both contempt for the First Amendment and plain stupidity.

E-Update from the Desk of Governor Walker

E-update from the Desk of Governor Scott Walker

One of the most important duties I have serving as your Governor is to provide you directly with updates related to the operation of our state government. In an effort to improve communication, periodically I will be sending out an e-update to provide you with more information about what is going on in state government. Please feel free to share this update with your family, friends, and others who may be interested in state government operations.

Moving Jobs and Headquarters to Wisconsin
I campaigned for office with the goal of helping the private sector create 250,000 new jobs by 2015. Over the 3 years before I took office Wisconsin saw net private sector job losses totaling 150,000. In 2011 we were able to turn that trend around and help create thousands of new jobs. This week I was pleased to announce that Kestrel Aircraft Company is moving their manufacturing and headquarters to Superior.

This relocation will be a huge boost to the Superior area specifically, and will help Wisconsin’s overall economy. I was pleased we could collaborate with the local community to bring the company to Superior.

Two state agencies, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, partnered with local officials to bring Kestrel’s expansion to Superior.

Kestrel isn’t the first business to move their headquarters to Wisconsin. Last year, FatWallet, a company that was voted “One of the 50 Best Small and Medium Companies to Work for in America” by Great Places To Work® moved to Wisconsin after Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch cold-called their CEO and told him about the advantages of doing business in Wisconsin. Additionally, Catalyst Exhibits moved across our southern border into Pleasant Prairie after Illinois increased taxes on businesses.

Even with these announcements, we still have a lot of work to do to get our economy back on track. I am optimistic that we have built the foundation for success in Wisconsin—a financially sound state budget and pro-growth attitude in government. Working together we can put our state on a path to prosperity.

Property Taxes

Late last year, the Department of Public Instruction released information showing that for the first time in 6 years the school portion of the property tax levy will decrease across the state on average. Building off of this information, the non-partisan Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance (WISTAX) recently released a study that shows when all of the individual items that compose property taxes are combined, statewide taxes went up just 0.3%—the smallest increase in 15 years.

According to WISTAX, “The tax hike is small this year principally because the school levy, the single largest part of a typical tax bill, dropped 1.0%. Tightened state-imposed revenue limits were the main cause.”

Property tax data from WISTAX shows:
· increases averaged 7.9% annually from 1986 to 1996;
· 4.9% average increase each year from 1996 to 2009;
· an increase of 4.2% in 2010;
· 2.7% increase in 2011; and
· an estimated 0.3% increase in 2012.

We are on the right track to protect property tax payers.

Supporting Additional Education Reforms

This week I announced my support for a package of education reforms that will be based on the work of three separate bipartisan taskforces. Every child deserves access to a great education. This reform package will improve accountability in our school system, improve teacher training, and lay the foundation for our children to succeed.

Read to Lead—The work done by this group will improve Wisconsin’s long-stagnant reading achievement scores. The taskforce was comprised of reading teachers, researchers, advocates, Legislators from both parties, and others.

Educator Effectiveness—This taskforce is aimed at creating a fair and rigorous system for evaluating teachers and principals. It was comprised of representation from Superintendent Tony Evers, my office, teacher unions, school boards, school administrators, and others.

School Accountability—This taskforce was convened last summer to design an alternative to No Child Left Behind that focuses on setting high standards, requiring transparency, and measuring what matters to ensure all students are ready for college or career.

Improving our schools, measuring student achievement growth, and increasing accountability and transparency in education will help ensure Wisconsin students can succeed. While members of the working groups deserve credit for their recommendations, our work is not yet done. I encourage parents, teachers, school board members, and all community leaders to help implement reforms to give students access to an even better education.

More information about the legislation can be found by clicking here.
Just Ask the Governor: Part II

Each e-update I will answer a question submitted by a recipient of the previous e-update or from someone who contacts my office directly.

Question: You said property taxes went down, but mine went up. How can that happen?

Answer: Upon taking office as Governor, I sought to control property taxes while addressing a $3.6 billion state budget deficit. I did both by instituting reforms that gave local governments the tools to keep property taxes in check while also continuing needed services. Without the property tax controls and reforms in my budget, estimates show that median value homeowners would have seen their property taxes rise by $710 over the next two years.

