Tommy Thompson Goes 3-for-3, Sweeps Senate Debates
While Thompson Stands on His Record, Baldwin Continues to Run from Hers
Madison, WI - Former Governor Tommy Thompson released the following statement tonight after winning the third and final of three United States Senate debates.

"After three debates, it could not be clearer: Tammy Baldwin is too extreme for Wisconsin families," said Thompson. "Just as she has done since the beginning of this race, Tammy Baldwin ran from her liberal record tonight.

“From her decision to politicize a vote honoring the victims of 9/11 to her desperate attempt to walk back 14 years of support for a single-payer system, my opponent is doing everything she can to cover up her liberal record. She doesn’t want Wisconsin families to know that she voted to raise taxes on each family by $3,000 or that she supported regulations that will kill jobs right here in our great state.

"While Tammy Baldwin has been trying to run from her record, I am proud to stand on mine. Working with the private sector, we created more than 740,000 jobs, cut taxes 91 times, and introduced bold reforms that were adopted nationally. Together, we turned Wisconsin into an economic powerhouse. Wisconsin families know they can trust me to do it again, because I have a plan to restore America by creating a competitive business environment, expanding energy opportunities and lowering taxes. I am proud of the work we did when I was governor and I know there is a lot more to do in the United States Senate."

In Final U.S. Senate Debate, Which Tammy Baldwin
Will Show Up?

# 1 Ranked Liberal in Congress or Dishonest Candidate
Madison, WI – Former Governor Tommy Thompson will square off against Madison liberal Tammy Baldwin in the last of three debates in the U.S. Senate race tonight. But one question will be at the forefront of viewers’ minds: Which Tammy Baldwin will show up?

Since Baldwin announced she was running for the United States Senate she has been distancing herself from her extremely liberal record and lying to Wisconsin voters to cover it up. However, in recent weeks Baldwin has been forced to own up to her record and has been caught in a web of lies trying to explain her difficult to defend votes. Now, two weeks out from Election Day, Wisconsin voters are finally seeing the real Tammy Baldwin.

Just yesterday, Baldwin was caught red-handed trying to walk back her 14-year support for a complete government takeover of health care. Baldwin even stated that the very issue that has defined her career in Congress was now “irrelevant” and that the “debates of a decade ago or even more recently,” don’t matter. Sadly for Baldwin, they do matter to the families she has been lying to this entire time.

“Madison liberal Tammy Baldwin has been running from her extreme record this entire election,” said spokeswoman Lisa Boothe. “Now, two weeks out from Election Day, Baldwin has finally been caught in her web of lies. Over the past two weeks, Baldwin has been confronted with the outrageous votes she has taken. From her decision to politicize a vote over honoring the victims of September 11 to her desperate attempt to walk back 14 years of support for a single-payer system, Baldwin’s liberal record has finally been exposed. With the final debate tonight, Wisconsin voters are wondering which Tammy Baldwin will show up: the liberal Congresswoman or the dishonest candidate. Wisconsin voters will be watching.”

The Facts:

9/11

Dishonest Candidate Says: “The idea that anybody would question my commitment to going after the terrorists, honoring the victims and their families, supporting the first responders, is outrageous.” (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 10/24/12)

