Israeli soldiers wounded on Gaza border; PA keeps inciting terror

Israeli soldiers wounded on Gaza border; PA keeps inciting terror

Palestinian gunmen operating out of the Gaza Strip shot and wounded two Israeli soldiers patrolling the border fence on Wednesday, as the Palestinian Authority kept apace with efforts to incite future generations of local Arabs to take up arms against Israel.

The two soldiers wounded in the Gaza shooting, one of them an officer, were taken to Soroka Hospital in nearby Beersheva in stable condition. Other soldiers in the unit returned fire on their attackers.

Despite regular claims that true peace is possible, the continuation of Palestinian violence against Israel is inevitable, as the Palestinian Authority has systematically violated its obligation to educate its population for peaceful coexistence. In fact, it has done the opposite.

Yet another example of the Palestinian Authority inciting not only violence, but outright terrorism against Israel occurred recently when it named a local Boy Scout troop after Dalal Mughrabi, the female Palestinian terrorist who managed to kill the most Israelis in a single attack.

Over the past few years, the Palestinian Authority has named numerous streets, town squares, schools, soccer teams and summer camps after Mughrabi, who is seen as a Palestinian hero for her 1978 hijacking of an Israeli public bus and the subsequent massacre of all 37 passengers.

"To name a Boy Scout group after her and launch two summer camps named after her...is horrifying," Palestinian Media Watch director Itamar Marcus told Israel National News. "She is presented as a role model."

Marcus, who closely monitors Palestinian violations of its peace commitments, has previously lamented that the net result is that there is little to no chance for a genuine peace with future generations of Palestinian Arabs, who have been raised on a diet of pure, unadulterated hatred for Israel and the Jews.

GOA: Ted Cruz for Senate

Gun Owners of America

GOA Supports Ted Cruz in Texas

Ted Cruz is a warrior for the Second Amendment.
Other politicians talk the talk, but Ted has led the fight to defend the individual right to keep and bear arms.
GOA is proud to endorse Ted Cruz for Senate in the Republican primary in Texas. Ted is a proven leader and a fighter who will represent gun owners not only in Texas, but also across the country.
Mr. Cruz played a leading role in winning landmark victories at the U.S. Supreme Court protecting our rights, and he’s been an outspoken critic of the Fast and Furious debacle, leading the call for Eric Holder’s resignation or impeachment.
Our gun rights are in jeopardy – President Obama is the most radical, anti-gun president in history – and we need a champion in the Senate to combat activist judicial nominees and to aggressively oppose any international, anti-gun treaties put forward by the UN.
There are problems in the Senate as well, which is why a major priority for GOA this year is to take the gavel out of the hands of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – a man who has done everything in his power to kill good gun bills and to help Obama get his radical nominees confirmed.
But we also know that it’s not enough just to elect Republicans. We need to elect people who actually have read and understand the Constitution and the role of limited government.
Ted Cruz will lead the fight to protect the Second Amendment, and every gun owner in Texas, and every lover of liberty across the country, should rally behind his campaign.
Of course, if you live in Texas, vote for Ted Cruz in the Republican primary next Tuesday, May 29.
And let’s help Ted have the resources to stay on the air right up to Election Day. Visit http://www.votetedcruz.org to make a contribution today.
Sincerely,
Tim Macy
Vice Chairman
PS -- Ted Cruz is not the kind of person who will come to Washington and join the cocktail circuit. He understands that this country is in real trouble and needs real leadership. You can go to http://www.votetedcruz.org to help Ted out with a contribution or to learn more about this race.

RSC Update: Choosing Drought in the Garden of Free Enterprise

From the Chairman

Sunday marked the kickoff of National Small Business Week, which probably explains why President Obama made a highly public visit to a Washington, D.C. sandwich shop last week. Still, one gets the feeling that the president doesn’t truly understand how the private sector works.