The results of my reforms are now being seen. School tax levies dropped for the first time in six years while keeping our average classroom size lower than the national average.

Individual property tax bills may vary from these results. School, county, municipal, technical college and state taxes are all included in your tax bill. The taxes levied by these governments depend on decisions made by various governing boards. State aids, levy controls, and property values also play a role.

For example, if a school district recently passed a referendum to exceed levy limits imposed by the state, taxes may have gone up in that district. Another example could be that a city may have borrowed money and they are now paying that debt back through the levy. These situations exist due to local decisions that are best explained on a case by case basis by talking to your local elected officials, municipal clerk, and/or assessor.

It has been a pleasure communicating with you. It is an honor to serve as your Governor and represent the residents of Wisconsin.

Sincerely,

Governor Scott Walker

Liberty is a word which, according as it is used, comprehends the most good and the most evil of any in the world. Justly understood it is sacred next to those which we appropriate in divine adoration; but in the mouths of some it means anything, which enervate a necessary government; excite a jealousy of the rulers who are our own choice, and keep society in confusion for want of a power sufficiently concentered to promote good.

In Case You Missed It: Ron Paul Announces Ambitious ‘Plan to Restore America’

Realistic solutions to spending, tax challenges

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign announced the release of Dr. Paul’s “Plan to Restore America,” an ambitious federal government spending, tax and reform blueprint that as President he will implement.

The plan, authored by Paul’s campaign staff at his direction, promises to restore the federal government to its former Constitutionally-limited, smaller-government and less-burdensome place. The plan cuts $1 trillion in federal spending during the first year of a Paul Presidency and delivers a balanced budget in year three of a Paul Presidency.

“Ron Paul’s plan is the only one that seriously addresses the economic and budgetary problems our nation faces. It cuts $1 trillion in one year, and slashes regulations and taxes so our economy can grow and create jobs,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton, a plan co-author.

“It’s the only plan offered by a presidential candidate that actually balances the budget and begins to pay down the debt. And it’s the only plan being offered that tries to reign in the Federal Reserve and get inflation under control.”

Cuts totaling $1 trillion during the first year of a Paul Presidency would be achieved by eliminating five federal cabinet departments – the Departments of Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Interior and Education. Cuts of this scale will also be accomplished by a Paul Presidency abolishing the Transportation Security Administration and returning responsibility for security to private property owners, abolishing corporate subsidies, stopping foreign aid, ending foreign wars, and returning most other spending to 2006 levels.

It is Time For The Republican Party To Repent From Its Ron Paul Bashing

It is very clear that the Republican Party has no chance of winning against Obama, unless they stop mocking Ron Paul's limited government approach and his supporters. It is just pure arrogance to think that you can trash voters who want to reign in the fed, big government, and unsustainable spending and remain a viable party. Here is a great article, by Michael Tanner, talking about the Republicans' need to reach out to Ron Paul and his supporters.

McConnell Statement: President Claims Keystone XL Jobs, Energy Security, Not in the National Interest

For Immediate Release, January 18, 2012

President Claims Keystone XL Jobs, Energy Security, Not in the National Interest

‘Since when is the creation of thousands of jobs not in the national interest as the President now claims? His decision to block the development of the Keystone XL pipeline, thousands of jobs, and increased energy security is stunning.’

Washington, D.C.– U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell issued the following statement today regarding the President’s rejection of the job-creating Keystone XL pipeline:

“Since when is the creation of thousands of jobs not in the national interest as the President now claims? His decision to block the development of the Keystone XL pipeline, thousands of jobs, and increased energy security is stunning. His decision shows a fundamental disconnect with job creation in this country, and sadly, that his focus is on appealing to his liberal environmental base rather than taking steps that can lead to thousands of jobs and energy security for our nation.”

####

Background:

·    The President’s own Jobs Council issued a report Tuesday calling for construction of new pipelines for American energy, saying that such projects would provide vital economic and energy security.