Liberal Congresswoman Does: Baldwin Voted Against A House Resolution Commemorating The Fifth Anniversary Of The September 11, 2001 Attacks. “Adoption of the resolution that would express the sense of the House recognizing Sept. 11 as a day to remember those who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks, extend sympathies to their loved ones and honor those who aided the victims and risked their lives following the attacks.” (H. Res. 994, CQ Vote #440: Adopted by a vote of 395-22: R 226-1; D 168-21; I 1-0, 9/13/06, Baldwin Voted Nay)
  • Baldwin Was One Of Only Twenty-Two Member of The House To Vote Against The Resolution Commemorating The Fifth Anniversary Of 9/11. “Madison’s Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin was one of only 22 members of the House of Representatives who voted against a resolution to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.” (“Baldwin Rejects 9/11 Tribute,” The Capital Times, 9/14/06
Iranian Sanctions
Dishonest Candidate Says: “I take the threat of a nuclear Iran very seriously. I agree with the President’s policy which says every option is on the table but that starts with increasingly tough sanctions.” (Rep. Tammy Baldwin, Milwaukee Press Club Newsmakers, 10/05/12)
Liberal Congresswoman Does: Congresswoman Baldwin continually demonstrated her weak stance on Iran by voting against sanctions.
  • PolitiFact Gives Baldwin A Full Flop On Iran Sanctions Votes. All of our experts, whose views on sanctions vary, agreed that it was inconsistent to vote in favor of tougher sanctions in 2012, and was not a logical policy evolution based on the specifics of the bill. Was it based on the changing political landscape, the heightening of tensions, the electoral calculus of the Senate race? All of the above? Something else? Whatever the reasons, this amounted to a major reversal of position. That’s a Full Flop on our meter.” (“After votes against major Iran sanction bills, Baldwin has voted in favor,” PolitiFact Wisconsin)
  • Baldwin Was 1 Of Only 6 Democrats To Vote Against The Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, And Divestment Act Of 2010. "Berman, D-Calif., motion to suspend the rules and adopt the conference report on the bill that would impose new sanctions on companies doing business with Iran. It would expand the list of available sanctions for the president to impose on companies that engage in certain trade with Iran relating to petroleum and gasoline production and refinement. It would cut off international financial institutions from the U.S. banking system if they do business with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or facilitate Tehran's efforts to acquire weapons of mass destruction. The measure would require the administration to investigate and issue findings on possible violations, but also give the president the ability to waive many of the provisions if doing so is necessary to the national interest." (H.R. 2194, CQ Vote #394: Motion agreed to (thus clearing the measure for the president), by a vote of 408-8: D 241-6; R 167-2, 6/24/10, Baldwin Voted Nay)
  • Baldwin Was 1 Of Only 9 Democrats to Vote Against The Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act of 2009. "Berman, D-Calif., motion to suspend the rules and pass the bill that would impose sanctions against companies that supply Iran with, or support its domestic production of, gasoline and other refined-petroleum products." (H.R. 2194, CQ Vote #975: Motion agreed to a vote of 412-12: D 241-9; R 171-3, 12/15/09, Baldwin Voted Nay)
Defending Israel and the Holocaust

Dishonest Candidate Says: “We must all recognize, as I do, that Israel is our most important friend and ally in the world, but certainly in the Middle East.” (Rep. Tammy Baldwin, Conversation With The Candidates, 10/14/12)

Liberal Congresswoman Does: Baldwin Voted Present On A Resolution Condemning Statements from Ahmadinejad:
  • Baldwin Voted "Present" On A Resolution Condemning Ahmadinejad's Statements Denying The Holocaust And Advocating The Destruction Of Israel. "Watson, D-Calif., motion to suspend the rules and adopt the concurrent resolution that would call on the U.N. Security Council to charge Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with violating the 1948 Genocide Convention, call on the Security Council and U.N. member states to consider ways to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear
Single Payer

Dishonest Candidate Says: "We have a bill (the Affordable Care Act) that was passed. I worked on it. I voted for it. That's what our task is going forward. It doesn't matter the debates of a decade ago or even more recently. We have passed a bill. I voted for it and now we need to put it to work and make it work for Wisconsin." (Rep. Tammy Baldwin, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 10/25/12)