Imagine trying to start a new business in today’s economy. First, you deal with a sea of regulations from agencies you never even knew existed. Many are confusing, some are contradictory, and others are just downright expensive. You watch as the government borrows trillions of dollars, knowing the debt will lead to massive tax hikes, painful inflation, or both. You worry how ObamaCare will tack on new costs and disruptions as your young enterprise grows. At night, you lie awake hoping energy costs don’t shoot any higher. And every April, you pray you can afford to pay a professional to navigate our ridiculously complicated tax code.

It’s enough to discourage the most determined entrepreneurs, yet President Obama has spent his entire term in office pushing for more borrowing, more red tape, more taxes, and more control in Washington, D.C. His agenda is well designed to follow the trail blazed by Greece – a nation where some 80,000 businesses closed last year, almost 1 in 4 are unemployed, and people have few incentives to work hard and play by the rules.

The Greeks chose to spend, subsidize, borrow, and regulate their economy into the ground. Their decisions created a manmade drought in the garden of free enterprise. We now have the same choice to make. The good news is that when Americans set our minds to it, no one in the world can grow an economy better than we can.

God Bless,

Congressman Jim Jordan
Chairman, Republican Study Committee

Catholic League News Release

FOR RELIGIOUS AND CIVIL RIGHTS

CATHOLIC REBELLION HAS BEGUN

May 21, 2012
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on lawsuits filed today against the Obama administration. At issue is the constitutionality of the Health and Human Services edict seeking to force Catholic non-profits to pay for abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptive services and sterilization in their insurance plans:

This is a great day for those who believe in religious liberty. Suing the Obama administration for seeking to trash the First Amendment rights of Catholics are 43 Catholic dioceses and institutions from all over the nation.

Among those filing suit are: the Archdiocese of New York; the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.; the Archdiocese of St. Louis; the Diocese of Rockville Centre; the Diocese of Dallas; the Diocese of Fort Worth; the Diocese of Pittsburgh; the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend; the Michigan Catholic Conference (which represents all seven dioceses in the state); Catholic University of America; Franciscan University of Steubenville; and the University of Notre Dame. Entities ranging from retirement homes to publishing houses joined the lawsuits.

There will be more. And depending on how the U.S. Supreme Court rules next month on the constitutionality of ObamaCare, this may just be the beginning.

Catholics are sending an unmistakable sign to President Obama, Kathleen Sebelius, et al. that we will not be obedient. We will not do as we are told. Instead, we will do what is just. The Catholic rebellion has begun.

McConnell Statement on Jaczko Resignation as Chairman of the NRC

McConnell Statement on Jaczko Resignation as Chairman of the NRC

‘The only thing surprising about his resignation is the fact that the Obama administration has remained silent for more than a year after allegations of Jaczko’s offensive behavior surfaced.’

Washington, D.C.– U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell released the following statement today in which he welcomed the resignation of Dr. Gregory Jaczko as chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission:

“Dr. Jaczko’s troubling behavior as chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission had clearly resulted in a hostile work environment for women that ran counter to acceptable norms of workplace equality and that threatened to undermine the mission of the NRC itself. The only thing surprising about his resignation is the fact that the Obama administration has remained silent for more than a year after allegations of Jaczko’s offensive behavior surfaced. Even Democrat commissioners said that Jaczko bullied employees and intimidated female workers as chairman of the commission. Clearly, there’s no room for this kind of behavior from any public official, and the head of a critical agency that is charged with ensuring the safety of our nation’s nuclear power plants is no exception. I call on the White House to move forward with a replacement for Jaczko and urge the Senate to reconfirm the nomination of Kristine Svinicki as an NRC commissioner before her term expires on June 30. Commissioner Svinicki was confirmed to her current term without a single dissenting vote. As one of the world’s leading experts on nuclear safety, she has served with distinction as a commissioner, and deserves a speedy reconfirmation. The 4,000 career employees at the NRC rely on her leadership and the American people need her expertise on the commission. The public is best-served by a commission that is fully functional.”

Click here to read a recent speech Sen. McConnell gave on the need to reconfirm Kristine Svinicki as an NRC commissioner before her current term expires next month.