·     While the President claims to object to these jobs because of decisions yet to be made in Nebraska, the decision on the permit is solely on whether or not the pipeline can cross the U.S.-Canadian border—not about the route it will take after it crosses that border.

  · According to the law (see relevant excerpt below) that President Obama signed in December, the decision to reject these jobs and greater American energy security, is his alone—the State Department can’t make the decision.
(b) Exception-

(1) IN GENERAL- The President shall not be required to grant the permit under subsection (a) if the President determines that the Keystone XL pipeline would not serve the national interest.

(2) REPORT- If the President determines that the Keystone XL pipeline is not in the national interest under paragraph (1), the President shall, not later than 15 days after the date of the determination, submit to the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate, the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives, the majority leader of the Senate, the minority leader of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the minority leader of the House of Representatives a report that provides a justification for determination, including consideration of economic, employment, energy security, foreign policy, trade, and environmental factors.

(3) EFFECT OF NO FINDING OR ACTION- If a determination is not made under paragraph (1) and no action is taken by the President under subsection (a) not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline described in subsection (a) that meets the requirements of subsections (c) and (d) shall be in effect by operation of law.

GOA Alert: Senate Moves on Bill to "Muzzle the Web"

Gun Owners of America

Senate Moves on Bill to “Muzzle the Web”

Legislation could potentially shut down gun websites
By now, you are no doubt aware that several websites have either gone totally or partially “dark” today in protest of the pernicious internet legislation that will be coming to a vote next week. Wikipedia and Google are just two of the websites which are protesting in this manner.

And while you may have not paid much attention to this story, you need to know that the “muzzle the web” legislation these sites are protesting could also affect your ability to get gun-related information on websites like GOA’s.

The reason is that S. 968 could, in its final form, allow the Brady Campaign to partially shut down our GOA website and our organization (plus many other pro-gun websites) with a series of factually accurate, but legally frivolous complaints.

The Senate bill and its House counterpart have accurately been called “a direct attack on the underpinnings of the web.”

True, many of the most serious “gun problems” are in the House counterpart. But the reality is this: We are within a few votes of killing the whole concept next week in the Senate with only 41 Senate votes.

But if we allow the so-called “anti-piracy” bill to go forward on the HOPE that the worst provisions will not make it into the final version -– and we fail to eliminate them -– the bill may be unstoppable.

Here are the “gun problems,” as we see them:

Section 103(b)(1) of H.R. 3261 allows any “holder of an intellectual property right” to demand that PayPal and other payment and advertising services stop providing services to organizations like ours, thereby shutting off our income.

How would they do this? Perhaps by arguing that we were stealing their intellectual property by quoting their lying misrepresentations in our alerts.

Is this legally frivolous? Sure it is. But the Brady Campaign is the King of Frivolous Complaints:

* Remember when the Brady Campaign asked the Federal Election Commission in 2007 to shut down GOA’s ability to post its candidate ratings on the Internet? They claimed that we were in violation of the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Act. Thankfully, the FEC ruled in GOA’s favor, thus enabling us to continue posting candidate ratings without restraint.

* Remember when the Brady Campaign got 36 state and local jurisdictions to bring frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers –- not in the expectation of winning, but to drain the resources of the manufacturers in order to halt the manufacture of guns in America?

This “muzzle the web” legislation will throw the doors open to even more frivolous complaints. Could we defend ourselves? Yes, we could. We could file a counter notification under section 103(b)(5) and spend years defending ourselves. But the one thing we did learn during the 36 frivolous lawsuits is that the anti-gun forces in America have very deep pockets.

And the other problem is that, under section 104, our Internet providers would be insulated from liability for shutting us down. But they would receive no comparable insulation from legal liability if they refused to cut us off.

The Senate version, S. 968, has been amended, at the behest of Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley and others, to provide many protections which were not in its initial form.

Under section 3, the Attorney General would go to court and would have to claim that, because of a hyperlink to an offending site, we were “primarily” engaged in the theft of intellectual property.

We would feel a lot better about these protections if the Attorney General were not Eric Holder, a ruthless ideologue who has demonstrated that he will go to any lengths to destroy the Second Amendment.