Liberal Congresswoman Does: Baldwin Co-Sponsored A Single-Payer Bill In Every Congress Since 2003
  • In 2000, Baldwin Introduced A Bill That Would Provide Health Care Coverage For All Americans. Baldwin: “During the last two years I have prioritized this issue and worked to pass a strong patient bill of rights, to get a prescription drug benefit, and ultimately I recently introduced legislation that would provide health care for all.” (ABC’s WKOW News, Wisconsin 2nd District Debate, Madison, WI, 10/21/00; H.R.4992, Health Security For All Americans Act, Introduced 7/27/00)
  • In 2000, Baldwin Said Democrats Must “Create The National Will” To Support A Single-Payer Health Care Bill. Baldwin: “It will not happen until we create the national will way to make it so. If the millions of Americans without health insurance found their political voice today and spoke as one and demanded health care for all we would have it. Help them find their voices.” (2:40, Tammy Baldwin, Democratic National Committee Convention, Los Angeles, CA, 8/15/00)
  • In 2000, Baldwin Said She Wanted To “Reignite A Debate Over Health Care For All.” Baldwin: “I believe that we have such an opportunity and one of the things that has been such an honor for me over the last two years is to try to reignite a debate over health care for all.” (ABC’s WKOW News, Wisconsin 2nd District Debate, Madison, WI, 10/21/00)
  • In The 111th Congress, Baldwin Co-Sponsored H.R. 676, The “Expanded And Improved Medicare For All Act.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
  • The Bill Would Entitle Every United States Citizen To Universal Health Care. “All individuals residing in the United States (including any territory of the United States) are covered under the USNHC Program entitling them to a universal, best quality standard of care. Each such individual shall receive a card with a unique number in the mail. An individual’s social security number shall not be used for purposes of registration under this section.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
The Bill Included Several Tax Increases.
  • “Increasing Personal Income Taxes On The Top 5 Percent Income Earners.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
  • “Instituting A Modest And Progressive Excise Tax On Payroll And Self-Employment Income.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
  • “Instituting A Small Tax On Stock And Bond Transactions.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
  • The Bill Created A 15-Member National Board Tasked With The “Establishment Of Universal, Best Quality Standard Of Care” Achieved By Appropriating Staff Levels And Medical Technology, As Well As By Implementing Best Practices. (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
  • The Bill Could Eliminate The VA After A 10 Year Transition Period. “This Act provides for health programs of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to initially remain independent for the 10-year period that begins on the date of the establishment of the USNHC Program. After such 10-year period, the Congress shall reevaluate whether such programs shall remain independent or be integrated into the USNHC Program.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
  • The Bill Also Relied On Money Taken From Existing Medicare Funding. “Notwithstanding any other provision of law, there are hereby transferred and appropriated to carry out this Act, amounts from the Treasury equivalent to the amounts the Secretary estimates would have been appropriated and expended for Federal public health care programs, including funds that would have been appropriated under the Medicare program under title XVIII of the Social Security Act, under the Medicaid program under title XIX of such Act, and under the Children’s Health Insurance Program under title XXI of such Act.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/26/09)
  • In The 110th, 109th, 108th Congresses, Baldwin Co-Sponsored H.R. 676, The “Expanded And Improved Medicare For All Act.” (H.R. 676, Introduced 1/24/07; H.R. 676, Introduced 2/8/05; H.R. 676, Introduced 2/11/03)

Police Arrest 60-Year-Old Woman Speaking At City Council Meeting « CBS Los Angeles

This is indefensible.  Arresting anyone for simply going over their allotted three minute speaking time.  Imagine how many politicians would be arrested every time their speech went too long.  I have always been a supporter of law enforcement, but things are out-of-control now.

This country needs to have a serious discussion about the militarized police-state we are becoming.  It seems these days you can be arrested, tased or shot for almost anything.

E-update From the Desk of Governor Scott Walker

E-update From the Desk of Governor Scott Walker

One of the most important duties I have serving as your Governor is to provide you directly with updates related to the operation of our state government. I also frequently provide updates on Facebook (Governor Scott Walker) and Twitter (@govwalker). Please feel free to share this update with your family, friends, and others who may be interested in state government operations.

Tragedy in Brookfield

Earlier this week, three people were killed in a terrible act of senseless violence. Our hearts go out to the victims' families and our prayers are with them and the survivors. As we move forward, we will band together as a state and a community to seek justice for the victims and comfort those left behind.

Grading Our Schools

This week, the Department of Public Instruction released the first-ever school report cards. Last year, I worked with State Superintendent Tony Evers, State Senators Olsen and Cullen, State Representatives Kestell and Pope-Roberts, and a large group of teachers, administrators, and others committed to developing a fair and transparent school report card system. Working together we developed a new tool that parents, teachers, and administrators can use to improve our schools.

As a parent of two children who have gone through and are currently attending public schools, I know we have many fantastic schools with excellent teachers—but there are still too many schools that are not performing up to expectations. We can do better. By setting high standards, tracking student growth, and making results open and transparent, we can improve underperforming schools.

The report cards released this week give parents the most accurate information available about each school’s performance.

You can access general information regarding the new school report cards by clicking here. Information about specific districts can be accessed by clicking here.

I hope you will take a look at this new resource and let me know your thoughts. Please email me (at govgeneral@wisconsin.gov) any suggestions you have to improve the report cards with the words “Report Card” in the subject line. In next week’s e-update, I will share some of the feedback received.

In the months ahead, I will continue to work with Superintendent Evers to replicate the success of schools that are exceeding expectations and help underperforming schools improve. Specifically, one of my priorities in the next state budget, which will be introduced early next year, will be to transform education to ensure all students in Wisconsin have access to a quality education.

Tailgating With Wisconsin's Olympians

This last week, Tonette and I hosted Wisconsin Olympians, Paralympians, and Special Olympians at the Executive Residence for a Badger tailgate party. It was a fantastic event. We wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate all of the athletes and thank their families for the contributions they make to the success of their loved ones. It was inspiring to hear all of the great stories from the athletes of all ages and talents.

To watch a video of highlights from the Badger tailgate, please click here.

Get to Know a Cabinet Member: Reggie Newson

As Governor, one of the most important tasks I have is to appoint and communicate with leaders in each state agency. These leaders, called secretaries, ensure agencies run smoothly and efficiently as they operate state government and implement government reforms. For a few weeks, in lieu of the “Just Ask the Governor” section, I will be highlighting a cabinet secretary and providing a brief overview of the department he or she oversees. I hope these updates will provide you with practical information about state government operations, especially as we head into the next budget cycle.

Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary, Reggie Newson, leads the state agency charged with building and strengthening Wisconsin's workforce. Specifically, Secretary Newson oversees an annual agency budget of more than $450 million, more than 1,600 employees, and six divisions:

  • Employment and Training
  • Administrative Services
  • Equal Rights
  • Unemployment Insurance
  • Worker’s Compensation
  • Vocational Rehabilitation

Secretary Newson earned an MBA from Concordia University of Wisconsin, an undergraduate degree and master’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as well as certificates in project management, management, and Six Sigma from UW-Milwaukee. He also has an associate’s degree in commercial real estate (ACRE) from Marquette University and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He is an alumnus of Future Milwaukee and a member of the Milwaukee Forum. In 2005, he was honored with the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 Award, which recognizes 40 Milwaukee-area individuals who are making a difference in their professions and communities. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Milwaukee Urban League and the 30th Street Industrial Corridor Board of Directors (ex officio). Reggie, his wife, Kawanza, and son, Caleb, reside in Milwaukee.

It has been a pleasure communicating with you. It is an honor to serve as your Governor and represent the residents of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,

Governor Scott Walker

US to sell Gulf of Mexico leases for oil, gas production | Louisina Oil & Gas Association

The U.S. Interior Department said Thursday it plans to offer about 20 million acres of the Gulf of Mexico for oil and gas production next month, as the Obama administration’s energy policies face more scrutiny ahead of national elections in two weeks.

The Nov. 28 lease sale, three weeks after the presidential election, will involve terrain off the Texas coast and is the first auction held under the administration’s 2012 through 2017 leasing plan.

Officials said that the sale, combined with two sales in the Gulf of similar scope in the last 12 months, were meant to strengthen the country’s energy security.

A Catholic Mom in Hawaii: Prayer For Our Nation

Prayer to St. Joan of Arc for Our Nation - Start Today

by Jean Auguste Dominque Ingres

Mahalo to Mary Jane!
We urge you to pray the following "Prayer to St. Joan of Arc for our spiritually embattled Nation", especially over the next two weeks. . Make copies and pass them out to friends and neighbors. Ask your Pastor to include the prayer in your Sunday bulletin.

Prayer to St. Joan of Arc for Our Nation

Dear St. Joan of Arc, you who led the armies of France to victory when called by God to save your land from the domination of foreign aggressors, we call upon you now that the courage and strength you showed in rallying the French troops may inspire courage and strength in the people of the United States to oppose any and all attempts to undermine our democracy and erode our liberties as a free people.

Please, St. Joan of Arc, invoke the assistance of the holy ones whom God sent to call you to action: St. Margaret, St. Catherine and the Archangel Michael. With your intercession and the prayers of these saints, may the Holy Spirit pour forth on our people the gift of wisdom and knowledge of the truth, that the leaders we choose will serve the sacred cause of life, freedom of conscience and deliverance of our country from the prevailing forces of death, darkness and lies.