So the bottom line is this: H.R. 3261 and S. 968
would potentially empower the Brady Campaign and Eric Holder to go after our Internet site. To do so, they would have to make the same frivolous arguments and engage in the same lawless activity that they have done so often in the past.

But -– given that we’re within a few votes of snuffing out that risk by killing the bill in the Senate -– we believe it’s the better course of action to do so.

RSC Update: In 2012, Our Vision Must Be Crystal Clear

From the Chairman

The November 2010 elections sent an influx of conservatives to Congress with a genuine desire to solve our country’s biggest challenges. But make no mistake, the troubles Americans have faced in recent years have not yet been conquered.

Millions remain unable to find a job. Washington continues to spend and borrow way too much. ObamaCare puts unconstitutional demands on citizens even as health care costs keep going up. The structural weaknesses that endanger Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security have not yet been fixed.

Conservatives spent the past year confronting these challenges head on. The Republican Study Committee proposed the Jobs Through Growth Act to grow our economy with less red tape, more energy production, and a simpler, flatter tax code. We voted to repeal ObamaCare and worked toward lowering costs through greater choice and competition.

Our Cut, Cap, and Balance plan would have finally forced Washington to live within its means. And our budget attempted to strengthen Medicare & Social Security while giving States the flexibility they need in Medicaid to prevent it from breaking the bank.

Through it all, we hoped the Democrats controlling the Senate and White House were willing to work with us in the interest of country. Unfortunately, the President spent the past year trying to boost his own chances for reelection by avoiding real cooperation. It is a cynical strategy, and Senate Democrats happily played along.

So far, all signs point to more of the same in 2012. So where does that leave us? I agree with Senator Ron Johnson. Our only choice is to continue providing Americans an unambiguous contrast between the liberal and conservative visions for our nation’s future.

It must be crystal clear who supports government growth vs. private sector growth.

It must be crystal clear who lives in a fairy tale world with no limits on spending and debt vs. the real world where families, businesses, and governments must seek to live within their means.

It must be crystal clear who puts their faith in government mandates and venture socialism vs. liberty and free enterprise.

The conservatives in the Republican Study Committee will not waver. We will continue to defend the cause of liberty and seek out real solutions to the challenges at hand. We will because we must.

God Bless,

Congressman Jim Jordan
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

Poll: Half of Palestinians will never recognize Israel

Article courtesy of Israel Today magazine, www.israeltoday.co.il.

Thursday, January 12, 2012 | Ryan Jones

A poll conducted last month shows that nearly half of all Palestinians will never recognize Israel's right to exist as the national homeland of the Jewish people, even if a comprehensive peace agreement that meets all Arab demands is achieved.

Conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, the poll asked:

"There is a proposal that after the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the settlement of all issues in dispute, including the refugees and Jerusalem issues, there will be a mutual recognition of Israel as the state of the Jewish people and Palestine as the state of the Palestinians people. Do you agree or disagree to this proposal?"

While just over 50 percent said they would agree to such an outcome, 46.8 percent said they will never recognize Israel under those terms.

The results of the poll demonstrate the effects of over a decade of Palestinian Authority school education and media propaganda that has portrayed Israel as an usurper and the Jews as foreign invaders. It is only natural that those most fully indoctrinated by this education and media propaganda would never be able to view Israel as anything but an enemy, even with a full peace treaty.

That is precisely the reason that the original "Oslo Accords" stipulated that both sides must educate their people for peace and coexistence. The Palestinian Authority has instead used millions of dollars in foreign aid to do the opposite, as revealed time and again by organizations like Palestinian Media Watch.

But since a comprehensive peace deal is not even in sight, the poll went on to ask participants what Palestinians should do in the meantime. A large 41.1 percent minority said they support a full return to armed violence against Israeli Jews. In other words, terrorism.

Ron Paul Tied with Obama and in Two-Man Race with Romney

Ron Paul Tied with Obama and in Two-Man Race with Romney

Poll highlights include Paul having notably strong support across many key voter segments

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul again polls strong against incumbent President Barack Obama in a general election matchup, according to today’s CNN/ORC Poll.