We thank you for hearing our prayer and we beg you to inspire us to be warriors in the defense of life, light and justice as the Spirit of God inspired you so long ago.

St. Joan of Arc, defend us!
St. Joan of Arc, pray for us!
St. Joan of Arc, lead us to victory!

Amen.
May God bless you and keep you safe all the days of your life.

Milwaukee Professional Firefighters Association Announces Support for Tommy Thompson

Madison, WI – The Milwaukee Professional Firefighters Association (MPFFA) announced its endorsement of former Gov. Tommy Thompson for the U.S. Senate, citing his strong record on emergency response and support for first responders.

"Tommy's record as governor speaks for itself," said Dave Seager, president of the MPFFA. "He has always supported the profession of the fire service and those who lay their lives on the line on a daily basis. Tommy has always been consistent in his support for us during his tenure as Governor and Health and Human Services Secretary, and I know he will be in the future as a U.S. Senator. Given the opportunity, Governor Thompson would have been the first in line to sign the 9/11 legislation."

"I am honored to have the support of the MPFFA," said Thompson. "The brave men and women of the MPFFA are true public servants who put themselves in harm's way every day to ensure the safety and protection of the residents of Milwaukee. As Senator, I will continue to be a vocal advocate for public safety and provide our heroes at fire departments across Wisconsin with the resources they need to do their jobs safely and efficiently. I appreciate this important endorsement and applaud the MPFFA for its continued dedication to protecting our residents."

More Rain On The Way And An Important Mile Stone.

I see we are supposed to receive more rain today. It has been raining pretty steady for the most part of a week, but that is a blessing because of the drought we had endured all summer. Several of the rivers have returned to their former glory.

Tomorrow we celebrate an important milestone, our twelfth wedding anniversary. In some ways the twelve years flew by and in others it seems like it has been much longer. My life before I married SR seems like a distant memory. I have been so blessed to have married my soulmate the first time.

Over the last twelve years we moved to Wisconsin, had educational and employment triumphs, grown in our faith, experienced life's ups and downs and been blessed with 7 wonderful children. I am still amazed at what a blessing a faithful and loving wife is.

I love it when we run into older couples that have been married 40 or 50 years. In some ways, I can't wait until that is us.

So SR I love you and thank you for making me the luckiest man in the world twelve years ago.

Way Up North: It's One of THOSE Mornings: The Navy isn't a game of "Battleship" and we're not counting ships? Really? Even if we have the most technically-advanced ships afloat, you can only cover so much area per ship. There's a point of diminishing returns when you keep reducing the size of the fleet, and we're there. The post-Viet Nam fleet was 600 ships; now we have fewer than 300, and are asking more of it....

Congressman Paul's Texas Straight Talk: The Internet Revolution is a Liberty Revolution

Until the late 1990s, individuals interested in Austrian economics, U.S. constitutional history, and libertarian philosophy had few sources of information. They had to spend hours scouring used book stores or the back pages of obscure libertarian periodicals to find the great works of Mises, Rothbard, Hayek, and other giants of liberty. Local library and university collections ignored libertarian politics and economics.

Today, however, the greatest classics of libertarian thought, libertarian philosophy, and libertarian economics are available instantly to anyone with internet access. Thanks to the internet, it is easier than ever before for liberty activists to spread news and other information regarding the evils of government power and the benefits of freedom. For the first time in human history, supporters of liberty around the world can share information across borders quickly and cheaply. Without the filter of government censors, this information emboldens millions to question governments and promote liberty.

This is why liberty-minded Americans must do everything possible to oppose-- and stop-- government attempts to censor or limit the free flow of information online.

One such attempt is known as “CISPA”, or the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act. This bill will create a monstrous coalition of big business and big government to rob Americans of their protections under the 4th Amendment of the Constitution.

Thompson: "Kewaunee Power Station Closure Signals
Need for Smart Energy Policy"

Smart Policy Will Allow Energy Sector to Power Economy
Madison, WI – As reported today, the Kewaunee Power Station will close within the next year, further highlighting the need for an improved federal energy policy. Dominion Resources – which owns the power plant in Kewaunee – stated that the economic climate has forced it to close a nuclear reactor that provides energy to more than 133,000 homes in the Fox Valley.
“Today's news that that the Kewaunee Power Station is slated to close within the year is further proof that the federal government needs to adopt a smart energy policy that will retain and create good-paying jobs here at home," said Thompson. "The closure of the Kewaunee power plant will cut jobs and reduce energy competition. The result could be higher energy prices for hardworking, middle-class families in Wisconsin.
"In addition to adopting a smart energy policy that taps our domestic potential, I support freeing our businesses of the onerous regulations imposed on them by unelected agencies, like the Environmental Protection Agency. My plan will expand our domestic production of energy and cut the red tape that binds these job-creators, allowing Wisconsin’s power plants to power the economy and our homes."

U.S. Navy Christens Future USS America (LHA 6)

U.S. Navy Christens Future USS America (LHA 6)

By Ensign Darius A. Radzius, Navy Office of Information
PASCAGOULA, Miss. (NNS) -- The newest amphibious assault ship America (LHA 6) was christened Oct. 20 at a ceremony in Pascagoula, Miss.

"When America joins the fleet, we'll be a stronger, more flexible, and a better Marine Corps team. We need this ship," said Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mark Ferguson during the ceremony.

The 844-foot ship will be a flexible, multi-mission platform necessary to quickly respond to incidents worldwide and provide forward presence and project power as part of joint, interagency, and multinational maritime expeditionary forces.

America also marks the first of the Navy's newest class of amphibious assault ships replacing the Tawara class. It is considered to be the next generation "big-deck" amphibious ship. The new ship will be more capable to support current and future aircraft such as the tilt-rotor MV-22 Osprey and Joint Strike Fighter.

"It's kind of like a mini-aircraft carrier," said Lynne Pace, the ship's sponsor prior to breaking a bottle of champagne over the bow.

Weekly Update from Maloney for West Virginia

Dear Friends,

The weather turns a little cooler, the leaves change colors, and football is in full swing. Signs of fall? No, these are signs to me that Election Day is just around the corner. Everyone on our team has been working hard for many months now, but we are just over 2 weeks away from our chance to change the direction of our state.

I am busy on the campaign trail 7 days a week right now, and I'd ask you to join me in building a Brighter Future for West Virginia. A few simple things could make a huge difference in this election. Please consider talking to your friends and neighbors this week, and remind them that early voting starts on Wednesday, October 24. When you are at work, remind a co-worker. When you are at the store, remind the cashier, and above all get your whole family out to vote. It really could make the difference in this election.

Thank you for all you do!

Sincerely,
Bill Maloney signature-

U.S. Navy: Zumwalt Class Destroyer SITREP

The following post is by Rear Adm. Thomas Rowden, the director for the Navy’s Surface Warfare Division.

Shipmates,

Recently, I mentioned my trips to Maine and Rhode Island to visit Bath Iron Works (BIW) and the Raytheon Facility. Both of these tours provided firsthand insight into the production of ZUMWALT-class destroyer, and latest system testing. Though brief when previously mentioned, I now want to provide insight into the DDG 1000 program, its current status, and notable highlights.

DDG 1000 culminates two decades of research and development, creating the next generation destroyer capable of defeating future threats. The revolutionary design of the ship itself reduces its signature and includes both active and passive self-defense systems, plus enhanced survivability features. The self-defense systems are built to defeat littoral submarine threats, next generation anti-ship cruise missiles, and small boats. Also, the USW suite is capable of in-stride mine avoidance. It will provide valuable lessons in advanced technology, which can be incorporated into other ship classes, and it will have optimal manning through Human Systems Integration. For example, the automation on DDG 1000 will allow most routine watchstanding to take place in only two locations – the Bridge and the double deck Ships Mission Center (SMC). The SMC will have the look and feel of an advanced command center with operations overseeing both ship missions and functions through multi-modal common display system workstations.

Physically, all three ships are under construction! ZUMWALT (DDG 1000) is more than 70% complete. Christening and Commissioning are set for FY13 and FY15, respectively, with a two-phase delivery for HM&E and Combat Systems scheduled for FY’s 14 and 15. Following Developmental and Operational Testing, DDG 1000 will IOC in FY16.