Highlights include Paul besting Obama 49 to 45 percent among persons 65 and older, a voter segment considered to be the most reliable for turnout. Paul also beats Obama among persons 50 to 64 by a 47 to 45 percent margin. Taken together, according to the poll, voters over 50 deliver Paul a clean 48 to 45 percent win over Obama.

When factoring geography and racial background, Paul also carries substantial numbers.

Versus Obama, Paul defeats him 51 to 45 percent in the Midwest, 49 to 45 percent in the South, 61 to 35 percent in rural areas, and ties him at 47 percent in suburban areas. Paul also bests all other Republican candidates among nonwhite voters when matched against Obama, again carrying a solid quarter of those votes, and defeating Obama among white voters 54 to 41 percent, and men 49 to 44 percent.

Among many segments, the numbers of other Republican hopefuls is paltry to Paul’s performance.

CNN’s Political Unit states, “…according to the poll, the president is doing better against two other presidential candidates. If Rick Santorum were the GOP nominee, Obama would hold a 51%-45% advantage over the former senator from Pennsylvania. And if Newt Gingrich faced off against the president, Obama would lead the former House speaker 52-43%.”

The hits keep coming.

Among men, Paul garners more support in the general by a larger margin over Obama than any other candidate. He undercuts Obama’s support among youth the most, winning 40 percent of the 18-34 vote, with Paul’s nearest competitor Romney coming no closer than 35 percent. Paul also garners more from those under 50 than any other Republican. Paul is also at the top – tying Romney – among persons ages 35 to 49.

Perhaps most important in the race for the White House, Paul seizes more support from independents than any other Republican, matching or defeating Obama 46 to 48 percent vis a vis the +/- 5 percent error margin.

Also notable in the survey is that 53 percent of the sample believe that Romney does not “generally agree” with them on issues they care about, and 56 percent feel that Romney is not in touch with the problems ordinary Americans face in their daily lives.

“This poll, as with all the other general election matchup polls, debunks the misconceptions about Ron Paul’s electability. His competitiveness against Obama is far beyond all but one competitor, Mitt Romney, again proving it is appropriate for all other candidates to drop out and unite behind Dr. Paul as the only viable conservative alternative to establishment Romney,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

“This is a clear two-man race and only two can beat Obama. It also begs the question, ‘Which candidate will Republicans choose, status quo Romney or the candidate of authentic change, Ron Paul?’” asked Mr. Benton.

ORC International surveyed 1,021 adult Americans from January 11th to the 12th. The error margin for this total sample is +/- 3.0 percentage points. The sample includes 928 registered voters, with the margin of error for this group also +/- 3.0 percentage points. Error margins for micro-targeting can range much higher.

USS Enterprise CV-6

The USS Enterprise CV-6 fascinated me when I began to watch episodes on Netflix about her called "Battle 360". I used to like the Air Force better than all the other Armed Forces. But at this time, I put the US Navy on top of my Armed Forces favorite list.

I am so sad that she was sold for scraps. I wish it would've been turned into a floating museum. One of my two reasons why I wanted it was a museum is because I want to join the Navy and see the inside of a real aircraft carrier and the other reason is so that I could be on one of the US Navy's best Aircraft carrier.

One of the facts is that everyone called the USS Enterprise the "the Big E" for short ( or it was her nickname, I don't know). Enterprise was the sixth aircraft carrier in the United States Navy. The Big E was ordered in 1933. Builder was  Newport News Shipbuilding. She was launched on October 3,1936.

The Big E had these honors and awards: Campaign Star, 20 Battle Stars, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, American Defense Service Medal ( "Fleet" clasp), American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal ( 20 stars), World War 2 Victory Medal, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Philippine Liberation Medal ( 1 star), and British Admiralty Pennant. She was decommissioned on 17 February 1947.

There were many attempts that were made at preserving the ship as a museum or memorial, but fund-raising efforts failed to raise enough money so they had to sell it for scraps. The USS Enterprise was scrapped from 1958 to 1960. It was the end of USS Enterprise CV-6.
